Seeing Kirby make that ward and then proceed to somehow make the thread crazy for 2 pages has inspired me to make a ward as well. Currently just texturing this guy up, whatcha guys think?

Well the effect is pretty low tier, so don't expect much.
Good thing you asked here because someone was going to get a pretty damn good item out of an item a shit load of people already have.
If they ever start allowing obs ward skins, you could change the colors and the symbol to fit omni knight. Im not sure if any character is actually associated with crosses in this game.
You should be getting at least two items every level other than the level up, especially if you are in mm.

Maybe break the cross up a bit? Make it look destroyed or something? I dunno. Textures may make it look more interesting, but I think you would run into some angry dota voters.

One of you modelers should remake spirit bear so he doesn't have the dumb top knots.
Bonus points if you can make sylla's ult like wc3 where he walks like a bear. Couldn't you just use the spirit bear's model and animations and just make it a little larger and reskin it?

Fucking christ, I'd forgotten how hard this game sucks when it sucks bad. Just got paired in a match with the worst Anti-Mage I've ever partnered with. I mean first off, there's the fact that he goes AM in all-pick when their only casters are Keeper and Silencer. Game starts, he warns us all "not to feed" and then goes and gets killed four times laning against Ursa

Yeah if that ward thing ever happens I might re-tool it. For now though the whole cross - tombstone style thing should be left for a braver man then I! Also it didn't match pugna at all.
Would like some advice on some pugna horns before I bother actually moddeling them.
Yay or nay? Meant to be goat/ram style horns, as for some reason I associate that will oblivion/hell.

I always associate horns with evil people/spirits, so it's fine with me. I want to see some textures to see what it'll look like before I really want to say yay or nay.

All I want is one good game as Clinkz. That's all I want. Four games in a row tonight I've been paired with four of the worst teams I've ever played with.

Yeah, I'm pretty self aware about Dota. I have no problem owning up when I'm the issue, but these games have not been that case

Haven't done any 3D modeling before (though I am fairly experienced in Photoshop, so texturing shouldn't be a problem), but I kind of want to try and make some Dota 2 items. As good a place to put my early efforts as any I suppose.
Was concepting out possible things I could try and make that wouldn't be overly complex, and I'm thinking of doing a weapon for Naga Siren. Her model is released, but no one has submitted anything for her yet. The idea I had was to make a sword that's basically made out of a swordfish fin, possibly with a pearl in the hilt.
Another possibility would be to do a shell pendant/necklace.

I've found that if you go into a game with the mindset that you want to play a specific hero you'll end up just being more aggravated when you lose.
It's best just to see whatever fucked up team your pub picks then adjust and try to make the best of it. That or rush pick lycan/invoker.

Man, I've got Dota 2, and I've played a couple maps with my roommate and they've all been disasters, and there seems like I need to remember a billion things. Is there a group of gaffers that just play for funsies that I can join to learn more about the game?

Well with AP sometimes you can get pretty much instant queues. When I queue just SD and RD, usually the wait time is around 3-4 minutes. Usually I'll just spectate a game, or read GAF or whatever while I'm waiting. It's not too bad. I prefer SD as well right now, as it lets me try new heroes without gimping myself too much, as other people will be forced into heroes they haven't played either. AP I've been randoming lately with mixed success, though just going with the few heroes I'm more experienced with is boring and doesn't really help me get better, except with those heroes.

I guess I'll keep trying. I don't feel like I'm learning anything playing against bots, except how to lose.
moonrunes speaks lies. Is good idea start on bots with 4 other newbiegaf.
Have you checked out any of the resources in the OT?

Weapons are a good place to start, because for the most part you don't have do anything above basic rigging. Unless you are going to have some kind of chain weapon.

Yeah, normally I do (which means I almost always end up running support, which is a rant all its own) but I got Clinkz in a Single Draft game and I did half-decent and I was like "man, I would love to really rock this guy" and then three games later I gave up in frustration, decided to give Rubick a try for the first time in a co-op bot match and had an awesome time.
Everyone is overwhelmed at the start, so dont let it put you off. And dont mind people calling you names, and shit. (Good idea to tell people you are new when you start too)
Hopefully valve puts some decent tutorials in eventually to teach people the basics and more 'technical' aspects of the game.

It's also sad to see someone else on another team get a rare item of a character you were actually playing / like to play. Some guy last got got the rare axe axe and I got the common. Why couldn't those rewards have been switched!
At the moment i'm still messing around with VS on and off. The swap ability still throws me off from time to time, Do I use it now or wait, Oh god i'm dead.

Man, fv is incredible when you're dealing with comebacks. Chrono is hands down one of the best ultimates in the game, I'd say its sometimes better than blackhole. Just won a 4 v 5 because of a carefully played team with excellent synergy. Enchantress + void so good.
Same deal just happened with me. Decided to play drow because I haven't really played her in awhile, got my face smashed in both times (lycan players abound). Played rubick in this 4 v 5 game and won. Just love stealing omni's ult right after he uses it, nulls the point of the hero completely. Not to mention stealing qop's spells and just doing massive early game aoe damage.

I speak the truth. Why try and sugar coat things when all is said and done he's going to feed, lose the game for his team, and bring out the rage/racism in his team. Get it over with now before you light up any hopes you have of mastering/enjoying Dota 2.

I found out when I started that if you play bad enough in the first couple of games, the search will put you in a queue of really bad people so you can square off and try to out-bad each other.
Quite fun actually, also, not a lot flamers in game despite the dota community stigma, a lot of people speaking in russian though (or what seems to be russian anyway)

My first games were quite peacefull. It's once you start getting some level that the flames begin. It's like people have macros for writting noob and retard.
