:lol

Yeah, if you approach the game at a slow, methodical pace, there are only very few spots where something truly unfair/unblockable happens. Don't play it like an all-out action game, read the wiki for stuff you don't understand and you'll be fine.

Treat it like the zombie apocalypse - preparation is everything and being patient will keep you safe.

It's not really the same argument, though, because they just puked out a 360 port. Which is why it had the locked resolution and used GFWL. They would need to complete an entirely new online system for WiiU.

The bigger problem is that there would hardly be anyone to sell it to on Wii U. PC already has a player base. Not worth the risk. Let Nintendo worry about selling its own console, it's not Namco/From's problem. When a game is already on three platforms, there's really no need to expand further. Hardly any potential customers left, if at all.

Attacking a chest breaks the item in the chest if it's not a mimic.
Make it happen, From.

LOL, oh man. Imagine losing a titanite slab because of that.

That might get you into trouble just saying.

I really hope they feel a bit embarassed about DS1 PC and it makes them put extra care into the pc version of DS2.

A yet to play either Demons Souls or Dark Souls.

Wondering if I want to put myself through it with everything I hear about the difficulty.

Speaking as someone who has only recently gotten into Dark Souls, I think the difficulty is grossly overstated by people. Not that you won't die a lot or that its not hard, but if you're thoughtful and develop an understanding of how the systems work, its very rewarding.

I'm not opposed to this game going to any system I just wonder how many people would actually buy a Wii U version (outside of gaf).

If I had a Wii U I would probably play along and get it. I can imagine it working well with Miiverse, but at the same time I worry people will spoil it for others. I guess that's what the spoiler tag is for, though. Seeing "strong enemy ahead" is a lot more exciting and adds more suspense than seeing something like a drawn picture of the enemy on Miiverse.

I think that playing the same type of game twice through has already trained most people how to play the third, to the point where concerns about "accessibility" in Dark Souls II shouldn't really mean much to series fans.

So that fish-out-of-water struggle to figure out how to even play Demons Souls was already absent for me in Dark Souls. I'm just guessing (the same as everyone else) but when From talks about seeking to make the game more directly accessible, they could be talking about making sure everyone who starts up Dark Souls II has a better shot at learning the basics of how to play the game. It could just be giving new players the same base knowledge as people who played the first two games, and then setting them loose on the actual challenges of Dark Souls II.

Yeah, I think they're aiming for new players too. I know so many people who bought Dark Souls and quit after the first few bosses. I actually kind of liked that though, since it felt good to slowly trudge through it and face the difficulty, doing what others gave up on. If Dark Souls 2 does throw all of this out of the window in favour of making sure everyone gets to the end, I think fans would be annoyed. I doubt they would do something like that though. The difficulty is what makes the Souls games what they are.

That's just evil. And would make fake "Mimicry ahead" messages even more fun.
I always think about art of Final Fantasy's Gilgamesh when I see people fight mimics. He's standing in front of a chest, arms folded, trying to figure out the difference. Meanwhile, there's not harm in just hitting every chest and making figuring it out very easy. I would like more focus on situational awareness necessary.

Not only was this a difference you could find out but if you waiting, mimic chests would open and breath for a few moments often.

I spotted a ton of Wii talk in this thread and it got me thinking. What if this was Wii exclusive like Bayonetta, you know with all the mario talk in the opening introduction of the trailer. This thread would have been crazy (I'd be mad inwardly).

I loved Demon's Souls, I need to get cracking on Dark Souls. I always found something else to waste my time on rather than sitting down to devote time in learning this new world. I was so awesome in Demon's Souls because I memorized every nook and cranny of that game.

I'd probably buy a Wii U.

I wonder if they will spice things up and add roaming enemies. I remember miyazaki said they originally intended the black knights to randomly spawn and roam around anywhere in the game.

I just wan strength weapons to be good again like in Demon's Souls.Make it happen from.I'm seriously trying to figure out why great axes and clubs can't stunlock when ultra great swords can.I mean the shit is heavier has the same or less stamina drain when blocking an attack and less range.Don't even want to here it has more attack power excuse because at the 50 str range most of it isn't true or doesn't matter.

Also quick edit about the wii u talk.I think it can come to that platform.360 users weren't familiar with the Souls series and now they have a fanbase, same thing with PCs.Miiverse would make a good extension of the souls community.

Yeah. And even among the ultra swords, I think only the Zwei and Greatsword can stun.

I guess the trailer is implying that the "hero" is sent into a land of some sort to accomplish some task, and is given a power to be resurrected when dead. The first time he dies is when attacked by those weird dudes with masks I guess.

Undead pilgrimage time once again.

Man they could make coming across a treasure chest one of the most nerve-wracking experiences in the game.

1. like people said, attacking a chest will destroy any item inside, unless it's a mimic
2. only a slight visual differentiation between regular chests and mimic chests, something that isn't immediately apparent even if you know what you're looking for
3. after a random amount of time mimic chests will just lunge out and eat you when you're too close, even if you haven't tried to open it

All these ideas are really great. I heartily approve!

4. there's still an item that can stun them that you would never think to use outside of PvP

Seriously, FROM were evil geniuses to have that hidden function on the Lloyd's Talismans.

We still have yet to hear any kind of official statement about that.

No sales figures, no response to mods, nothing.

I'm guessing it must have been successful since DSII is coming to PC as well.

I feel like I don't post nearly enough on the gaming side these days, so fuck yeah, Dark Souls II. I imported the Chinese version of Demon's Souls way long ago, and I fell in love with the series immediately.

I hope all this "Accessibility" talk doesn't change the core of the game too much, and I hope the new director lives up to Miyazakis' standard.

Oh man, this news makes me a very happy gamer. I'll triple dip and take a week off work. Souls games really have been the brightest spark this generation and after the first 2 , I have full trust in FROM to deliver again.

Best news since Dark Souls was announced.

Honestly, I don't often dismiss games because of bad graphics. Dark Souls is probably the first one.

Something about the engine does not sit well with me. I dislike the look of the game on PC too, after looking at some videos.
I think it's the animations and the effects, they're kinda...off. Especially the shadows look weird.

Too bad, I love hard games and the setting itself.
Anxiously waiting for DSII gameplay to see if there's a big jump.

I think the animations are some, if not the best this gen. Graphics are not uncharted 2 level obviously, but the art more than makes up for it.

Why not have a covenant centered around greed that has a mimic costume as the focal point. Just like the Dragon's Covenant, but not entirely pointless (outside of the dragon's armor).

That sounds awesome. When you kill the person you're invading or the invader with the covenant mimic gear on you get double the souls - my take on it.

Do we know who made the trailer? It really doesn't look like FROM had a hand in this. They always did gameplay trailers for the last two games, focusing on bosses, enemies, and locales.
