...is this legit?

the moral of the story is how bad aluminum is for electronics. AAA and AA are the same voltage, but the materials don't normally heat up as much as aluminum would. During copper shortages contractors liked to use aluminum wiring in houses here int he states, and there's been an epidemic of fires from it.

Soooooo.....

It's legit?

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

Guys! In the end of the last topic a comic was shown where it began with: look I got a good joke, and then 9gag and Reddit came and shit on it. If you find this for me I will love you for 1 month.

excellent way to start a fire and/or melt your gadget.
Why would it?
It has the same voltage.
If you do it right (and granted, it's a pretty shoddy construction in that picture) it should work.
Foil should be able to handle such currents.

I don't think you can start a fire with aluminum foil and a AAA battery even if you tried.

there is a reason why houses are not wired with aluminium anymore.

Mostly to do with the mechanical properties of aluminium.

Yeah, but we're talking about AAA batteries here.
I don't think anyone suggesting it's a good way to run your electronics, but I don't think you're all that likely to do any serious damage (outside whatever damage battery shorting van do to your device, which is usually not a whole lot).

I'm not sure how that is relevant.

The major problem with house wiring is that the heat/cool shrink/expand cycle of aluminum can cause wiring to loosen over time.

As long as the AAA has the rating to power the device there is nothing wrong with it. Foil can be used to tighten up loose battery connections in care which are pulling very large amount of amps without any fear of fires.

I'm sure you can cause a fire with a battery, but as long as that connection is tight and not shorting anything, that isn't going to do it. You would drain the battery long before a loose connection could generate enough heat to melt anything.

Very GAF specific, but this pic from Hot Toys' Facebook page celebrating the Nick Fury figure going into manufacture fucking killed me.

I'm still pissed they didn't use the original Fury look.

After all, they made most of the Avengers look like their old incarnations.
