That's just how Manara draws women.

I really like his art but I can't read his comics. They're always so...rape-y, even when he's collaborating with a writer.

As I mentioned in the UK thread recently, I really don't like Manara's pinched faces, his ladies look so bitchy, like they're all from the Joan Collins school of charm. I much prefer Guisseppe Manuta, he draws much prettier, cartoonier women with more of a sense of fun to the art.

Hawt.

Whereas Marvel is some visage of coherence???

Sorry, but the Marvel fanboyism that tends to pervade these threads makes it hard to take the armchair general finger waging and tongue tsking at DC seriously. The vast majority of their books are still good.

Where did Angelus bring up Marvel? DC editorial being incompetent and pissing off creators is nothing new. It's a pattern that's been recurring over the last 5-7 years and something that's absolutely worth discussing. This isn't PUBLISHER WARZ bullshit: grow up.

definitely when compared to DC. When creators like Cornell etc. are displeased with editorial, it points to the fact that there is some semblance of truth to the dysfunction Rich Johnston is always writing about.

They're not talking about the quality of the books, it's the corporate bullshit.

DC crybabies are just as bad as the Marvel fanboys. I don't even see much fanboying in here, outside of characters. No one seems to let DC or Marvel slide for stupid shit.

DC has had a mass exodus of writers lately including alot of big names like Morrison, Cornell, Liefield, Perez and now Simone. Pretty soon the'll kick out geoff johns too now that they found there new golden boy Snyder.

Marvel's editorial/creator relationship is by no means perfect (see: whatever's been going on with Wolverine MAX), but they're a goddamn creators' paradise compared to DC.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about me. I don't really hide the fact that I think DC is an editorially mandated company while Marvel lets their creators have more creative control. I don't think it's fanboyism, though. Seems pretty documented. I joked about it but seriously, Marvel has Creator Retreats that decide the future stories of the company. DC, by all accounts, has pretty much the direct opposite.

Whether you like the output of either company is subjective but they clearly have two very distinct ways of producing stories.

its just every week there is soms story about DC editorial going off the rails. going as far back as Dwayne Mcduffies JLA run.

Marvels editors just seem to let their writes do there thing. eevryone seems to be on the same page.

Not talking about book content but editorial being dicks which Marvel editorial currently are less dicks to creators than DC has been.

Just hoping Gail heads over to Marvel and gets a female solo of her choosing. Let it happen.

Full DC solicits out. Looks like
Batman kills someone
. My guess is
Alfred or Damian, and judging by what Batman and Robin's solicit says it's going to be Damian
. Other than that it looks like everyone gets fucked up.

EDIT: Going to add in the 50 State birds variant, featuring Deadpool.

Bail out directly after Swamp/Animal Man 17 or stay for the epilogue then bail? Probably ditch Animal and read the last Swampy, then ditch that too.

Defense GrandHarrier is defensive. Not once did I mention Marvel broham. My post was in regards to slightconfuse's link. But if you want to get into...compared to Marvel...yes DC is in slight disarray.

i ditched them before rotworld. guess i made a great call?

I think the best call would have been to not read Swampy/Animal Man at all, but all those early issue good reviews would have made skipping it hard. Rotworld Saga will make a nice omnibus, it's been brutal monthly.

Bendis put up some pages from the next ANXM. I really hope he can keep up this level of quality, it's a really great book.

Daniel Acuna on UA will do a lot to get me back into the series. Cassaday's art is just so damn basic to be that slow. Like at least Grummett and Bagley can do monthlies.

yea me too, so good

Just a head's: The List and the Siege specials are available (but not on special sale) by searching under those titles (Siege is one of the one shots) BUT, the app doesn't have the last four (?) issues of the series yet.

That The List special has McGuinness art so it's a MUST HAVE.

:(

Acuna is great news. These issues of UA really killed the love I had for Cassaday. That cap, ugh.

So any word on how Superior Spidey is going to affect Avenging and Scarlet?
