Forza Horizon - Fall 2012 - Developed by PlayGround Games

i dont say look at me, its you who chooses to look, you reply to me more than anyone else

Its because this is the only game I follow closely anymore and your in every thread related to it and it you just keep saying the same thing and its extremely annoying.

I check this thread out every now and then when it pops up in case there's a new video or something, but it's always either this xanadu person being obnoxious and disruptive or people reacting to him.

He needs to stop posting in this thread. Or get banned.

Xanadu: a question. I shall choose to ignore your assertion that I, because of my hoping to see more Top Gear-based content in the game for the fun in such silliness am a 'casual "bro"', but will you be purchasing Forza Horizon, after all of this?

I just have to suspect that none of you guys have raised a toddler. Otherwise, you would have a much better sense of how to deal with someone like Xanadu.

probably not but my brother will so i will play it, but i will purchase forza 5

I have, two to be precise, thus I've learnt to ignore him. It puts me off posting in a thread about a Franchise I like though, which is probably how many other people feel and its shame.

I'm one of those.

After finishing all races on the Event List in Forza 4 and being interested in Horizon I would love to discuss about this game with Forza 4 fans or new comers since it's a different style. Forza 4 Community is great, friendly and gives good tips and information so I was expecting a thread to discuss Horizon.

I don't mind people that may like or not the upcoming Forza but discussing in a proper way is what I was expecting on a Forza Horizon thread.

There has probably been more discussion about Xanadu than there has about Forza Horizon in this thread (and here am I, contributing to the madness).

How about a thread title change?
Any suggestions?

Question for Euro-GAf: for those who are getting the Limited Edition where are you getting? I wish I could get it from Amazon.uk but It seems that they will not have it, just like Forza 4 LE.

Is it exclusive to some retailer? Last year I got it from a local store for a very decent price but so far not even for the regular Horizon they have the option.

Thanks in advance.

With all of you jumping on Xanadu, I have to say he is fighting a good fight.

I can't understand his obsession with Forza 1 (sim-wise game was horrid - I would always vote for Forza 2 as best *sim-racing* package in the series) but I can understand what he's trying to highlight.

Also, I can understand his fears because I feel how every Forza game after Forza 2 (which had perfect non-ABS braking, perfect collision physics and perfect weight-transfer physics) were more and more watered-down regarding actual racing component.

Even that FM3 introduced cockpit views (very important) and 900-degree wheels support (extremely important), the overall focus of the Forza franchise went to some other territories than developing *racing* parts. And I really think that is a fact.

Non-ABS physics in FM3/4 is pure shadow of bliss FM2 was delivering, collision and weight-transfer physics were both severely dumbed-down, while almost perfect FM4's tire-model (probably one of the damn best in business) is deeply compromised for wheel users by XID-FFB and 900-model that just can't cope with counter-steer and loss of threshold (any Konenigsegg is a living proof of that). Even vast effort by Fanatec couldn't repair what XID-FFB just can't cope with and vast portions of racing feel are taken off the game because Microsoft insists on hurting their most important racing franchise with their crazy decisions regarding hardware (and it will probably remain like that even for next generation of Xbox, which is really crazy beyond my comprehension). I will even not speak about absolute lack of any contextualization of having extremely detailed tyre-wear/fuel consumption/mechanical damage in the game, but leaving out any race longer than 7 laps basically, or my complete amazement when I realized how actual picking of non-tuned AI-field in Events mode will actually deduct Bonus percentage. WTF?

As someone who really invested serious money and effort in Forza franchise through the past, I am really very annoyed on way they're treating us, their most loyal customers at this point. I have just read in FM4 OT how Season Pass has gone on 50% discount, as well as Porsche Pack. It was less than 4 months ago that Porsche Pack is released, and just introduced 50% discount only 150 days after Pack was released is really a slap in a face (I know it is hard to justify serious money invested in this "license" with apparently only 40K DLC pack sold, but 150 days later.. come on Microsoft, why??) . Not to mention rumored FM4 "Starter Pack" release and it really unique method of delivering content. Announced VIP content for Horizon also does a great job in painting a new age for FM series as an great milk-cow.

From a game that was widely praised for a great *communication with fans* (whatever that implied), we come to an age of complete silence on any really relevant matter (track DLC, fixing FFB problems, fixing "black car issues" for Porsche pack, separation of Simulation/Standard leaderboards/Rivals, etc..) and very *effective* moderation on the official boards for every subject that does not fall in the line with *community* profile. Hell, Badned gave us more insight on anything Forza related than *community manager*. Sigh.

And although I will be the first to purchase Horizon (which will also be my first no-LCE Forza in last 6 years), I can't distinct myself from idea that something strange is going on in the Forza land. I have damn high expectations for Forza 5 and I really hope it will deliver. But when I look everything in context, I see the pattern that I do not like from perspective of a racing fan.

To conclude, Xanadu may be irritating and such, but you are all just too eager to jump on his train of having fun with all of you being over-sensitive to his comments. Deep down I am completely aware of the point he is trying to make and I have to say I agree with him in some way. And no, I do not see he is actually trolling. He is just having fun and you are helping him with your venting on something we all should in fact support.

Long post, damn lazy Sundays.

Right, where were we?

I'm not sure but how many players can you have online at the same time, Is it 8?

