Well that's exactly my point, especially with new subscribers. I can easily see people signing up for the free trial as a one time thing just to watch the new Arrested Development then canceling. Wouldn't it be better to do a weekly release so that it raises the probability that the customer will explore the rest of the catalog and become more likely to continue their subscription through the trial period. It also kills the prolonged water cooler buzz effect that would help promote the shows and service for a longer period of time.
It doesn't make sense from a customer retention standpoint.
I agree on your point, but I love it as a consumer. I makes me a happier consumer to have everything available at once! And I don't even marathon series, but sometimes I will want to watch 2 back to back and I bet that will happen with Arrested Development. But it works a bit against customer retention.
So I hope most customers are like me and Netflix continues this trend.
