2012 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Don't Use Imgur

What's triple buffering do?

And can you teach me or link me to what LOD bias does and how to set it up correctly?

I already covered this - I hate temporal aliasing to the point where I will do anything to get rid of it, up to and including dealing with perhaps a bit more blurriness than is necessary.

It also conveniently helps to mask sections where texture resolution is inconsistent...

Opinion, I actually think these shots look interesting. You don't often see effects like this in the PC gaming world.

Stunning. What other planes has it got?

The free core of the game has an Su-25 plus missions / a campaign I believe. However the Su-25 is ported from Flaming Cliffs 2 which means the cockpit isn't clickable and everything has to be done through hotkeys plus the flight model isn't their advanced model. Then you can buy their packs which is the main meat of the game and they are all super high fidelity study-sim quality - They include:

- A-10C
- Ka-50
- P-51

Ground combat:
- Combined Arms ( Take control of everything on the ground basically, some in 'first person' )

Upcoming stuff:
- UH-1H Huey ( Just announced )
- Flaming Cliffs 3 ( Includes lower-fidelity F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, - Su-25/T - It's already in Beta and slated for release soon )
- They registered an F/A-18 site

THEN they have made a ton of partnership deals with larger virtual plane makers, who makes planes for FSX etc. which means they are high fidelity, i.e fully clickable cockpits and realistic physics;

MiG-21Bis Fishbed
RAZBAM's F-15E
RAZBAM Harrier AV8B
VAEO is making a BAE Hawk T.1A trainer and the Eurofighter typhoon
RAZBAM is also making a T-2 Buckeye

and the list keeps going and going. DCS World is basically what the name implies, a big world they will keep building on and make a massive combat simulator.

But every single pack is going to cost a pretty penny, something like $30-40 a pop. The wonders of simulation.

However I still recommend Falcon 4.0 BMS if you really want to get into study sims :P

Yeah, Sethos, your Falcon 4.0 and DCS shots have been stunning. You got any more?

Appreciate it. I'll get some more from my upcoming training sessions.

Loving the Mechwarrior online shots, but won't play it without a single player campaign.

I'm a singleplayer guy myself. I very rarely ever play multiplayer, unless it's with friends or in co-op. And I've always only played singleplayer in the MW games. Yet with MW:O, it has been such a long time since the last Mechwarrior game that just makes it so refreshing to see the mechs again and have these big hard-fought battles against other opponents.

The good thing about MW:O is that you are playing against human players, meaning that tactics become much more relevant and every match is different from the one before. The game still needs some extra features to make it sufficiently enticing, but if you love the universe and the mech gameplay, I would recommend you to try it out - either through a friend with closed beta access or when the game goes into open beta. (It should obviously be noted that I am biased in terms of Battletech.)

I love that effect, actually. I've played a number of games like this.

The softer effect gives it an almost film-like quality. When you play it on a TV and view it from a reasonable distance it feels sharp and super clean.

Me too. I generally think GW2 looks like crap, but with this effect it actually looks kind of cool.
I play skyrim with a similar film style filter.

Crysis 2 with Maldo Magic 1080p SMAA (nothin too fancy!). Seriously, every game with guns needs near weapon Depth of Field. It looks sooooo good. Killzone 2 anyone?

Also, C2 is by far the best looking game to date.

I just beat Dark Souls, and wanted to post up some shots I took throughout.

Most were done in 1440p

Click any to get to a page to view them full res.

Thanks Sethos, I'd love something like that just for the opportunity to photograph those jets in action.

Well, get crackin' sir. The core DCS World is free and allows you to use the mission editor fully and start up scenarios where you can look around, take pictures etc. but you can't take control of anything besides the Su-25.
