I'm not a collector yet but I don't see a problem with it. I do see a problem with taking out a weapon one carries for defense and using it for offense and claiming "Well, I *felt* threatened". There needs to be clear and absolutely legal definitions that justify lethal force. "Feeling" anything shouldn't be on the list.

I don't know about you guys, but if I feel "threatened" by someone, the last thing I would do is confront them. I'd try to avoid them.

What is with these Florida gun nuts who decide to approach black people they, for whatever reason, feel "threatened" by?

"Oh, that guy looks intimidating. I better go say hi."
 
Not defending this guy in the least, but how does one asshole killing a black kid mean that every gun owner is a racist murderer?

I collect guns, but I don't go shooting people with them because they annoy me.

If I ever leave Orlando, it's to make a b line back to California. I'm going to look into buying a bulletproof vest to avoid being randomly shot by angry racist white people.

You would be completely fine in South Florida. Just be careful if you go further north than Orlando.
 
Is there something missing to this; did the people in the car engage him in any way or make threats themselves or did he really shoot someone to death over music that was too loud? You are in a car fool, drive away maybe in any case. Earth is full of crazies.
 
I don't know what the big deal is with blasting loud music. Kids were probably blasting some dope ass 90's indie rock like Guided With Voices or Pavement. Old guy just probably didn't understand why they weren't blasting 2 Chains which is how the argument started.

More than likely the color of his skin. White people are scared of black people. I can't even remember how many times I've walked downtown in the middle of the night by myself and white people part like the red sea.

This. Not even middle of the night. Off the train in the evening in the parking lot. Just walking to my car and I get the over-the-shoulder-please-dont-attack-me-glance. I just shrug and keep walking.
 
I really have to wonder what it is in Florida that produces so much dysfunction. Is it something in the water?

I don't like how anytime a white person kills a black person it is automatically racist, with those roles reversed racism is never brought up! I hear a lot more racist terms being thrown around when it is actually black on white in a street altercation. I am not saying any of the murders are right, but stop calling them racist. With the population the way it is, if you were going to kill someone there is a good 40% chance the person will be black. In my city there is around a 51% chance you would be killing an hispanic. I am not saying you are killing them because of their race, but the population of the races living there, and the chance you kill one of any race

Because, while they may be a minority overall in the country, and in certain states/cities, there is still a large number of african americans. I think when people kill people the chances of it being of another race are high enough to discount it being racist, unless it most obviously was racist. A white man killing a black man is not racist, a black man killing a white man is not racist. Hate crimes and such should be given out very strictly when they apply to exactly why they were murdered. Even if either race doesn't like the opposite, just because they kill one does not make that a hate crime. it makes it a crime, where they happen to have hatred for the race, but its doubtful that is the sole reason it brought the person to murder them