Also, I'm guessing it's a yes but the line assist can be turned off if I'm correct, can't stand that thing.

And one last one, loved the Lambo V Plane vid, can't wait to play some of those.

Oops, can the 'brodude' voice be disabled? If its anything like Dirt2/3 then I'll imagine it can't and it might be enough to put many people off, I loved Dirt 3 but it got tired very fast with all the voice overs.

Na, he's not having fun.

Having fun is a few posts here and there, not 99% of the time.

Anyway, we need some new shit Turn 10. Insanity is in the house..

I'm starting to wonder, is the 'brodude' language really that popular in the U.S?

It seems that Codies and now Turn 10 think so...

I hope things like line assist can be turned off. We saw the Horizon menu had the Difficulty option right from the start so I'm hoping that you can choose things like that to be out when racing.

Also, amar212 I agree with everything you said about where Forza is heading with Horizon and the DLC price drop. I got the Porsche DLC day one and also got the LE from Forza 4. Right now these loyal costumers you talked are not being heard. Otherwise you would have a couple of Racing Tracks as DLC at least. ;) Let's hope that Forza 5 delivers when the time comes.

Regarding the other subject let's just say I disagree since I do not intend of talking about that again. But having fun is not the same as repeating the above every time, showing to others that he does not like this new approach of Forza (which one or two posts could show that, no reason for 100 posts saying almost the same) etc.

What I want is just one racing game to have an approximate "real-world" setting. If the car in real life has abs but no tc then I want that as an option. I'll be the first to admit I tend to turn off all assists before I even start but it would be nice to have on/off/real as a setting :)

This thread is quickly spinning out of control guys. Here a quick question. If playground developed the game, why is turn10 always showing ot off? I would be pissed if I was working at playground. They make it seem like turn10 made this game.

I think T10 is also a lot more involved with this than we think, considering the entire framework from the previous Forza games is being used here, including all the same car models, as silly as it is.

I would like that option too. I'm not a good racer but I usually turn OFF everything but the Rewind option and TC if I'm driving Mustangs or other cars I have more difficulty at cornering without eating grass and sand.

Yeah, who would have thought all those years ago that Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure would forge a template for how information is conveyed to drivers in the racing games of tomorrow.

With Forza being a Turn 10 name, I can see why it's marketed primarily by them (and the use of assets etc) but I would have thought Playground wouldn't be too happy about it.

The line assist must be able to be toggled, my only worry is that I don't think I've seen any vids with it off yet.

Dont game makers hate doing press?

If anything I think they would be happy they dont have to deal with it.

Ordered from Game, to be honest I wasn't prepared to pay out £60 on something I may not like so traded 30+ old games in for a couple of hundred quid worth of credit.

If Horizon turns out well I'll use the rest of the credit on resubbing to Xbox Live and MS points.

I was really avoiding this thread. Which is a shame since I'm interested in Horizon and I'm a fan of Forza Motorsport series so I would love to have a thread to discuss this properly with other fellow GAFfers.

...

To answer your question Rad Agast Forza Horizon will read your Forza Motorsport 4 Save File and based on that (don't know if based on Completion % Rate, cars on your garage or anything else) you will have access to some bonus cars from the Start.

Thanks for answering. I couldn't risk order some LE like this and then have to wait for than I should and worst, the item getting lost without the company giving me some tracking number. If I could get from someone who use UPS or MRW I would be there Day one, normal postage to here is a no go.

Maybe my FNAC will have it. Other Fnac stores from other countries are getting it so I hope mine still get it just like they did with Forza 4

Are you in the UK by the way? I can't trust them to Deliver an LE to other countries.

Thanks. I can't wait ;-)

No problem ;)

I'm not so sure, I would have thought it would be a personal choice or not. That Ralph guys been to the school or Dan though, Car lovers this Car lovers that, all he's missing is a beard. Ha

Really torn on which version to order, £60 from Game for the LE puts me off. and this seems an aside for FM4 rather then a replacement (in terms of my gaming time), so it might be the first non-LE version of Forza I'll be buying...

But i will be buying it, it's got enough to be a day 1 no brainer, after many TDU and NFS disappointments lately, I need something that's got decent enough driving physics with a solid 30fps (TDU2 is almost killed instantly by the framerate for me)..

Hoping we get more videos, they seem to hit the spot for getting the look/feel out to the masses!

(And nice to see it's suddenly got nice and quiet around here!)

I'm sure you've got something you could trade in to GAME. ;)

Per the question about turning off assists - Dan has said in videos that assists and racing line are all customizable like in Forza 4. So, yes, you can turn off the racing line.

Because they want to sell it off as a Forza game.

so, was this not playable to the public at pax? was really hoping for loads of hands on impressions and video, particularly from the "no assist" forza players and focused on dirt.

Nice seems like I'll turn all OFF aside maybe Rewind and TC if it's one of those Mustangs or something. I also hope that the less assists you have the more bonus or whatever the currency is here you get.

There's a total race bonus line at the bottom so it appears so

thank jebus the ban hammer came, is it so hard to accept this game as a forza spinoff experiment? christ, forza 5 is clearly next gen, test the water with this to see how the people react, and also bring more buyers into the forze series due to the different appeal of open world racing

I might, MIGHT have a chance to go play this in Chicago next Friday. I won't know until a couple of days before. But if I do get to, then I will try to come in here first and see what information you all want me to get.
