She's still in High School and acting like she's a taxpayer. Probably just spouting off what she heard from her parents.

A quick Google search finds many of these people even outside their accounts. Hopefully some of them get scholarships and/or jobs taken away for these stupid comments showing their true personalities.

So who's going to email their school with that picture. There are bound to be black people at that school. These people are so stupid. All it takes is one person (me) sending that stuff to her school or to a black person at her school for her to get suspended and what not.

I don't know why I'm so addicted to this thread, even though I feel like I have lost IQ points everytime I read the republican crap people write.

Things I took from that:

- Anyone agreeing with him should never use government assistance in any form (tax breaks included) ever again
- Everyone who voted democrat is a peon who embraces weakness somehow

I'm not from the US so excuse the stupid question... but reading around it seems like Republican voters truly believe that Democrat voters don't have jobs and that they are (Republicans) propping up society. Is that a fair assessment of how Republican groupthink works?

It's a bit mindblowing to me because I'm a businessman and I couldn't even contemplate voting Republican if I was in the US. Even if it meant being slightly less wealthy, many of their policies seem abhorrent to me, truly prejudiced in some cases.

haha

Whats even more ironic is that 'blue states' take less from federal government then the 'red' ones.

This is Erik Shetney from Minneapolis. As a red in a blue city, he says he's used to liberal colleagues reducing him to a cliche.

I'm opposed to the middle class. I am completely supportive of the concept of a robber baron, almost from the Gilded Age in the 1890s, that I am all about making rich people richer. And I think it's acceptable to do this at the expense of poor people who consume government services.

Reducing you to a cliche, you say. It's hard to comprehend how callous and walled-off these people are.

I get off on their suffering because they hate me and my kind and want to go back to a time when my parents and grandparents couldn't even pee in the same bathrooms or drink from the same water fountains, and this is also the sole reason they wanted Romney in the White House, so fuck them.

So many of them want the comfort of the 1950's family-value mythology, yet they forget that in those times the upper-class was taxed up to 91%

It is a shame that the elections divide so many and expose our dysfunction. But the republicans created a beast out of these fundamentalists/evangelicals (who's preachers encouraged to NOT vote before the 1980's) and now they carry that baggage of hatred, bigotry, and fantasy.
The US could use a real republican at some point in the future, someone who can tell these zealots to go fuck themselves because their followers have just made a mockery out of them.

My mother mentioned during our time chatting on our commutes that "47% of the country feels entitled..." and then asked my why I chuckled. I came up with a quick lie.

Are you saying everyone who voted for Romney is a racist? I voted for Romney and I am not a racist.

Can I be rude and ask why you did?
From the UK and I'm genuinely interested

Not rude in this context, so don't worry. Some people don't like to talk politics, but if you're hanging out in a politics thread...

I didn't vote for Romney when he was my governor in Massachusetts, and I sure as hell didn't vote for him this year.

This thread started off fun, but I couldn't really make it through. A lot of people really do in a total fantasy world divorced from all reality. And it's all media driven. It can create these bubbles of total ignorance now.

If you listen to or watch the right people, you can see the bubbles forming and follow them all the way down to your ignorant Republican co-worker who suddenly comes in at some point complaining about 8 FUCKING DAYS and FISCAL CLIFF.

It's amazing that you can actually see where they're getting this ridiculous bullshit.

This. Let's not pretend for a second that if the conservatives had emerged from this victorious that they would somehow be any more sympathetic to us than we are of them. Less so, in fact. They'd have defeated a Democrat incumbent and they'd be eager to rub it our faces. They had pent up so much bitterness over the last 4 years that it's the only way some of them can express themselves.

If Romney had won, we would still have a thread on GAF chronicling the racist and xenophobic Facebook diatribes of conservatives. Except they'd be doing it because they won. It's not like they can shut this shit off.

I live thousands of miles away and I can see where they're getting it. Fox News clips on youtube are always good for a laugh.

No, I doubt that every single person that voted for Romney is a racist, but everyone involved in the race-based campaigning, dog whistling about welfare and food stamps, using code words like "marxist" and "socialist," crying about how "that nigger" is still in office, posting about assassination attempts, and have the nerve to lament about how conservative bigots are becoming the minority, is, and they can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned.

Oh I mean even up above Fox, the talking points usually don't start on Fox, but they end up there by the time their morning show is airing.

It's disheartening when you start hearing reputable news sources like NPR using the terminology of the Right. I heard them talk about the 'Fiscal Cliff' on Morning Edition today and it made me so sad.

Stop letting the crazy fuckers define how we talk about our problems. It's not a Fiscal Cliff no matter how many times Karl Rove says it.

Don't announce who you voted for if you don't want to be asked why

Yeah, the rude thing to do is ask who someone voted for if they're not inclined to tell you. If someone tells you, but doesn't tell you why, it's open season on guessing their reasons. And there are only so many reasons to be voting for Romney to begin with.

Not quite facebook... but damn, "more terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history"

You and I heard the same thing, then.

I deleted Facebook a few months ago so I came into this topic for the laughs, but it has had the complete opposite effect on me. HOLY SHIT, this country is……….fucked if this is how a sizable portion of our population thinks. I honestly cannot believe some of the things that I’ve seen here. Between the religious drones, and the brazed racism I refuse to believe that I’m the same species as some of these people. How is it 2012 and there are still people (esp. young people) that think like this, seriously!? Come on evolution, fix this shit.
