Both JetSet Radio and Retro City Rampage seem to be going for current gen + Vita semi-simultaneous release dates, so it's REALLY a good idea not to get antsy over either. SOA is holding back XBLA releases, Sony sucks at releaseing things on Vita in a timely manner, and PSN... well, at least it seems to be agreeable for RCR!

Double Dragon Neon: That release date of 9/12 was announced on their official facebook page, so no speculation there.

From The Facebook said:
Attention people of the internets: Double Dragon Neon will be on PSN September 11th for $9.99 and XBLA September 12th for 800 MS Points. Save the date and get ready to rock!

That Cover does look great. Last gameplay vid offered a nice look too, and a familiar soundtrack...

I think that really is the problem with Jet Set at this point. I'm almost sure the XBLA version is completed, but they're just waiting for all those other platforms to be done and ready to go. They just announced the mobile versions of the game last week. :/

Besides Retro City i am also wondering what happened with Crimson Dragon, as it was like the last ""hardcore"" kinect title.

i think/hope they rework it to enable gamepad controls. i have no problem with it beeing kinect only, but they would sell la lot more units with gamepad controls.

Apologies to the mods if this is inappropriate, please delete if so.

PlayXBLA will be featuring a Live Stream of Dust:AET today. I'll be there, along with my cowriter, Alex Kain. They will be showing a nice chunk of the game, so if anyone is interested here is the url:

http://playxbla.com/special-edition...-elysian-tail-and-special-guest-dean-dodrill/

I think you'll be fine posting that. :)

Since you're here, talking about your game, can you tell me how integral the spells/magic part of the game is? In other words, can Dust be played like a straight up action game?

It can be. You can also toggle whether leveling is automatic, so if you're not an RPG guy you don't have to even deal with that stuff.

Casual mode (the easiest setting) has autoleveling on by default, and you literally never have to open the inventory to level, equip gear, heal, etc. It's meant for children or gamers who just want the story, and not worry about dying.

However, if you do like leveling but just want to build a melee only character, you can do that. I do limit how far ahead a certain attribute can be leveled (HP, Melee, etc) just to keep it balanced, but you can totally just play melee. Conversely, if you want to play it more like a SHMUP and just let Fidget do the work, you can do that too.

I should note that there are a few instances where you do need to use non-melee attacks. Mostly puzzles, but some minor combat scenarios.

Sounds great. Thanks.

Just a friendly reminder, the PlayXBLA Live Stream of Dust:AET will be starting in a few moments! Hope to see you there!

Dean, it looks so damn awesome! Thanks for making this game. I really love the sound effects, too. I'm just disappointed the Twitch stream is so low res.

Watching it now and am so excited. Finally after waiting for two or three years now, or whenever it was originally announced, I'll be playing it in a few weeks. Can't wait!

Thank you all who joined in the stream, that was fun ;) I hope it showed a 'little' more of what Dust:AET is about.. without spoiling too much.

"What the fuck?! I'm not even gonna play this game that much. Hell i think i'm not even gona buy it now"
"lolololol not buying now"
"LOL!!! Crappy XBLA game with achievement like this?! Are you serious?! Good luck then..."
"Thank you 5th Cell for release crapper grind MP achievement, so I not buy it now.

Stupid 5th Cell release achievement like that if MP is dead soon. OMG crazy developer to do it since if MP is dead soon after game release or even few months after then achievement sitting there without chance to get. This is stupid place to put this.

Anyway this game look not a bad. So doesn't matter to me about it since I will not get it not because of achievement beforehand I just look at video trailer and look like bored MP game. :)"
"Just lost a lot a sales with that one."

All losers with 70K to 437K gamerscore. I can't belive people like this exist refusing to buy a game because of a achievement. Are these people mentally sound?

What can we say about that, must be hard coping with OCD and a gamerscore.
I'm curious to give the game a trial after not being able to participate in the beta (US only)

Some people are literally OCD about completing every game they buy, and a single achievement that is extremely difficult can turn them off from a purchase for that reason.

I'll admit that while I've never avoided a game because of a single achievement, I have skipped over some games that I was on the fence about when I learned most of the achievements were very difficult to obtain.

If I were a developer deciding on achievements these days I'd choose carefully, because there truly is a faction of customers who take such things into consideration.

I've no problem with that achievement, but I've definitely avoided games with impossible achievements. Full House Poker, for one, and anything with online achievements where the servers have been turned off. I probably wouldn't have got the online achievements anyway but I certainly won't buy a game knowing for certain that I'm getting only a percentage of the full experience.

I bought Tony Hawk, and I'm definitely getting Hybrid and Dust. 5th Cell hasn't let me down yet, and I loved the Beta, so they've got my money. And gotta support one of GAF's finest, bringing out one of the best SOA games.

Deadlight and Wreckateer are tossups. Deadlight will depend on reviews, and Wreckateer will depend on if I have people to play with. We'll see, but a very very solid SOA.

Wreckateer is fairly single-player. The multiplayer is an afterthought and fairly needless. It's great if you've got friends on LIVE playing it though, 'cause the friends implementation is pretty cool. It shows you a graph that compares your score to a friend's and how well you scored for each shot, and it's good to compare that way since it lets you see where you went wrong or which shots your friends did better.

Achievements/Trophies have become a major part of gaming now, including things PC achievements. If you don't have a big name behind your game don't expect people to grind on multiplayer.Like BruiserBear said these people are completionist. This game would most likely be dead in 4- 6 months is my guess.

Unrelated to hybrid but sometimes i wish more developers took the bioware route and made achievements for both singer player and multiplayer people.I have games where the online is dead and noway for me to collect the achievement in a game i love.

haha, wow. i can't imagine caring about achievements

- it's not like anyone other than you will look at yours and be impressed that you got 1000/1000 in a game.
- it's not like getting getting every achievement in the game will actually be fun, either. it's like work.

OCD? more like kids with no life whatsoever

I'm the same way. I definitely like S ranking Achievements in a game if they are managable, but won't kill myself over them. And I won't even bother if it's a multiplayer based achievement.

Shadow Complex was definitely one of my favorites for achievements. You had to work for them, work stuff out, but the weren't impossible. They made me want to play the game through more than once, and that's a fantastic thing for achievements to do IMO.

The Edge reviewer must have been having a good day when writing the review then.

So is this a hint that the game sucks? :(

It's true that achievements can extend the replay value of a game if they're fun and why not make you try things that you wouldn't otherwise like in Crackdown.

Personally I rarely go for 1000/1000 in most games mostly because I hate the "collectathlon" achievements but I really like some challenging achievements like Vanquish's Tactical Challenges or Dead Space 2's Beat Hardcore Mode...especially Hardcore mode in DS2 was one of the best and most tense experiences that I had this gen.

Achievements are really cool if done right IMO and can even improve someone's experience with a game, at the same time it's sad that most developers don't get it or simply don't put much though into them.

Any extremely hard achievements in Dust?

I want to say they are all managable. I personally believe a decent player should be able to S Rank any game's achievements. I don't even know if the list has been made public so I don't want to say much more, but I feel they are pretty fair. I'm a fan of achievements and hate finishing a game without any points to show for it.
