Yo, I think "fun" is the most terrible meaningless buzzword in comics discussion, but if you hate on Hawkeye what the fuck is wrong with you? It's capital-C Comics, which is what Fraction does best, and he's got Aja and Hollingsworth backing him up doing their wonderful wonderful thing. It's gritty without being grim. It's got a wonderful sense of place, character and action. It's got Pizza Dog, second only to Bat-Cow for greatest character find of 2012 (third place is Pelican Army from Dial H). It's The Best New Thing of 2012, and fuck you if you don't think so.

Well, I think Saga is better but this is definitely up there among the best ongoings. The art alone is worth checking out since it's so much better than the average you'll find in the big two.

Nice to see all the Hawkeye love. "You geev me ginger"

The world through Clint Barton's eyes and ears are amazing...

Bro, I wish Hawkeye all the best with his red-head endeavors, bro. Because it's about time someone hooked up with a red-head and it didn't end in Gods and demons and cosmic phoenixes tearing them apart, bro.

That said, I though Spider-Woman was with Luke Cage?

Good grief, is Sue and Reed the only marriage in Marvel that LASTS?

Also I really love his narration (bad russian accent).

Any of you guys pickup the Catwoman/Batgirl 13 issues that supposedly tie in with the Joker event? Curious as to whether or not they're worth picking up.

Hawkeye #3: 10 out of 10; "the personality of a Marvel comic but the attitude and feel of an indie." (Newsarama)

Hawkeye #3: 5 Stars; "not a single misstep in this book." (Comic Book Resources)

Hawkeye #3: READ; "a virtually flawless comic book." (Comic Book Resources)

Seriously, that last one was the most astonishing of all because Hannibal hates almost everything from what I've seen of his column. For him to not only praise Hawkeye but to call it "flawless"... I nearly had a heart attack when I read that.

Batgirl only had like a page at the end dealing with Joker, the rest was wrapping up the arc that started in issue 10 or 11.

Luke cage is married to Jessica jones and has a daughter.

The only other marriages I can think of is

Madusa ad black bolt
Crystal and Ronan
Madrox and Layla miller

I'm definitely riding a Matt Fraction high right now. Been thinking about picking up those Invincible Iron Man OHCs. What's the general consensus on that run?

Northstar got married recently, didn't he? Marvel posted that hugemassive troll album where Peter's marriage was a blank photo.

Writing is good early on but gets pretty mediocre towards the end. Art is consistently bad.

Fantastic. Heavy on espionage and super outwitting. Also, really grounded in character, as Fraction brings a lot of his publicly discussed experiences with recovery to the proceedings. Stark's relationship with alcohol has never been as personally and poignantly examined any of his comics, to my mind. 500.1 especially is a landmark issue when it comes to bringing real and personal art to superhero comics.

Well, I'm going home to buy the first three issues of Hawkeye.

Is it too much to hope that he'll be wearing his old purple costume and mask anytime soon?

I love the old costume but I say, just keep an open mind when reading it. Everything will make sense on why the series is as it is right now, promise. Also, you'll get your wish for the old costume in issue #3, but not in the way you think.

This is as annoying as Hawkeye.

"capital-C comics", jeez.

We need to get our terminology right, so let me extend a branch by proposing the following.

"comics" is for things like whatever guys like Nick Spencer or Scott Lobdell are doing.

"COMICS" is for big dumb things like Avengers Vs. X-Men

"Comics" is for things like Fraction on Hawkeye

"Comics in their purest form" is Building Stories

We need to get our shit together. LET'S WORK ON THAT.

OMG yay, Emma Rios art on Cap'n Marvel 5! <3 <3 <3 <3

By the way, there was a cool bit os synchronization between unrelated comics.

On Uncanny X-Men
Magik cuts Cyttorak out of Colossus
, then on Dark Avengers
Juggernaut gets it back

3 issues in and hawkeye is leagues better than the court of owls nonsense

Court of Owls could have been great as a backdrop/build-up, but throwing it all together in succession alongside that "twist" ending in issue 11ish...it felt rushed and cheap. Issue #5/6 were the highlights to that arc and what i take away from it, great issues. The cynic in me would think they rushed it because DC wanted to have a crossover theme event.

But DC can still be discussed here! They have good books and stuff. And...Pandora?

My ranking of the last few books I've been reading or caught up on:

Saga > Hawkeye >> Locke & Key >>>> Batman >>>>>>>>> Uncanny Avengers

This is a highly scientific scale, bro. Each ">" represents a gradient of 5% on your traditional 0-100% grading scale. Saga earns a perfect 100%, as it's the best comic book I've read since, wait for it, Y: The Last Man. Hawkeye is an incredible 95%, and so forth. I do not like the first issue of Uncanny Avengers.

Just picked up my books from the last couple weeks and Hawkeye is definitely the best read I've had since Waid Daredevil. Glad I jumped on this boat from the beginning. It's been such a great time.

Ballin' fan art.

Plus, for anyone potentially into self published stuff:

I got The Mire by Becky Cloonan yesterday. Good stuff.

I just gotta say, the Justice League in Batman Beyond's time SUCKS. Like, Aside from Aang the Green Lantern, I wouldn't want ANY of them to be the Earth's hope. Well, maybe Aqua Girl. No, they all suck except the Green Lantern.

Also I can't decide if knowing that Terry and Dana's relationship is a foregone conclusion is a good thing or not in this case. It subtracts all the drama from it, but at the same time, the drama has literally not changed since the first episode.

You got nothin'!

NOTHIN!

They need a Black Panther and Namor team-up book.

a) It's Imperius Rex you dolt
b) Isn't New Avengers gonna be a bit of that, considering it's basically the Illuminati book? So fucking hype for Hickman dang son.

Well it's kind of a good thing though isn't it? I mean yea they'll fight, but then they just make up a few chapters later. It just means we don't have to deal with a stupid relationship drama thing that spans chapters and chapters.

Epting, and yeah it's a December/January book but holy shit Marvel has been super stingy with news about Hickman's Avengers, which is weird as heck considering it's their big movie franchise thing.

The solicits are out and they don't tell a whole lot either. Hickman must want to play this one really close to the vest.

Well isn't that a pisser. :(

Would anybody here be interested in taking my Saga run off my hands before I hit ebay with it?$15 shipped for issues 1-6.

We need a comic Buy, Sell, Trade thread up in here. I really don't want to deal with the rainbow of autistic disorders that comes with ebay and comic collectors. :\

So I finished Batman Beyond 011, and HOT DAMN THAT INQUE ISSUE. Freaking love Inque! She's by far the best member of his rogue's gallery. Even if her back story is Sniper Wolf minus Big Boss plus MUTAGEN.

Freakin' love Inque.

Guess I should probably fork down for the rest of Hawkeye, soon, so's I can be caught up on the awesome that it is.

I've been enjoying Batman Beyond as well. Not the most ground breaking series but alot of fun.
