The news media has been unprofessional during this Presidential Race.

They seem to be all colluding together to make the Presidential Race look close for views instead of doing professional journalism. Holy shit I didn't think their professional integrity could get worse.

Take this for example:

What the fuck is CNN doing?

What a barrel of cunts.

It's always bad. Each time, networks get worried about ratings and some newscasters feel like they have to put their two cents in to influence the election.

These barrels of cunts like ratings; did you really expect good journalism from any television source this election?

1.CNN has been bullshitting all season. The fact checkers barely fact check and even when something is a clear fact they will say "true" and qualify it in some way.

2. They poll based on people who watch the debate not people who vote and more republicans watch the debate than democrats. Therefore skewing the poll numbers slightly. They mention it briefly but don't explain the percentage breakdown at all.

That's just 2 examples of this nonsense.

Also get rid of that raggedy struggle 3d nonsense.

This nation, under the Christian God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the dollar, by the dollar, for the dollar, shall not perish from the earth.

News is a business. Get those ratings. We love that dirty laundry.

Yep.

Lately they've also been using Frank Luntz tactics for polling.

the media is the main reason politics is such a cesspool of shit and why everyone is so fucking divided all the time

Yup. And instead of actually analyzing and fact checking what is being said in the debates, all they tell is who "won" based on their demeanor and body language. No doubt those things are important but then these people are just promoting that the candidates to be convincing liars rather than accountable leaders of the country.

The idea that someone just overall wins or loses (or ties...REALLY? a tie?) is idiotic. The debates are 2 hours, you can't just arbitrarily declare a winner. Why not try to logically break down the debate into sections and declare a winner for each part? That way it'll allow some insight into what's being said and will allow the audience to know/understand exactly where the candidates stand on specific issues. And then declare a winner and loser for their demeanor and body language and an overall winner by tallying it up for an overall score.

But that probably makes too much sense...

Our main stream media is a joke. Not worth the time wasted listening to any of their "opinion" on the topics that they "choose" to cover.

CNN's slide into the spinning toilet drain started as soon as they stopped focusing on the news, and started focusing on the repercussions/reactions to the news. They figured the reactions bring more popcorn than the news story itself. Their coverage of State Dept's handling of Libya was deplorable. Basically bringing partisan morons from the other side to blast the State Dept nonstop, rather than investigate and find out (like NYTimes did) why the State Dept was giving conflicting reports. It turns out that basically CIA was feeding information to State Dept as things were happening. Why couldn't CNN do this simple investigation task? Another example, they have squiggly meters that judge undecided voters' reactions on the fly during debates. This is not only wholly unnecessary, but distracts you, the viewers, from focusing on what the candidate is saying and makes you looking at the squiggly lines (the reaction to what the candidate is saying). It's just bad business. They've turned into the bookies that bet on horse races (not necessarily presidential race, but any major event), examining and hedging every reaction to the event.

CNN International on the other hand is solid. Please do support it if you live outside the US.

I remember in the 2008 election, all the news outlets were pumping that the election was a real nailbiter, but as soon as Obama won the attitude was "yeah no shit, McCain never had a chance"

I'm a liberal, but are people really expecting Obama to win in a Reagan-like landslide or something? I think Romney has a very difficult time winning the electoral college vote, but I'm betting this will still be a very close election just like the last two presidential elections as far as the popular vote goes.

I just remember 2004 when all the national polls and election-day exit polling was predicting a Kerry win. I'm not saying the polls are wrong, but anything can happen on election night.

Romney Popular vote win and Obama EC win, would bring this divided country together under the banner of hypocrisy.

There's this persistent belief in America that people should be allowed to believe whatever they want, even things that are very blatantly untrue. Americans have done a good job of marrying the concepts of opinion and fact--they are the same here, and since you are entitled to your opinion and thus entitled to your facts.

This is important because the media is essentially toothless in this scenario, they are simply mouthpieces for what politicians want us to hear, with very little fact-checking. You know "lol games journalism" well that's essentially the same dynamic.

My Facebook was flooded with people bitching about Candy Crowley after the second debate, saying she shouldn't have fact checked Romney. I asked these people if the candidates should be allowed to say factually untrue things, and the response was always "Voters should be allowed what they believe." Yes, you should be allowed to agree or disagree with reality.

Seriously I know you Americans love your constitutional free speech rights but isn't it time at least during election campaigns you started doing what we do here in the UK and force TV news to give fair and accurate coverage and equal time to the candidates

The republicans and democrats have been colluding for years to prevent that.

Weeks before the election = "OMG Its so close! It's all on the fence sitters and look what they're saying! tune in!"

Couple days before election = "OH Here are the real numbers. We're gonna finally report facts so after candidate X wins, we can say we 100% predicted it!"

After election = "We predicted it, and we have more predictions on how this next 4 years is going to turn out. Tune in!"

Have we not learned anything from 2008 and 2000? I'll give the news corps 2004 because it was legitimately close.
