Yeah, Secret Invasion felt like the "end" of his run, then Siege happened (which was actually pretty good) and then that felt like the end. Then it just kept going. The beginning of The Heroic Age would've been the perfect time for him to exit. After "The Avengers" came back and "New Avengers" relaunched, I just kind of lost interest.

I like Bendis just fine, but I think, much like Geoff Johns, he enjoyed "sticking the landing" so much that he tried to stretch it out as far as it'd go, which can get tiresome.

That's because he really didn't plan ahead. I guess we'll never know if it was his fault, or if it was just impossible to accommodate Marvel's editors mandates.

Hickman ended his FF run with a bang, Bendis ended his Avengers run with a whimper...that's the difference planning ahead makes.

The combination of $3.50 cover price, shitty paperstock, and Nick Pitarra's art is pushing me away.

I know folks love to crap on IDW's pricing; but IDW books generally feel like a quality product.

IDW does indeed make good quality books, the TMNT issues are super solid and nicely crafted. As far as I can tell, Marvel has the absolute worst paper quality *looking at you Hawkeye*

more proof ttob is awful- even after hickmans letter after this issue basically saying "ok set up is over, time to go balls deep into the universe". mp is only going to get better. and i haven't picked up a hardcopy of mp since 4 but from what i remember the paper/cover were pretty solid, no ads throughout, beautifully designed covers, etc.

idw does make really solid books, i've been getting stokoe's godzilla and will obviously get locke and key whenever the last arc starts.

hawkeye is without a doubt the worst quality writing / paper ratio i've ever seen. i remember seeing an ad through the cover on the first issue and groaning. definitly not going to pull an immortal iron fist and skip the omnibus. will be a day 1 purchase.

How many issues was this first arc of Uncanny Avengers supposed to be? I would imagine that Cassady will get switched out after that, and Marvel will try to get the series caught up via double shipping. I don't mind the odd delay, but if you can't even manage to get two issues of a monthly book out on time when you were likely given months of lead time, you should stick to drawing covers and leave sequential art to someone who can get the contracted work done more or less on time.

Some of the fault may have been Warren Ellis' (never really read up it), but Planetary's momentum was destroyed by delays. Even Astonishing X-men found itself finishing up a story that (outside of kitty) had little bearing on the rest of the X-Universe due to its massive delays.
