FF (Hickman's final issue)- Damn this was a great ride. They really need to put out a complete collection, if anything was going to be worth that money it would be this.
 
Loved AvX-Babies. Very cute.

That said, I'd love make this kinda room if I ever have a kid. Would be fun. (Hawkbaby outfit would probably be too much trouble to make)

And then I read Hickman's final FF and I cried a lot.

FUCKING MARVEL COMICS.

Also, Secret Avengers was MAD CRAY-CRAY. But Spike is mostly being a dick about it. Somewhat. I think. Maybe that's not what he's talking about. STILL, THE ISH WAS CRAY.

that character return has me more upset after seeing the leak. i dont like that the character was revived so soon. i know why. but i dont like it.

It's been what, four years? That's pretty long for a comic book character to stay dead.

Compared to someone like Johnny Storm, who was barely gone for a year, it's practically an eternity.

Regardless of Marvel marketing to boost sales, Johnny Storm died in his own book as part of a larger story that was resolved in the same book. It was pretty obvious even from the start that his death would be temporary.

The Wasp
was yet another one of those big event deaths that happened because Marvel (and DC) feel like at least one sort of popular character needs to be killed in every event for emotional impact. The fact that almost all of them return from the dead within 5 years makes Marvel event deaths pretty pointless.

4 years is hardly an eternity. but the time isnt the problem im having. its the fucking up of characters that i have an issue with.

could be brought back in one of the Avengers Academy storylines from last year, IIRC.

They killed
her
off at the end of the Secret Invasion storyline:

"Janet was among the Mighty Avengers who were fighting heroes from the Skrull ship. She was later seen with the rest of the Avengers heading to New York to confront the Skrulls. While fighting the Skrulls, the true purpose of the serum that the Skrull Hank Pym gave her was revealed. After Queen Veranke was thought to be dead, Skrull Pym pressed a button that made Jan increase in size rapidly. She realized the "new" particles Pym gave her were turning her into a bio-bomb. Jan was seen growing to huge size, emitting black-purple energy, and about to explode. Janet tried to flee the battlefield trying to take as many Skrulls with her as possible. To save the humans, Thor killed her to put her out of her misery, vowing to avenge her.[43] After her death, Hank Pym resolved to take up his fallen ex-wife's mantle and became the Wasp."
 
It certainly didnt feel obvious to me Johnny Storm would return. I've casually enjoyed Hickman's run, even though the pace was far too slow a few years back around that time, and remember being pretty pissed it was just a year and he was back. Felt really dumb. As is Spider still being an FF member since his return.

Xavier dying feels like such a non-event too. He was just sort of offed without any dramatic panel at all, and all the funerals and stuff after are supposed to sell it.

Having finally read Point One, I really dont see how the FF book is going to work unless Cassie comes back in Issue 1 or 2.

Comic book deaths are all lulzy really.

marvel has a system for why dead characters return. its pretty funny too.

Dark Reign: Fantastic Four, then all of Fantastic Four until #588, then all of FF until #11, then starting with Fantastic Four #600, you alternate Fantastic Four and FF until the end.

F4 #570. There's also prior stuff from Dark Reign but it's not necessary, although worth reading I suppose. I'll also say that I was entertained by the Millar/Hitch run that preceded Hickman's, and there is quite a bit of carryover from that into Hickman's run, but I think you could get away without reading it.
 
Was Superman #0 any good? I'm excited to read the new Scott Lobdell Superman but won't be grabbing #13 until it drops in price in a month.

I'm pretty sure every member of the Fantastic Four has died at least once by this point. The chance that any of them are ever going to stay dead is basically 0. Also, the way Johnny Storm died totally set up his return. They'll have a harder time explaining how they brought Prof X back for the fifth time in a few years given what is happening in Uncanny Avengers.

Event deaths are only permanent when they happen to characters like Black Goliath, or the New X-Men.
 
Jan's
death was even less permanent than most in that there was never a body for everyone to huddle around and mourn with downcast faces, while a love interest cradled the corpse and screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" at the top of their lungs. Just *poof* and gone.

I think he was talking about doing his own book at some point. I'd like to see that.

Only two books this week. Tossed the fish back and will wait for a bigger catch next week.

Dynamite did the unthinkable and got two covers for the Shadow that made me indecisive! Chaykin and Ross covers were amazing, but I went with Ross.
