Nintendo Downloads - November 2012

In the Wii U eShop, I think the ratings are currently being reversed.

Case in point:

Are you sure?

I've got 400pts in the Wii Shop. I suppose I'm an idiot for asking if this is going to transfer over to the WiiU eShop?
It doesn't go to the eShop, but you do keep the 400 points - you just have to use it on the Wii Shop Channel on the built-in Wii Mode.

Personally I have 1000 points I need to kill. Not sure what I'd kill it on, though. Tempted to nab Monster World IV, but then I'd have 200 points to kill, and egh.

Are there any titles which can't be transferred to the Wii U?

I ask as I thought I saw someone reporting that Lost Winds couldn't be transferred over, and that puzzled me.

That was me saying Lost Winds couldn't be transferred. It was the only one of my games that wouldn't transfer though. I never bought Lost Winds 2 but I wonder if that transfers.

Heh.

Nintendoland in the Deluxe bundle doesn't come with a code, but you still get coins for it... sort of.

If you register your Wii U Deluxe bundle, it tells you that you can return in a week and fill out a 50 coin post play survey for Nintendoland.

This makes it a little bit better!

I sold my physical copy on eBay and downloaded the digital version. I guess I'll be filling out that survey twice?

Sux I spent the Wii generation on a NTSC console but now for Wii U going PAL only (for the immediate future anyway) so I can't transfer all my stuff over. :(

Now to decide if I re-buy some of my favs again. >_<

Don't. You're better off waiting for the WiiU VC and rebuying them there.

I don't think I'll be transferring any of my Wiis, but if I ever do it will be my (hacked) white Wii that can't read discs and has almost all of my VC. I'll only be giving up SMW, LTTP, Chrono Trigger, and my SSBB / MKW saves, which are all tethered to my red Wii.

I am enjoying Nano Assault Neo so far, but I have only played the first level. I wasn't quite doing as well as my usual twin-sticking shmuping with the hand placement being so different, but I eased into it. I have a Pro Controller on its way in the mail though, just in case. It reminds me of Super Stardust HD, just not mind-numbingly boring (which, to its credit, that game fixed with its Endless Mode).

Anybody up to swap Nintendo IDs to do some high score comparisons? I would definitely like some people on my Friend's List that are going to be getting into the download/indie game scene on the system. I am PixyJunket, if you want to add me.

Just wanted to say Nanostray Assault Neo is great so far, excellent arcade shooter. Basically like Super Stardust but with cooler enemies and better graphics.

November 22nd European Download PR.

Nintendo of Europe have announced the latest content to be made available through the Wii Shop Channel, Nintendo DSi Shop and Nintendo eShop.

The full list of content is as follows:

Virtual Console (Wii)
* The King of Fighters ’96, D4 Enterprise – 900 Wii Points
First released in 1996, this is the third instalment of the “The King of Fighters” fighting game series. The KOF series features an SNK all-star line-up, with characters from games like “Fatal Fury,” “Ikari Warriors,” “Psycho Soldier,” and “Art of Fighting,” competing to be the world’s strongest fighter. This instalment adds major changes: It features small, medium, and big jumps, forward and back flip emergency escapes, and it adds the extra element of guarding in mid-air. Being able to review commands makes moves easier to execute, and projectiles have been toned down. Another major turning point in the series was the removal of projectile spamming.

The main aim of PIX3D is to bring pixels dispersed in space into line to complete beautiful pixel art pictures. But never seen before pixel particle effects and wonderful 8-bit music will also bring back fond memories of youth for some, and for those too young to remember, it will be a great showcase of old times.

I don't have too much of an objection paying full price for the likes of Layton, Paper Mario or Animal Crossing but £40 for Pilotwings (small in size and content, old game, available at retail for cheap) is fucking criminal.

Friend request sent!

Anyone wanting to add me, I'm also lunchwithyuzo in the Miiverse. I play mostly retro, Japanese and indie games.

BAHAHA that Pilotwings price. Nintendo seriously needs to reconsider their pricing strategy. 45 € RRP portable games just don't fly all that well. I mean I don't ever buy at RRP and almost never in Germany anyway but if they ever want 3DS to really take off they'll have to shave these prices.

