The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition |OT| Bow low, you stand before a head crowned.

And now I'm stuck two sections later with
Seltkirk
because I have no idea how to time riposte (and apparently there's no indicator on screen on dark difficulty) because I haven't used melee combat once so far. I'm not even getting past the first three opponents.

Goddamn, this section is fucking horrible. Really on its way to ruin the game for me. Eh I'm rage quitting for today.

just set a tonne of traps....on my Iorveth run right now I found 52 traps so far.

Is there a way to get rid of Newboy's amulet after Chapter 1?
I found out it decreases armor by 10% after Cedric had already died and couldn't get the troll tongue from Senler.

So it's very nice, even for a guy that isn't into this type of game. I feel overwhelmed though.
The brothel was cool.

I just hired a prostitute to blow some guy while I sabotage his stuff. This is amazing.

First time playing this game, I just got to
the Kraken thing and it destroyed me in 2 hits. lol. Was I supposed to be more prepared? Every fight thus far has been a breeze, then I get to this thing and I'm gone in two.
.

Games not bad tho, enjoying it I guess. I'm just finding it hard to sink some actual time into it because I've been sucked back into MH Tri and Xenoblade. D'oh.

Nah, just get not hit. Use Quen to absorb a blow if needed, but its attacks are really easy to roll.

the blaviken part?

it's a shame that the butcher of blaviken thing isn't explained in detail in the games, it's one of the better witcher moments.

Do they even mention Blaviken in either of the games? What happened there read like the contents of an RPG quest to be honest.

Finished it yesterday, great game. Some minor annoyances here and there, but overall awesome. Can't wait for a possible sequel on next-gen.

It gets name dropped a few times. Witcher 1 had "The Price of Neutrality" extra mission to show off Witcher 1's mod tools. It's about a girl sheltered at Kaer Morhen who is basically Renfri without actually being Renfri. She has the curse, looks similar, and uses some of her lines from the book.

Starting this game. My pc runs it on everything max but with ubersampling off at 100-120fps, but with uber on at only at 35-60fps. One is silky smooth, the other makes it too beautiful to pass on. Can't decide!!

Is that a download or something?

It came with the Enhanced Edition of Witcher 1. But if you patch from the original version it might have been a separate download. You had to start a separate game to play them. They weren't worked into the existing game.

I didn't buy TW1 until way after the EE came out. Never even encountered that quest.

two kinda off topic questions (it's the only thread about the Witcher series in Gaf so forgive me)

I noticed that Amazon listed this for july 2013

question is,is this book the final one before the game event
or where Geralt got Killed then resurrected by Siri?

2nd question,I watched some of the series episodes, many of them are event from The Last Wish and other books, but does this mean the series canon? because in one episode there was a female witcher..and I didn't read anything about her in the book.(is there a missing/non translated stories/graphic novels or books or something when she appeared too?)

No, there's 3 more books after that. Baptism of Fire, Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. You're also missing Sword of Destiny which is a second group of short stories that happened between The Last Wish and Blood of Elves.

Someone's only 3 chapters away from actually translating all the books themself on the Witcher game forums if you don't want to wait a decade or two for them to get around to finishing the official translations.

No, they generally butchered most of the book events and aren't considered canon.

I'm finally getting into this game despite not liking it at first.

I loved the first Witcher and immediately started Witcher 2 right after it. It did not feel right. In fact, it all felt wrong.

I gave it some time and decided to go back to it. I downloaded some minor mods but would appreciate some feedback on good mods. I played through the prologue and just started the first bit last night. The combat still seems very different and challenging for me, even on Normal. The inventory is crazy! I haven't even tried alchemy yet (besides the tutorial). I'm willing to give it more time as I've really begun to enjoy the story from the prologue. Graphics are awesome!

So I just got this off Steam, but I can't find my game saves? When I look the gamesaves folder is empty, but in game, it's bloated with autosaves.

Anybody know the best way to back up the GOG version of this game on DVDs? I'm about to uninstall but I don't wanna download all 20GB again.

Just ordered this off of amazon. As far as controller options go, I know the xbox 360 controller works, but do any from logitech work? I prefer the button/stick layout that's similar to a dualshock. Anyone use a logitech controller without doing anything extra to get it to work?

I just started this last night, only did the tutorial and first few dialogue sequences.
I never played The Witcher, will i struggle to understand the story?

Game looks really beautiful, even on 360.

I also just started a few days ago and I am having trouble understanding some of the more finer points of the story. Game throws names and locations as if you already know them.

Still don't let that deter you from enjoying a great game. Game is one of the best looking games on 360. Nice to play a game not made in the unreal engine 3.

There's a very entertaining codex (it's written by dandelion), so if you're ever lost or have no idea what they're talking about take a look through there.

Funnily enough, I think the same for people who complain about The Witcher 2's combat and then tout Skyrim as a superior game.

Indeed.

Can anyone re post the AA injector or whatever it was? I can't find it anymore and I can't remember if it was in this thread or another one.

edit: scratch that I found it. Page 65ish.

Would anyone be willing to help me optimize my PC/this game's settings? My PC is olllld(ten years+), but I've tweaked some things, and want to know if I should invest in new hardware. I can barely play W2 without it being on easy, and I really want to savor the game.

Stupid question, but: I have the launch retail version andvthe game wants to be registered to upgrade, but I have no idea if I have it registered already and forgotten my details or not. Played through it in the weeks after launch, then fell out of the loop. And Indon't remember whether the game has a cd-key for this registration or not, don't have my game case here.

What to do, I just want to replay it with the new mode and stuff.

best contact CD Projekt and describe the situation. They'll help.

Strange things happening, I registered, after inputting my email and pw the game code was already in the field, I might have done this before? Launch is sooo far back, can't remember, but my email wasn't used before, I tried "I forgot my pw". But going to Patch1 in the DLC menu in the launcher wants a DLC code for patch1? The same code is rejected by Steam, though.

Is there any specific patching history I have to do, I downloaded Patch2 from a fan site and it installed, the stopped shortly before the end and said something about the game being invalid or something along those lines, couldn't get a good look at the pop-up before it closed.

I have the leightweight mod, though.

Between this not updating and wasting a weekend with Dark Souls saying that my Bildwiederholungsfrequenz (I guess it means FPS, never heard someone use the former) is too low and going back to the main menu or just locking up or blue screening my brother's pc (haven't tried it on my own), I'm pretty averse to try and (re)play action rpgs now, might stick with dumb shooters.

I'm planning on replaying The Witcher 2 but I lost all my saves. :(

Can a brave soul upload a save after the draug battle ? Or just before.

Even though The Witcher 2 is a magnificent game I don't have the courage to go through the game again until I confront the draug boss.

Only ten bucks on Gamestop at the moment, so I snapped it up. Been waiting for a good deal.

I probably won't get into it for a while; is there a book I should read first that would help me become more immersed in the universe?

A gaffer, Forkball, called me a wussy for choosing Iorveth's path. All I have to say to him is that he's nothing more than a whoreson d'hoine.

I'm having way too much fun playing this game! I'm about to "join the deliberations" in Chapter 3. I think I'm nearing the end. Although I know I will immediately replay the game choosing the other path once I'm done with this first playthrough.
