Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

That was actually my first idea even before doing this vote.

I'd replace "begins" with "starts" though.

That's good, too. But the little wink to War gives it a little extra.

True. Can't forget War!

Darksiders II |OT| What starts with War, ends with Death

Pretty pro!

Darksiders II |OT| Death Is Only The Beginning

Darksiders II |OT| Sooner Or Later You Dance With The Reaper

Darksiders II |OT| The Only Thing Promised In Life....

Darksiders II |OT| No. Not Alone.

By the way I hope people don't think that I don't lurk this thread every single day (got some PMs from folks telling me I should check out the game when I am ahead of them in that regard lol). Like said I am a big time DS fan but I am trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible until day 1. I am very much looking forward to the improvements in combat and itemization. Expect me to be a regular here around launch time.

Yeah that one is more appropriate for a co-op DS game.

But holy shit was that line epic. I still get the goosebumps from that one.

Ok, I promised myself to not buy anything until I have money again...
But I'm so hyped for this game that I just bought the first one (I haven't played it yet, but it looks awesome, and I'd like to know the story before I buy the second one).

Edit: Oh wow, I'm not a junior anymore!

I've had Darksiders 1 in my Steam library for a year now, and only started playing it last week. I'm hooked on it like CRACK.

From the looks of it Darksiders II will be my game of the generation. Can't wait for this one.

I just got the first one in the mail! Except I don't know if I should play it right away or wait until I'm done with like my 5th play-through of Final Fantasy VII. I've only got 15 days left!

Best ending this generation. Also I'm guilty of pming Dahbomb LOL

Darksiders 2 |OT| of Scythe x3 - Cyclone - Flip Kick Cancel (both you and enemy go into air), Meteor Strike (airdash down to the ground), juggle with basic Scythe x1 - Dash Cancel into Harvester Revenge - Cyclone - Hilt Strike (Y after Cyclone), Dual Upper (focus + back + X) to launch the enemy overhead behind Death - Dash Cancel forward (AWAY from enemy), Deathgrip them back to you, normal jump (to meet them in the air), X,X,X (to slam them back to the ground - another Scythe x1 - Dash Cancel into Painbringer (Dash Heavy) which bounces them off the ground, full Scythe Combo (to the knockback finisher) - cancel the recovery into Teleport Slash (to both hit AND get close again), to Execute

lol jk

plus one for What starts with war, ends with Death

I like tragic's the most.

My tentative thoughts for a title:

Darksiders II |OT| Death never changes

Darksiders II |OT| Death's Advancement

A silly one
Darksiders II |OT| Death is Perfectly Ambidextrous

Combat feels very similar to me.

I guess that's the downside of being able to get through a game with simple stuff on the easier settings when the game is a lot more expansive combat wise. *shrug* It's DMC lite, not god of war

Never played a DMC game but I was under the impression that combat in those games was ridiculously technical and skill intensive.
LOL honestly not really. It's a bit exaggerated. The game rewards knowing how to fight against enemy types over super crazy stuff. Once you get into the crazy stuff you can already clear the game :P

I'm at the end of DS1 on Apocalyptic (my first playthrough) and "Square+Square+Square+Launch+mash Square until combo completes" has gotten me through pretty much everything. It would be nice if DS2 demands a bit more.

There are definitely some God of War influences in Darksiders, most importantly the use of QTEs (not as blatant or frequent as GoW though). I also feel that the whole system of having a single primary weapon plus a bunch of secondary weapons as compared to a bunch of primary weapons is a system similar to GoW's than DMC's.

That, plus Chaos form and holding a shoulder button to turn the face buttons into magic.

I mean in GoW Kratos mostly uses his Chains where as with Darksiders War mostly used his Chaoseater. In a DMC game all your devil arms are used equally and separately unless you are referring to Nero who IMO is really the exception to the DMC combat.

Use your glaive mid combo it cancels out attacks. have fun

Oh I agree with those parts, I was mostly refering to the flow of the fights. Outside finishers the pace of the fighting feels like a slowed down dmc to me more than god of wars style of combat. DMC3 and 4 do have a much nicer tool set though and Nero's gameplay still is my favorite in an action game to date. Let's see if Death can top it :P

*Ahem*

It's called Chaoseater.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDD

Also, the aforementioned Crucible is a great place to hone your skills. You can make it as easy or as challenging as you want (just don't forget to bring low-rank gear if you really want to make your combos long!). More (official) details on The Crucible should be coming soon.

Been thinking about saving the initial gear for some time now, I'll do it lol

It would be nice if we could get a weapon that did 0 damage or healed enemies, so we could improvise some practice mode.

Fixed. Had a brain fart with Devil Bringer and Chaoseater.

Darksiders 2 |OT| Death gets better drops than Diablo
Ice cold.

The way I interpret Darksider's combat is that it lies somewhere in between DMC's and Zelda's combat engine with a little spice of GoW thrown in for good measure. The reason why it's more like DMC/Zelda is because of the hard lock on/focus system and more emphasis on dodging.
