Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

My PSN is from the UK, I live in Ireland. If I buy Wipeout 2048 here in Ireland, will I be able to redeem the online pass on the UK PSN, which is currently linked to my Vita and has all my PS3 trophies?

I imagine games are region coded to SCEE, SCEA, SCEJ rather than individual countries.

You should be able to play a game bought in Ireland ona UK account and still access everything.

I cannot fathom them making individually coded released for each country.

I caved and bought a 32GB memory card finally. My 8 gigs have been full since september and now with PS+ I was going nowhere fast.

Welcome to the gang.

Can someone please explain this to me.

In settings I have everything ticked in auto-start settings, such as near, group messaging, update online status for playstation network etc

But whenever I turn on my vita, these things aren't running ( well the apps don't appear to be open)

How does this supposed to work?

Near makes a daily update.
Group messaging i suppose is referred to party. If someone starts a party, you're notified instantly (not every 15 minutes like messages).
Online status i suppose is how you are seen in other people vitas, which is also real time.

I usually don't get any online notices from friends though, only when I open the friends app.

I believe it's not connected to the ps network until you launch friends.

OK awesome. Cause someone in this thread told me that DLC is region locked, was worried that this was maybe the case here as well.

It is the case here. But I'm 99% sure the regions are defined as SCEE, SCEA and SCEJ, rather than individual nations.

It wouldn't make sense to manufacture games for individual countries.

So for you living in a SCEE area and using an UK account, buying a retail game form anywhere else in the EU should be fine.

I imagine there are people here in other EU countries that have bought from another EU country so they might be able to confirm 100% that you'll be fine.

If you use a SCEE based account and want to play a SCEA game though you won't be able to use the online code or the DLC if it happens to be locked to the region (I think some are unlocked.)

I never launch friends unless I get a notification saying I've got a request so I'm not sure how/when it does it.

You're partially right. You only receive notifications once you login to PSN, be it when you open the friends app, or when you start a game with online component.
Some games put you in an "always logged" status, even if you're not actively playing online. i.e. the free game Treasures of Montezuma Blitz.

It's a requested feature of many VitaBros: option to have always on psn, even if that means drastically reduction of battery life.

Hold up, really? So does that mean that if I buy some DLC for Gravity Rush with my Irish PSN, and then transfer it to my UK Vita it should work? I thought it was a little strange how DLC was locked to each country... But if it's not that's awesome!

I have wipeout HD on ps3 and I also have imported wipeout 2048 from Japan.

The extra wipeout content that I got for free (wipeout HD/fury for vita) that I downloaded wont instal. I believe because wipeout 2048 is from a different region than my ps3 wipeout.

And obviously online pass won't work.

But that's different though isn't it? You imported the game from a completely different region, I'm just buying it from a different country within the same region. Plus, I own Wipeout HD on my UK account, same as my Vita, so that should work no problem

My TravelBug came back last night. He went to Edinburgh.

I didn't realise when I was sending him out that it was taking an AR photo, so he just went with a plain, black background. Time to get more creative. :D

As I said, it's how I imagine it works. Since I have a UK account and live in the UK it;s not something I've needed to try out but I know others here have. I'll send a few tweets out and see what comes back :)

This is correct, two entirely different regions. You have 2048 from SCEJ and HD from whichever region you are in.

Oh yeah if you own HD on your UK account digitally and also get 2048 on your UK account that will work fine, and it's glorious :D

Excellent, thanks for the help! Gonna (hopefully) pick 2048 up over the weekend. Seeming as I put over 50 hours into HD, I can safely assume that I'm gonna enjoy this one

Looking forward to the weekend contest! :)

Master race

It really doesn't feel like it, though. I've had my 32GB at capacity for longer than I've had free space on it, now. (I filled it about 3 months in)

I can only fit about a third of the stuff I want to on it now. And that's not even counting music I'd like to have there for some custom sountracks.

Well don't I feel less fancy over here in 4GB land now.

*starts collecting Aluminum cans so he can buy an 8GB card*

I think it was posted in here a couple of days ago that Sony has "no plans" for 64GB cards. That's pretty amazing considering Plus is here and the ridiculous profits they must make on the cards.

I dont even want to imagine that. I got a Vita for a friend a few days ago for 80€. Now if I imagine having to pay 200€ for a memcard...yuck.

@hitboxteam Any chance we'll get dustforce on the psvita ? just saying it might be great 8) @RipstoneGames

@layangbile @RipstoneGames There is a chance :)

Not a confirmation of any kind for a vita port but fills me with hope that European indies seem to want to support this sexy handheld that and Dustforce would be epic on the vita 8)

There is no way that if if the Vita does exist as long as the PSP has that they will not release larger cards.

Well, I'd still have to do the same juggling I do now, just less regularly.

I can't predict what I'm going to want to play on a particular day, and I find myself, more and more, not playing what I want to because it's too much hassle swapping something out.

I was really getting into Assassin's Creed, but it was one of the biggest games on my card, so I swapped it out to offload some PSP and PSOne stuff from my (also at capacity) PS3. Now it's like it's gone, and with every new time-sink game like VLR and Persona, it's becoming less and less likely that I'll ever go back to it.

128GB or bust.

Just do the same thing as me and use the upcoming AC3:L patch as a reason to go back and finish it up when it finally releases. This patch is supposed to get rid of the save bug thing.

There's a save bug?

I keep running into a bug where whenever I try to buy the last Dressing Chamber in the first map it blacks out the screen except for the HUD elements.

I filled mine up in a day

Time for 500GB cards.

A game save destroying save bug. If you collect some of the persona specific items, you may get a bug on your profile that you wont notice until the next time you boot it up. And then that savegame went the way of the dodo. I highly suggest making a cloud save update NOW, turn off auto cloud and then periodically updating the cloud save manually (Save ingame, load gamesave to check if gamesave is corrupt, if not -> upload).

If you plan on going mostly digital with your games the 32gb is not going to be enough and it's still stupidly expensive. I still recommend staying at maybe 8-16gb for now, buy most of your games at retail and save the space for rotating between Psn only games and ps plus.

Well shit, I was actually really enjoying Liberation too, despite all the weird graphical bugs.

Yeah me too. Looking forward to getting back to it, but I dont feel like manually auto cloud saving everytime I played. Thats why I'll just wait for the announced patch and play some other stuff in between.

On the other hand, you could also just avoid getting persona specific items (dont do the lady trading items for example) and you wouldnt encounter it. You just miss out on the "extra" content, but could play through the story as you normally would.

Google tells me this gif has has been posted more than a thousand times on GAF.

999 times of those 1000 are in this thread (and 980 of those by Wuthering).

I already bought the cool Assassin's Hood, but my save is a-okay so far. I'll back up and start playing Uncharted again.

It's really unfortunate too, Liberation plays great on my Vita. I'm not experiencing the massive slowdown that some people have complained about and their version of 18th century New Orleans is wonderful to run through and the combat feels a lot better than AC II.

You must post a random screenshot and a game recommendation since you got the top post on a page.

Make it a good one!

where did this start anyway?

CRAP! Gimme a second.

My recommendation is above, I've so far only played 2 Vita games and Liberation is my favorite of the two.

lol, its a mix of two thread "traditions". I started the random screenshot thing, and I think Carl was the one who used top of the page posts first to advertise game recommendations. Someone just mixed those 2 up and started doing both :P

I like it though, people should be greeted with something nice about a game and a screenshot when entering this thread.
