Also the filter on that Marvel Vs Capcom screen is fugly. Nobody could possibly think that looks good.
I know at least one person who would play the game like that (also stretched to fit the whole 16:9 screen) and insist it's better and more 'hd' than just scanlines + 4:3 ratio.

It's totally sad and wtf, but still... I'm sure that dude is not the only one sharing that 'vision'.

The Frogger game is out on iOS too...(where it is on sale 50% off for a grand total of $1), looks like the kind of game that might be crappy in screens but nice in motion.

Released today (unless they pull it later),

Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition - 800msp, 243MB.

Looks cool, I have a heart for Frogger (childhood memories) but 800 MS points seems a little stepy. I will grab it if it comes to 400 on a sale.

Ah man, another Frogger? But I still need the multiplayer achievement in the first XBLA Frogger. This looks pretty cool with the level skins, though.

And NiGHTS is mine minute one, forget day one. I might request the day off just for it.

That looks... horrible. Happy to judge it properly when it comes out, of course, but those screenshots are among the worst screenshots I've ever seen for a game.

LoL. I picked those 2 from the 10 on Xbox.com, because they had the Castlevania and Contra themes. It's hard to tell where the characters are and such in general, but it's Frogger; not too hard to understand.

I have yet to play the trial though, so will say more on it after that.

For those who are interested, Spelunky gets a Front-of-Dashboard Ad in the big center-portion of the main menu on Xbox today. It's the 5th thing on that menu, but that's still not too bad a place!

I think they've stepped up their XBLA advertising recently, really. VF5FS had a video ad on the Marketplace, Magic did too, Bellator had one yesterday, and they even appear on non-gaming portions I believe.

Anyone in the UK not being able to log into xbox live right now? I have two free "silver accounts" that log in fine. The Gold one doesn't log in at all.

Heh, when will MS realize everyone who wanted FO3 already has it from the other dozen or so times it's been on sale.

Saying that, SI is totally worth 1200msp. One of the best DLC of the generation.

Do I need to be gold to get discounts on the Sales and Specials App?

Do I need the app?

I have a friend who might be interested in the games of this sale, but he doesn't have gold and I haven't seen that app in the mexican marketplace.

I am hearing rumors about the Sales and Special app but I am not really sure...something about the prize for the scratch game being a big deal this week

I am pretty sure you will be able to actually win games and stuff from it, so it might be worth downloading it if you like free stuff.

Well the Scratch game has turned into a The Maw theme, so I assume it's just The Maw.

Woo, finally! Just recently did the first one and it's great, but this one looks even better. But then I'd have to stop playing Spelunky... Not sure if possible.

People are getting large amounts of The Maw (and R-Type, for whatever reason) codes from somewhere anyway. I've been trying to get rid of my spare codes from various PlayXBLA contests and I'm getting offers for those two games all the time.

Raptr were giving them away a few weeks ago, I assume that's where the abundance of codes is coming from.

They are open to silver and gold members. The only issue is that I'm not sure if you'll need a US or UK account to download the app (rules for the game states that you need to be a resident of the US/UK to be eligible to win). I've not checked on my JPN system yet to see if the app can be downloaded outside of the US/UK yet and I haven't seen anyone from other regions saying that they couldn't download it yet.
Once the app has been download it can be used by any regional account.

Are these deals for everyone or US only?

As above, once the app has been download any account can use the app and get the discounts.

Toy Soldiers: Cold War was pretty damn good from what I played of the demo back when it initially came out. Will bite on it even though I never finished the original Toy Soldiers campaign. I wish the DLC was on sale.

It's too bad about the Fallout 3 DLC being on sale. I have the GOTY Edition, but played it up to the
Washington Monument mission
before I threw in the towel. It would have been nice if the New Vegas DLC stuff was on sale so I could get the weapon pack.

Otherwise, decent DOTW on the XBLA side. It's too bad I already got Ms. Splosion Man when it was on sale last time it was on sale. I only played a few levels before I lost interest but it seems like it plays faster than the original one and it has a couple of platforming hooks that make play like the Donkey Kong Country games.

I got Hydrophobia for 200MSP and thought it was decent at that price. The controls feel a bit too loose but the water physics were pretty impressive. Visually, it's not as pretty as many other XBLA games. 200MSP for a relatively easy 200G is not bad I guess.

I'll try out the Raskulls trial to see if I like it. I checked out Trine 2 last week and while it's art direction is fantastic and whimsical, I put it on the back burner. The physics were also very impressive as was the fairy tale-like narrative.

I also checked out Joe Danger: SE during last week's sale. It plays like Trials: HD but it feels much faster. It's less about perfecting a course without any faults and more about completing a course as stylishly as possible with a high score. It has a theme park style feeling to it which is supposed to emphasize more of a fun atmosphere. I really love the menus. Like many XBLA games, I think it's best played in short bursts.

Moving on, is the splatters any good?

For 800pts, run a mile. For 400pts, it's alright. It's a physics puzzle game with inconsistent physics. It's fun when it's easy, and entirely reliant on lucky breaks when it gets harder, and is thus totally pointless as a puzzle game.

There's enough "easy" to warrant 400pts, I think.

What? Joe Danger plays as much like Halo as it does Trials HD.

Okay, so not quite, but it doesn't play anything like Trials HD. At all. Not even a little bit.

That's the vibe that I got initially because it's the only other side scrolling motorcycle XBLA game (well Evolution too but I haven't checked it out) on the market so it was hard not to compare it to it. It's less demanding of the pin point physics that Trials is known for.

Aside from being side-on, they are absolutely nothing alike at all. Their goals are different, their styles are different, their gameplay is different, everything.

Joe Danger has LOADS more in common with Sonic the Hedgehog than Trials HD, but no one ever makes that comparison.
