Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

Alright I was convinced to buy this a few days ago once I heard it was likely going to be 30+ hours. I liked DS1 but when they announced that this was going to take place at the same time as 1 I was extremely upset because after that great ending I wanted to see what was next, so I discarded this game for a long time. But I'm back on board for now and was able to secure it for $23 after using the rest of my steam sale funds.

I looooooove that feature.

Same. Gives me a general idea of my improvement, though usually I'm talking about RPGs.

edit: Also DS3 better be an actual damn sequel. I'm not falling for that stuff again no matter how good 2 is.

If you want deep but clunky realish fighting, that keeps you on your toes as you explore an amazing dark beautiful fantasy world go for Dark Souls

if you want frantic high speed combat with zelda elements in an artistically comic book style grim fantasy world go for Darksiders 2

I dont know if anyone saw this before, but Polycount did a fan contest for weapons to be in the game made by submisions these are the final results *the fans had to literally make the models and everything themselves

I'm an old polycounter from back in the quake 3 days and though I didn't have time to make anything for the contest I certainly voted for the ones I liked. Problem is, there is soo many talented artists over at polycount it made voting really hard!

OnlySP.com just posted the second part of their interview, really like the last question they asked about the single player experience and the answer they got.

"A question that we ask in every interview to developers is where do you think the single player experience is headed in the wake of a generation heavily focused on connectivity and online play.

Video games by their nature are technologically driven, and humans by their nature are social – so this perceived shift to online multiplayer is simply an extension of these two core elements intertwining. However, there will always be single player games because there will always be an audience that desires that experience. What I think will happen, though, is that single player games will find non-obtrusive ways to allow people to share what they’ve seen and done while playing solo. It’s no different than going to see a movie or going to an arcade back in the day. Talking about what you’ve seen and played becomes a way to socially bond, and is ultimately more powerful than the game itself."

Trading info:

Question: How will the items trading amongst players work? Can you only trade with players who are actively online at that moment? Or will there be some sort of auction house to place items in to be traded when others offer some sort of minimum bid or items value?

Answer: We have an interesting mechanic in place which allows players to trade items with their friends. This means if you are building a primarily magic based character you can help your melee focused friends with any great items you find and don’t need. There won’t be an auction-house system to sell these items.

Will we have chest for stashing items?

I guess I am going to have to go through THQ in order to get all of those bonuses at no extra charge. Hopefully they will get it to me by release day.

"With the inclusion of Legendary loot, will players be rewarded for exploring and finding these special items?

- Oh yes. We’ve got special items as rewards for completing epic quests, powerful armor sets with the pieces hidden in different places, and items so well hidden that I didn’t even know about them until I was proof reading the strategy guide!"

With THQ's financial struggles, will we ever even see a sequel to Darksiders 2? I'll be so sad if this is Vigil's last stab at the Darksiders franchise. Valhalla made it out with Devil's Third, will Vigil make it out with Darksiders?? Can someone at Vigil spill out their situation better???

Rubin seems pretty keen on Vigil and Volition. If DS2 sells well, there is no doubt there will be a sequel.

I'm personally not worried about Vigil or the Darksiders franchise. I think they are both here to stay.

I hope you are both right, this game is to my adulthood what He-Man was to my childhood.

In to order to collect all the loot for the required achievements, will I need to trade or can it be all found in the game?

I agree. I've played Darksiders like I used to play Zelda. I still enjoy zelda a lot, but Skyward Sword just didn't really do it for me and I have yet to even finish it. On the other hand I've played through Darksiders multiple times and will most likely give it one more playthrough before part 2 releases.

I Pre-Ordered on the THQ Shop for the season pass DLC.

I'm super, super excited about this game. I really enjoyed the first game, and this series could have an amazing future if people jump on. I hope Vigil knocks it out of the park with Darksiders 2, so we can see this promising series evolve even more.

I wouldn't mind them continuing to expand the universe by having each game as a different horseman. Then in the 5th game have 4 player co op. Its like what Marvel did with the Avengers, they built torwards it by doing individual films first.

So do we know how much of a side-quel this is? Does it advance the story of the first one at all or is it sort of just it's own thing?

It'll probably catch up to DS1 by the end and advance the overall plot just enough to get people excited for Darksiders III.

The dream scenario would be 1 or 2 more "side-quels" and blow the doors open with DSIV, or DSV using all 4 horsemen in the same game.

All that we know is that DS2 story starts sometimes during the 100 year period between the Apocalypse and the moment Charted Council gave a chance to War to prove his innocence.

Hopefully DS2 will bring us the continuation of the DS1 badass ending.

Oh snap

An achievement for doing all side-quests.
Wicked K
is back!

The BFA achievement is gonna be a lot harder to unlock in this one!

i introduced my girlfriend to the first game this past weekend and she loves it. we'll switch off every now and then with the controller but she's really digging it and it's nice because it's one more game series that her and me can get into and play together or even just watch each other play.

If I'm right 3/4 of the achievements are story based and you should get all of those just by completing the game once. (on Hard, that is.)

Kinda disappointed that there's no achievement for Nightmare Mode, I would have liked one hardcore achievement to get.

Wonder if there's gonna be an embargo on reviews lifted like a week or 2 before the game comes out.

Did you do this for the PC version? I would love to do the same as long as it is a steam code.

Definitely planning a DS1 playthrough before this comes out. Someone should start a thread.

Started it on PC. I'm getting shit performance for some reason, and good god Apocalyptic difficulty is fucking hard in a take more damage kind of way.

We will see one or two early reviews [those that THQ want to be out], and then on monday aug13 there are gonna be a ton of them. That's my prediction.

I'm happy as well with no mp or co-op. Co-op would've been cool but I suppose it makes more sense once we've actually met and played as all four horsemen.

Seems like friendly trophies, nice :D

I could of swore I saw a parry animation play out in the make your own death video. Unless that was just a finisher animation but that wouldn't make sense

If this has already been answered sorry but:

1. Have the specs been announced?
2. Hdn, Will the game take advantage of SLI
3. 3D support? Nvidia Surround support?

[loot, weapons, armors, possessed weapons, tech trees, and more]

Agh! That was awesome! I'm totally gonna do a mage build (necromancer). Glad to hear that the second playthrough is also worthwhile, and having tons of loot is awesome too =)

Also, I'd be willing to create pictures (graphics/designs) for an OT for Darksiders II
