Sculli. Is there ever a time or moment in your life in which you are just enjoying a movie without analyzing it to death. That you are laying on the couch with a big bag of potato chips and really have your mind and thoughts drift off? Aren't you ruining the whole movie experience for your self this way?

I loved the TDKR, but I still think BB is my favorite of them all. But it's not like I'm going to hate on it, just because it has flaws. Sometimes I think you're so obsessed by this movie, you can't even properly enjoy it anymore. No offense buddy :)

Are you serious with this post? I always try to watch movies without any preconceived notions or info about precisely because I am all about the experience of watching the film. Just because I try to recognize what did and didn't work for me in a film after the fact, it doesn't mean I'm breaking the film down beat by beat whilst watching it.

Yes I am serious. But ok, I know now that what I asked is not the case with you. But I was asking also, because the older I get, the less I can totally immerse myself in a film. Videogames too. And that is a shame because I remember when I was a kid, movies and games sucked me totally in. I really hope I can have some of that back someday :(

I love all of the Nolan films that I have seen (Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises). They all rock. As a result, I am happy.

You all can suffer.

I still find immersion easy in movies and television shows, but I agree, games have somewhat lost that touch with me. It takes a lot of effort on my part to really dive into a game at this point.

Watch better movies? :P

I know what you what you mean, but I think it depends a bit on the movie (it does to me). Some movies are just so captivating. Maybe I'll start losing it with age, but I doubt it. As long as the they're great the immersion continues.

Just saw this thought it was alright. The weakest of the 3 for sure but still fun.

Anyone know why during the massive mob fight (between cops & inmates/terrorists) did no one use their guns? I thought everyone was armed? That scene was just beyond ridiculous.

Because it looks cool.

I just showed this to a friend of mind and we're both just shocked at how every single move in that choreography has something wrong with it. Every single one! How is that even possible?! It's three goddamn seconds wrong.

Bane's goons did use guns... while they were rushing at the cops. I remember a few cops getting cut down, but why they didn't just stand there and open fire is beyond me.

Maybe recruiting an army from the city population of degenerates and douchebags isn't the best idea.

That is true ofcourse. I think maybe it has also to do with my mindset.

Most of the villains forget how guns worked in this film. By most I mean all.

Why does the guy on the left fly backwards?

I lost faith in TDKR as soon as Selina Kyle elegantly somersaulted out of that window. I couldn't believe that happened. How do you justify doing that. Is she a special agent? Where'd she get her training? I expected an explanation, at least. No explanation.

Play that in contrast to the scene after ''now we're two'' when Batman leaps off the ledge of a building and makes a real rough landing. He had some gear on, and he's been training for this type of stuff.

edit: i just remembered she got bit by those cats, nvm

I'm sure it must hurt a little seeing scenes in movies you love fuck up like that :P

Now you all know how I feel about the Sonny beating Carlo scene in the Godfather!

She got bit by a bunch of cats remember? Didn't you see Batman Returns?

That gif... Haha.

Check out how long the second guy that gets hit waits and does nothing before Batman punches him again. And how come the guy to the most left in the foreground does nothing. It looks like he falls after that waiting dude gets attacked by Bats or something?

im gon say because its pg13

Still liked it more than any other comic book movie besides The Dark Knight upon rewatch.

I'm actually looking forward to my eventual re-watch. I didn't like it much the first time I saw it but I may or may not have been in the right head space. I didn't like Eternal Sunshine the first time I saw it but now I consider it one of the best movies of all time.

Maybe TDKR is my favorite movie ever and I don't know it yet. Or maybe it'll be just as bad if not worse. WHO KNOWS!

Someone needs to get that Batman fighting the goons .gif posted by g0tm1lk and add "POW" "ZAP" "KERPLUNK" in it.

That's all this film needed to make it better...maybe nipples on the cat suit would help too.

I hope the next Batman incarnation addresses the fact that he's supposed to be ninja-like in his movements.

This is something I felt BB was leaps and bounds better than the sequels at. Everybody used to shit on Nolan for his 'crappy editing' during the fight scenes, but I always saw it as effective editing. It really put you into the mindspace of the cronies trying to get a handle on Batman - who would disappear and reappear in flashes and blurs.

Then TDK suddenly had Batman as this ultra-robotic fighter - something TDKR made much worse.

What's funny is that the whole (narrative) reason for changing his suit after BB was so he could be much more agile and faster, yet he got much worse.

Begins Bruce is a beast.

So...should I get the Batman Begins Steelbook Blu-Ray...? I have it on DVD, but I'm thinking my first rewatch should be the trilogy with all blu-rays. Never saw Batman Begins in theaters either. Is the Batman Begins blu-ray a much better experience? At least my DKR steelbook was dropped to $25 on Best Buy from $30, so I've already saved half of what the Batman Begins one costs on Best Buy anyway.

Another thing that irked me when rewatching it last night is how the mention that the League of Shadows is back is done in passing, like it's no big thing.

Why Nolans and Goyer would opt for that instead of having Bruce find out when Bane says 'Theatricality and Deception are powerful agents to the uninitiated, but we are initiated, aren't we Bruce? Members of the League of Shadows' is beyond me.

Yeah, it's so weird when Alfred is talking about Bane's history all of a sudden and it's like, how the hell do you know so much about this guy already? Having the revelation pop up in that scene like you suggested would have been a big, big improvement.

Yeah, that moment felt really out-of-character for Alfred. Almost like something out of a Nolan fan-fic.

I'm sure that Bruce had told him about the LOS, but for them to start talking about what happened in BB so freely after ignoring it in TDK just came out of nowhere.

TDK:

Bruce: (wanting to hang up the cowl) People are dying, Alfred. What would you have me do?
Alfred: Endure. They'll hate you for it. But that's the point of Batman.

TDKR:

Alfred: I never wanted this for you.

Stop playing mind games with the poor bastard, Alfred!

Anybody else cringe when Ra's shows up again and says ''I tolod u im imawtul''.

I thought Nolan didn't like spoon-feeding audience.

it also felt forced, just because this is the ~*~conclusion~*~*

I didn't cringe when he showed up, I cringed when he faded away like some low budget TV ghost.

I get what they were going for with Alfred. He wanted to support Bruce, so he went along with Batman (BB) and eventually saw the need for it (TDK). When Bruce still didn't cope with society, though, he realized that he wasn't going to fix himself and starts fighting for him to have a life.

But that sort of whiplash in motivation needed some time to build up, not be his default position from the start of the movie. It's too much of a turnaround from the last one. Plus, for as much as Alfred cares about him, he still watches him deteriorate for eight years without snapping him out of it. I can't imagine the Alfred (or Lucius) of the past two movies sitting there for eight years letting that happen. It sort of hurts both of their characters.

I really don't like the eight year timeskip's implications for a lot of the story/characters.

Yea the mystique was completely lost. He just became some dude in a suit in the last two movies. Always bugged me a bit.

The moment that irked me the most in this entire series was when he just walked up to the Joker and two dogs during that final scene. Didn't try to get the jump on him, didn't try to incapacitate dogs. He just... walked up. It was so horrid. Second place would be randomly blowing up cars on the Batpod during the chase scene. Third place is all of TDKR.

Bane was real eloquent with his speech when fighting Batman.

But really dumb when he read the letter. And then at the stadium when he asks Pavel to tell people what the bomb is. Like he's not sure what he's doing.
