No, the GTX 660 OEM is on GK104 too. Only the GTX 660 retail is on GK 106.

nVidia is not really communicating about it, but here is an extract from a Tom's hardware back in September :

Edit : and yes, it's not really a fantastic card for AA and very high-res (which matters less for X51, most than probably destined to be hooked on a Television capped at 1080p and played from a greater distance anyway).
Awesome info, thank you!

Good point about not really needing AA on a TV set, I hadn't considered that.

I haven't been able to connect to the Internet all day on my X51. It says that it is connected to the home network but there is "No Internet access". We have an iMac in the house that isn't having this problem. Anyone know what the deal might be or how I can fix it? I've restarted the router twice now and no dice.

Try to release and then renew the connection. Open a command prompt and type:

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

See if that helps.

Just tried this. It says this upon entering ipconfig/renew:

No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected. No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection while it has its media disconnected. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected. An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1: The system cannot find the file specified".

Whatever that means. Help?

EDIT:Answered my question about upgrading this for future use.

However-
While this will be hooked up to my TV how good would this be for either recording gameplay (Off PC games themselves or with a capture device so I can get console gameplay)
and for livestreaming?

I was worried I was going to want to upgrade right away, but this thing is aces. Borderlands 2 is running with everything turned on high. Skyrim is running in Ultra with the High res texture pack installed.

So far so good!

Awesome, I was wondering the same thing but if you're running all that so well already looks like theres no need to.

I don't know if this is the appropriate way to do this, but I would go to network connections in the control panel and delete all of my saved wireless networks and re-connect.

Well, I think he got the i7 and 16gigs of RAM model as me. 16gigs is overkill, but I'm using this for music production as well. You'll be fine with a i5 and 8gigs(The i5 is recommend for gaming over the i7)Was going to go with that on labor day, until someone from Dell told me to wait for the 660 model. I saved up a little more, and went all out. Besides that, I'm glad he posted current games running in ultra, so glad.

I was thinking about going with the i7 and 16gb of ram since i'll be video editing, recording, and streaming. Makes sense right?

Anyone play Dark Souls on the x51? Would I be able to play it with the resolution fix? Got the i7, gtx 660 model btw.

Yep. Nothing in the custom build world that even comes close to this either. There's a prototype itx case in the works from NFC, but the price of the thing will make it so the X51 (outside of lacking the ability to get that magic 4.0 GHz) is a better buy.

It's such a good deal when you add in that aesthetic/size X factor.

Also, to give you guys some insight on what I mean by the magic 4.0GHz, this is what Unreal Engine 3.0 does when you increase clock speed:

So I even cancelled my Wii U preorder since I realized I want to do a big push into PC gaming. Since it basically solves all my problems that I am having with this gen and what more than likely is coming next gen.

With that said what's a good Wireless Mouse and keyboard you'd recommened for gaming?
I know someones going to say Well you want wired but no I don't.
Im not a big MP guy so I don't care at all about some sort of advantage, At most i'll play coop with friends. So a wireless Mouse and Keyboard will do me just fine.

It's just hard to pick because there are so many to choose from.
To narrow it down I want something that looks like its for a gamer, but not something thats completely overboard. I've seen some of those mice and that they look like a transformer it's just weird.

Just got my unit in this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to hook it up yet(Just got out of work)I'm going to use the wireless Apple keyboard(Love the design and feel)As for the mouse, I'm getting the Microsoft Arc Touch. The egronomics and comfort is what sold me. Tried it for gaming, and no problems.

I use this because it works on glass!

That's a disappointment, it's still a pretty expensive chip I think? Any alternatives you'd recommend?

Well the max number of CPU cores that a socket 1155 CPU supports is 4 (2 less than the 980X).

Do you need hyperthreading?

If so you should get an 1155 i7, if not go for a i5.

Well it's mostly for Dolphin and PCSX2. I think a machine like this at 4GHz+ is going to be future proof for a few years otherwise.

Placed my order jsut now.
Went with the i7, with 2TB HDD, and 16gb of ram.
With the 15% off it came out to 1300 (rounded)

Which isn't bad at all.
Was going to wait for black friday, but I don't see them doing much more than that.

Geez, so that brings the stock i7 model down to $1019. Tempting. I've been looking into building a "comfy couch" gaming PC (for strictly gaming, I have Macs and iPads for everything else), but all of the HTPC-sized cases are still too big and the smaller ones can't fit gaming GPU's.

Hmm.

Hmm.

It's been getting nothing but love from this thread especially since this is the newer model.
Main reason I jumped on it was for the same reasons you're thinking about.
Especially since even if you did make PC like this the price is actually very close especially due to the case. One of the few times where it isn't outrageous like you see with the alienware desktops.

Glad you asked this question because I'm finally seeing suggestions that I never saw in the official PC build thread.

I might play some multiplayer, but the truth is that I'm always gonna be sitting 10-15' away from my computer if I hook it up to a TV. It's either this or a super-long cord.

My other problem though is that I'd rather not waste a USB port and get a bluetooth PCIe card instead. I don't know where to start looking for those though. As for keyboards, I already own an Apple bluetooth keyboard, but what if I want something with a number pad?

Hopefully someone can answer about the PCIe bluetooth since i'm not very good on that front.
As for the Keyboard the only one I know of with a keypad is this

Which is the one my friend uses. Though im not sure how comfterable that keypad not attaching to the keyboard will be for you.

I've been pretty happy with the KB/M combo in the OP

Apple keyboard is great, fantastic keys, lightweight, looks good and battery lasts for ages.

G700 mouse has been great too, assigning 7 keys made one hand Diablo 3 totally viable, plus great for prone, grenades, use in games like MW3 and BF3. Only downside is that it doesn't work on glass.

Was there a pic in this thread showing the size compared to eg a 360 or ps3?

And do you need particular wireless dongles if you're 10ft away? I have a standard logitech unified receiver IMO Mac mini and we sometimes have glitchy inputs sitting 8ft away. Don't know if the machine is shielding the signal or its too far away?

Here's a comparison

I've got the Logitech USB dongle, tiny and super reliable since it's not BT. Never had a problem. My TV is about 10-12 ft away.
