One attendee, 25-year-old Dale Fjordbotten, gave the AP a basic Brony 101 lecture

“I thought about what people would say. ‘It’s creepy. It’s weird. It’s a … show for little girls,’ …It’s just a great show … the story line, the plot, the beautiful animation.”

So why does this show have a such an extreme following? There are a bunch of kids shows that have adult followings. Are people just retreating back into their communities after getting chastised for watching a kids show?

As odd as the Brony community is, it could be worse. They just seem 10 times as bad as other communities because the creepiest members are so vocal on the internet. Most Brony's I've met in person are fine, most are actually very nice. Almost all the ones I've talked to on the internet seem to go out of their way to seem insane. If the Brony's want people to give them more slack, they'll figure out a way to make the more positive personalities rise above the negative ones.

Your hobby needs better PR when the first thing that shows up in a google search are pony fleshlights and "clomping".

I always wonder if the hotels/centers that host these kinds of things know what they're getting into.

Say what you will about Bronycon I bet there is some disgusting, awkward sex going on in the hotel.

To be fair awkward people always have awkward sex, and you know there's gonna be 4000 awkward people attending.

Edit, wait, clomping???

I really don't get the title, I think most of these people are in stable relationships.

I heard they did a Metal Gear Solid parody, so I watched a bit of an episode on Netflix yesterday. Not bad.

All joking aside I do think the creator has a real point here.

“We live in a society where saying that something is for girls is the equivalent to saying that something is stupid, or saying that something isn’t worthwhile,” [Lauren] Faust said.

“I think that’s awful and I think that kind of attitude needs to be changed,” she said. “And these men are doing it. … They’re proud that they’re forward-thinking and modern enough to look past this misogynistic attitude.”

Way to troll a large and active segment of Gaf. - however I don't think you'll get the reaction you're expecting.

And now I will leave you with a Halo pony.

I'll assume the TC was being tongue-in-cheek, and just give him a golden star.

I went to the BroNYCon held in September/October of last week, held in the NYC. It was awesome; food and drinks for cheap, merchandise, fan project demo's, bands (didn't care for the bands), they even had a Texas Hold 'Em tournament (came in third for my round, boo.) And Jayson Thiessen was nice enough to stop by and show the season 2 premiere episode (it was premiering the same day, people were likely going to miss the episode since they were spending time traveling from different parts of the country.) Only frustrating thing about the one I went to was that it was fairly small considering the unexpected high turnout and was thus pretty hot.

I won't deny that some bronies are over the top and can get in your face about it. And yes, there are some really awkward people. But I don't see what that means.

Apparently BroNYCon underwent some major management changes and now it's being held in New Jersey. The conventions became a much bigger deal than I would've thought.
