Half of it is good, but it still feels somewhat pointless.

-The framing story is Spencer doing his usual "trying to set up a lot but being terrible at it" schtick because that's all he does at Marvel.
-First feature is a Bendis/McNiven Star-Lord origin story that doesn't tell you shit about how or why it's related to Guardians of the Galaxy.
-Second feature is Nova, so Loeb being his usual self, meaning it's ham-handed and dumb, and not in the cool Geoff Johnsian literalness that kids would dig. At least McGuiness makes it look good.
-Third feature is the Gillen/McKelvie Young Avengers story starring Loki and Miss America and of course it fucking rules what the fuck do you expect. It's also the only one that actually sets up things that will happen in the book and I thought that was the entire point of Point One but I guess I am wrong and dumb.
-Fourth feature is a Fraction/Allred Ant-Man story. It's super well done, it sets up things from the book not as explicitly, more like, thematic things, but it's cute and smart and funny and that's what you'd want from an FF teaser.
-Final feature is a Forge story setting up Cable and X-Force, and it's good enough, but not very X-Forcey, if that means anything. Hopeless has a good handle on the characters, but there's really no way to set up any kind of expectations from that so it's a bit of a failure on that front I'd say if the point was to sell people on those ideas.

So, half-good, but at least we know it's actually going somewhere unlike the first Point One, which didn't set up shit save for that Defenders story.
 
Anyone ever read The Incal? I picked up the first volume, and it's really amazing and neat. Anyone?

Indeed. I have a soft-spot for the OG5 so it'll be interesting to see these teens adjusting to everything around them, since fish-out-of-water stories are always fun.

As for the avatar... It's a cute spoiler from Hawkeye #3. If you've read Hawkeye #1, it'll be a nod to it.

SILVER SURFER BY STAN LEE & MOEBIUS #1

is Marvel Now a good starting point for someone who is trying to get into the marvel universe? aside from ultimate marvel I was always shy about getting into the regular universe because of it's history and convoluted story lines, it was a little intimidating trying to get into it and follow. i have read some of the major story arcs like civil war, house of m, etc. but still always felt a little less informed of some of the characters and histories. most of my comic reading has been for completed series like many of the vertigo series like y, ex machina, dmz. but i've always wanted to get into superhero and marvel specifically.

If you like the characters, there's a point where you have to take a deep breath and just dive into it regardless of confusion. There will always be 50 years of backstory and this number won't get smaller.

I think it might be a good jumping point since new arcs are beggining, but I think that, at this point, at least some googling is inevitable.

Agreed. Another good thing about Now though is in addition to new arcs you get new creative teams that will want to leave their mark. To someone just getting into marvel I'd really suggest picking up Daredevil trades (Waid) and Hawkeye 1-3 along with some of the upcoming Now books.
 
Cyclops is actually very super hero in this issue. Given that, obviously, he still thinks he is right and that he feels justified by the facts that mutants are around again, he is being very awesome about the situation, very rational too, this panel, while good, does not tell the whole story.

It's one of the reasons why I'm torn between going fully digital as I like picking up my floppies for Hawkeye, but I can get them so much sooner on Comixology and the paper feels like it might tear at any moment due to being so thin.

At this point Marvel Floppies are just how I support my LCS. I buy them, redeem the code, and literally throw them to the curb.
 
Marvel Now Point One got me sufficiently excited for:

Young Avengers
FF
Guardians of the Galaxy (are they actually doing another GotG ongoing? I haven't heard anything about it)

And I'm pretty meh on the rest.