Even if you live in a country with abusive prices, such as Brazil, you can find Pilotwings cheaper than in the eShop. If you want to import the game, you can even find it on sale at Play Asia this week for 15 dollars.

Yep. There must be a lot of stock considering how low the price drops for it. Maybe Nintendo should bother to pay attention to it. I mean it was under 10 bucks at least two times already. And I would like to buy it again, but like hell am I buying at that price.

Wow that pricing is shit. Seriously 45 euro for pilotwings? I don't even buy a retail copy for 30 which is the "official" price from the company responsible for Nintendo products in Greece.

They seriously need to reconsider the online pricing, it is rediculous.

Well, I do think that it's good for Pilotwings to go up. I mean, the price is a sham, but ultimately you're never going to get a deal on the eShop, you're going to pay MSRP. The real power of digital downloads for full retail games is helping them not go out of print.

Yeah, I got mine from clearance at Sears for like 10 bucks. lol

Even though digital games have much longer availability (theoretically forever), I wonder though if publishers see a benefit to their overall performance in actively prolonging the game's life longer by periodic price cuts or sales in order to slow the natural decline in interest, particularly for a game that has fixed content with no community features.

Come to think of it, I guess that's the reason why DLC monetization is becoming so important to a game's profitability.

Consumers:
The cheaper the better

Developers/publishers other than Nintendo:
Yes, we do really well by slowly ramping down the MSRP (price stratification) as well as allowing periodic sales on game content, offering DLC to get more revenue from existing users, doing cross-promotions between our games. Steam sales are a huge benefit to us!

Nintendo:
No. All games should sell at full MSRP forever. If we make a game that doesn't sell for five years at full MSRP, we've failed. We'll consider lowering MSRP for a handful of titles years later as a token to welfare bums who buy our games late, but everything else gets thrown in the vault.

With these 3DS eShop prices I am dreading the Wii U eShop. Are we going to be looking at £49.99 for Mario Bros U?
Yes. Since no store in the UK sells games for the actual RRP and Nintendo will always sell them for the RRP only, you will always be paying more on the eShop for retail games here.

I was happy to buy Paper Mario from the eShop at launch, but I don't think it would be worth it for most non-Nintendo properties. The retail price drops too fast. Paper Mario will probably be full MSRP for quite a while.

Are NSMBU and NL confirmed to be the only games on EU eshop next week or is the third party stuff just not announced at this point.

Still not sure if I'm going to get ZombiU digital despite the account debacle.

River City Ransom and Super Mario USA for JP 3DS VC next week.
This'll be fun if it comes to Europe. You see, it was called Street Gangs over here for some reason. But the 3DS VC seems to use American ROMs for NES games for 60Hz compatibility (if it didn't Super Mario Bros would run too fast*).

*-Super Mario Bros is one of the few NES games with PAL omtimisation (make physics and music 6/5 as fast to compensate for 5/6 speed) but given the NES goes higher pitch for faster music (and lower for slower) the sound pitch is a bit higher as the maths is imperfect.

Will Zelda II for the US eShop be available at midnight? or later?

Aslo, anyone know when the #6 NSMB2 pack will be released?

New content at 9AM Pacific on Thursdays.

NSMB2 DLC is suposed to come at the end of this month. So probably the very last Thursday.

i don't think NOA has even said which retail games are on the eShop. People only know by looking at the eShop itself. So I'm sure there will be third parties on EU launch. ZombiU will probably come since it came it in America and Japan, or atleast it should.

Anywayz: The WiiU eShop has a fantastic homepage. It should show "more details. In each game's page without having to click on "more details" though. :/

Nano Assault is really fun, and I usually am not good at twin shooters. (Still not lol.)

Got $10 left so I think I may get MSF. Not sure if I should save it for another game since I already have MSF on 3DS. I wonder if theres gonna be any new games this Thursday or if they'll wait till next Thursday? Guess we'll see...

Are there are sites that have covered all of the indie/eShop releases on the Wi U so far?

AKA, is there anything I should get besides Nano Assault Neo?

I am skipping Might Switch Force since I already have the 3DS version.
