Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

I have a question.

How many skill trees is in the game, we know 2 (Necromancer and Harbinger), is there more?

There's two, we didn't want the skill trees to over complicate or shadow the core game. They're there to compliment it.

Just to put some people’s mind to rest, this is still very much a Darksiders game. The level design is the heart of the game, and follows all the elements that made the first game, what it was. All these new elements we’ve added, have been added to increase the depth to the experience and, to give players lots to talk about with each other. It’s not a multiplayer game, but we hope, adding these extra elements will also spurn a stronger “community” of Darksiders players.

It’s the fans of the first game that have really helped push this game into other people’s laps, and we appreciate that. So, it wouldn’t make sense for us to pull it too far away from its roots.

You're welcome!

Hehe, If that helps, I gave the extra-copy I had from Steam (with a pre-order I don't know which THQ game...maybe Space Marine) to a friend and he played the hell out of it (never heard of the game before that) and has now Darksiders 2 at the top of his wishlist.

You might not have the same marketing power as some other AAA studios, but we are happy to have the word-of-mouth work going for quality products (seen too many of them failing due to lack of publicity *snif* Okami).

What kind of achievements can we expect?

First, I want to apologize for the "Dark Rider - Ride 100miles" achievement from Ds1, It sucked. That won't be happening again.

The majority of our Achievement revolve around playing the core game (and some of the side-quests), from start to end. I split the minority of awards between skilled/hardcore players and the item hunters.

As a lot of people don't finish games these days, it's important that the core/spine of the game contain the chunk of the rewards. So, just by pushing the story/game forward, you are additionally awarded with Achievements.

Hdn, I am thinking of pre-ordering the PC version, but I need these questions answered first:

1) Are you guys giving special attention to the PC version and treating it as a seperate endeavor? This is referring to adapting the control scheme to the kb+m and to allowing the player to customise controls and video options. I finished DS1 with kb+m but it was a bit of a bitch to configure the controls, plus if I'm remembering correctly, the icons during the game didn't change to reflect the customized key.

2) Does the game support AMD crossfire? Almost all recent games do not support crossfire out of the -figurative- box and I am stuck waiting for a patch or a driver update until I can properly play the game, rendering the pre-order pointless.

If you can comment on the above two points and ease my mind then I will pull the trigger today.

Just an opinion here, but Arial Predator sucked too. :(

haha, that was a mixed bag.

I played that section, then reduced what I could get by a decent amount. I then got others on the team, who hadn't played that section too much, and took the kills that they were getting to find what number would feel right.

There has to be a level of effort in some of the Achievements, to really class them as such.

I don't know if this has been answered, but any additional DLC planned?

The achievement itself didn't suck too bad, but a way to tell how many enemies you had killed would have been greatly appreciated.

Awesome dude, I hope Joe designed some really cool art for each of the achievements.

Good point. I think the Flying Predator achievement came along after that part of the game was complete. Sometimes, adding even the simple element of an on-screen counter, adds a shade of risk when all our attention is on "big ticket" bugs or problems.

Man, speaking of achievements, I do hope they are less buggy on PC this time. For some reason stuff like getting ruin and beating the game never unlocked for me, even after going back and doing them again to make sure. Then some others from earlier in the game would randomly unlock later in the game. Never understood what was up with that. Made me kinda sad actually since I wanted to go get everything else but was discouraged since I couldn't get those to unlock, haha.

We have a dedicated set of programmers working on the PC version, and seeing that we can work on this version for longer than the console versions, it should be pretty stable in that department.

Does this mean that the PC version is not being released on August 14? Or it is due to the console certification process and disk manufacturing?

Good god, I will rage if the PC version is delayed.

But THQ isn't into that like UBI or WB, so I don't see why it would be.

As far as I know, the PC version is set to release the same day as every other version that isn't the Wii U.

Welp, I guess this is the part where we try and make Haydn spill the beans on the Wii U.

Do it! We'll protect you from the ninjas!

the last few hours of darksiders 1 were truly horrible and left a bad taste in my mouth. still this thread has peaked my interest. hopefully the game ends on a high note instead of the worst dungeon in the game and then a tacked on fetch quest this time.

Huh, I wonder if THQ will send out PC review code then, and try to hold back console versions for as long as possible. Might be a smart move to try and direct coverage of the game to show off the best-looking version.

Darksiders 1 was fantastic. Darksiders 2 was preordered months ago (in 2011). I can't wait. Best Zelda type game since LttP.
I actually just bought and started playing through Darksiders 1 this past weekend. After all the stuff I've seen and heard about 2 (and good things about DS1), I decided to give it a whirl before I inevitably pick up the sequel. So far I'm digging it. Just got past the first dungeon(?) after collecting 500 of those blue soul thingies for Fulgrim.

It gets better :) I was so happy to play the game (borrowed from a friend) that I went out and got a copy for myself after having such a good time with it.

Remember to get the teleporter in each area. I didn't do that early on, and it made the latter half of the game a bitch to get through.

If it was before the first time you met Fulgrim, it's not the first Dungeon. The first dungeon is the Cathedral, and this is where the fun actually begins, so if you enjoyed it so far, you can only see it getting better ;)
