Been a lot of updates to OA in the past week but you don't have to update to them as soon as they come out. There are servers running most of the versions. dayzcommander is nice enough to give you a breakdown by percentage for each OA beta version.

Uh oh. Time for a server reset, methinks. IIRC Choppers were removed tentatively at least from our server.
US 38 Texas is exactly how it reads.
It just seems that once I get on and update everything one day the next day its all red X's on the servers. lol.
By the way do I need to replace the .EXE every time I update to a newer beta?

Dunno if it's just me, but i dont seem to have any problem leaving them behind. Not only I use interiors (godgift) to lose them, but I also zigzag on trees and bushes and eventually lose them. I had a trail of 10 zombies, zigzagzigzag and only one kept chasing me, lol.

For people having an issue finding a gun after spawn, check deer stands (red icons on dayzdb). Out of the three stands I just checked, all close to each other, I found an AK and a shotgun (870) and tons of ammo. Sadly I guess there's a glitch when you try to put a gun in a backpack and I lost the shotgun.

Yep, it's one of the things i hate of dayz, how messy the weapon swapping is.

Yeah I think so... I did manage to find a hatchet very quickly on all the chars I started so far tho... It's more than enough if you are fighting only zombies.

Six updater is probably your best bet, if you can figure the damn thing out.. I had one of the guys on the Mumble server help me figure out how to use it (Thanks Gibbz)
You need the BETA patch too, not just the new DayZ version.

I did get them off of me once by running into another survivor while he was looting and they decided to eat him instead. Sorry dude!
I wish I had a clue. I think I'm on version 1.62 and it says I need a different one, but I've installed a few and had no luck.

Managed to get everything i wanted gear wise except for nvgs in elektro, even a akm. Then i got greedy and decided to have another tour round to see if there was anyone to group up with and BANG, sniped in the face.
Luckily i spawned in elektro again and went straight back to my dead self grabbed my gear and ran off into the woods.

I just launch from 6 updater, or the exe in the CO directory (steam folder). I think SalsaShark had a fix for that earlier though...
I fixed it by adding the launch commands listed here instead of the ones that were on the wiki
I want my Steam game tracking though.
Doesn't help me with getting the right beta version installed though.

If you're playing, then you have the right one. If you ask SalsaShark nicely, though, I'm sure he can provide you with the proper procedure to launch from steam.

I'm not playing though. I get to the page, and it says I have the incorrect beta version installed. Says I need version 1.62.95208, and I apparently am on a different version.
I launch Arma2 combined OPS, then click MP, and go to the US 38 Texas server as mentioned above. It is in red and won't let me join.

Then follow THESE instructions (skip to the beta install part, or look at all the steps and make sure you did them all right.)

Dang, looks like I'll be missing out on the sale this time around. Was planning on picking it up for my brother and I but I just can't spend an extra $36 on games on top of everything else going on. Starting to think it may be better off just waiting for whatever happens with Arma 3.

Well this was a fun little way to kill 2 hours. First character fell off a roof while messing with controls. Second character dropped 3 steps and broke his legs, bled out. Finally got the hang of it by the 3rd, crawled my way around until I found an axe, then found a Crossbow (with 3 whole bolts!) and rummaged around some more, finding nothing but empty cans and tires.
Anyone able to help me with this? My game suddenly goes to the desktop after I get into a server and am about to take control of my character. Apparently the controls still work as when I move my mouse I can hear the rustling of the grass I logged out in, but my screen just shows me my desktop with the Arma II mouse pointer, unable to actually do anything on my desktop...

Does nothing. I have to go to task manager to get control of my desktop back, and clicking on Arma in the task bar simply brings up the game (no display) and I lose control again, then have to end the game via the task manager.

1. Make sure you go in straight, don't try to strafe in.
2. Make sure your not trying to squeeze through the doorway with a friend at the same time.
3. Don't close doors on yourself.
Some servers have them and some don't. If you have a gps you will be able to tell where you are in a server without them

I can get into Arma 2 briefly, but after a while, it will suddenly stop, then I'll lose signal on my monitor, then it will jump to my desktop, yet Arma 2 is still fully active. But instead of the game, it shows my desktop. Apparently my display driver malfunctions.

No, but you can mark your map with left shift and left click. It will put a marker on your map that will show up in game. It will help you find your way around
