OH GOD >:O

YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER, QUENTIN! THAT'S SCOTT'S WOMAN!

Seriously, though, Jean's always had them wandering eyes, ya know?

it's a typical marvel "jean grey returns - but not really" scenario. im just confused as why this isn't a miniseries. there's going to have to be some major plot induced stupidity to justify keeping these kids in the future for a long time.

thats actually worse that superior spider man for me. fucking quire.

i hate to say this, but bringing the kids to the future seems like a reboot type scenario.

They've got to send them back at some point. This just seems like yet another way to warm people up the idea of Jean coming back.

You know it's going to happen eventually. They've basically made everything else from the Morrison run moot, anyway, so why not Jean's death?

Here's my guess: When the Phoenix Force was destroyed, it searched Earth for any sort of help. Some remnant of the Phoenix's energy was still in Jean's corpse, so it's been hiding there, biding its time, and building up strength.

But it's learned its lesson. Absolute power corrupts, so it's trying to make amends the only way it knows how: reviving people it's destroyed over the years, starting with Professor X and Jean Grey, who are going to be traveling the stars to right the Phoenix's wrongs in the brand new X-Book, X-Iles.

And it will be spectacularly awful.

Just finished Morrison's Animal Man and damn man, that ending..

It's my favorite thing that he's ever done. Morrison's name has a certain connotation now, so he usually busts out with the crazy at Issue #1. But with Animal Man, he took his time, and even though things go nuts every now and then (the Roadrunner issue, for example), it builds very slowly so that you always have something to hold onto. And then it reveals itself perfectly with an ending that really pulls at your heartstrings.

imo they should make this permanent.

I fell off the book shortly after it went back to original numbering, but isn't the David run generally well-received? I always liked it.

EDIT: And by the way, no-cap Scott is Best Scott.

It's alright, but nowhere near as good as it used to be. It got a lot worse after Messiah Complex.

And yes, Cyke without his silly skullcap is awesome. His 90s costume is my favourite and Idc. Exposed underwear and pouches are underrated!

That page when
Buddy finally sees his Family again,
i just got instantly teary eyed at that point. Such a great way to end his run seriously.

.

Or they can use the excuse they used in 1986 that it wasnt really jean that died. They already established that it wasnt magneto that killed her so why not go all the way and take all the dramatic weight out of the scene

Pulling the same trick twice would be pretty ballsy. It seems like they're really waiting it out to avoid coming off as corny and contrived. Dunno how they're going to do it, but it's gotta be coming sooner or later. Let's just hope she doesn't bring The Worst Costume in History (TM) back with her:

No way. His X-Factor look WITH CAP was BEST SCOTT.

Well, outside this of course:

God, Quitely needs to design everything ever.

Lmao, not those marshmellow jackets. Only good Quitely design was the Emma Frost one with the exposed skin in the shape of an X and over-the-knee platform boots. It was so hot.

lofl

"What do you mean where's my knapsack? What about what I am wearing makes you think I should be wearing a knapsack?? DON'T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME, DR. REYES. DON'T YOU DARE. HHHIIIIIIYYYYYAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHOPTICBLASTHHHHHHHHHH"

Scarlet Spider is so great so far, three issues in. Does the quality keep up?

Stegman art is so good, that guy draws the fuck out of webbing.

Yeah man. I'm pretty eh on most of his run (didn't dislike it at all, it's just mostly forgettable to me) but his last handful of issues are some of my favorite comics ever. Powerful stuff.

Blader! I never see you in these threads much anymore, but I always forget to thank you for mentioning Hitman back in the day. I take every opportunity to recommend it now. It's seriously up there with Preacher.

Pretty sure this is Bendis' response to that Bryan Hitch CBR interview from last week:

Looks like the House N-word getting mad at the Field N-word.

Marvel is still mad about the Image seven burning their asses back in the 90's and it's easier to keep sub literate wanna-be novelists on a tight leash rather than artists who make those scripts come alive.

Art takes a a hit post-Steggers, nothing offensive just a bit more blander under Koi Pham, but writing keeps it up and keeps getting better, and the latest issue had awesome art and was the best to date.

I don't get it, Marvel has done a few cancer stories. Why do it again just as part of a campaign initiative. I really can't see them giving cancer to Rogue or Invisible Woman since they are both part of popular ongoing series right now that have most likely been planned well in advance. So SheRulk or Captain Marvel. I wonder if it's going to even be a longterm thing.

Why not just diagnose Peter Parker with cancer? Oh, wait.

Really though, if it's Captain Marvel... fuck it, if it's Rogue... well she gets involved in Gambit in, what issue 11? Hopefully it doesn't affect the story too much (doubt she'd have too big of a part anyways). If it's Sue Storm... her husband is Reed fucking Richards, people.

And DC needs to stop doing the violence-scaling-back thing. It's not your fault, DC.

Thought I'd share this.
I was really happy when the X-men pinball Stern put out was based on the comics and not the movies. The machine is ok, but all of the art on it is great. I happened to win a trans-light of the back glass a few months ago and didn't have anything to do with it. My dad (who is a really handy guy) made this for my birthday.

Sweet!

They need to scale back their violence because it's distasteful and uninteresting to read, not because these tragedies were their fault.

I mean, if their violence is pretty much useless, boring and adds nothing, then yeah they should scale it back.

Not because the tragedy happened, no.

Oh cool man! I'm glad you liked it, and even more glad that I helped get you into it. It's one of my all-time favorites.
