Well, when hurricane Irene hit in the summer of 2012 our power went out for about 4 days. My mom had to get the cooler out (which we keep in the kitchen) and proceeded to put a bunch of pots and and such that were being stored in it onto the stove in the meantime. She also left my bottle of canola oil on the stove. Neither of us remembered that we had been cooking at the time that the power went out and the stove was still in the on position.

On the 4th day the power suddenly came on at around 8 in the morning. My mom and I had just woken up and hadn't bothered to get dressed (It was just the two of us in the house). Suddenly we smelled smoke and realized we had a grease fire. Since the fire was emanating from inside a pot and I didn't have a good way to smother it, I grabbed it by the handle and set it right outside my front door, but as I did this my dog ran out the door and was running around like crazy in the front yard. I had to run out after her and I was buck naked, hiding behind my car and yelling, "Come here, Cora!" praying that my redneck neighbors wouldn't see me.

Fun times.

Somewhere a porn writer is like "Guys! I have an idea..."

Some really good stuff got posted in the cosplay thread today:

LOOOOOVE THAT LUPIN

I need that PaRappa beanie in my life. NEED IT. I will give all the money, where can I get one?!!?!?!?!

I enjoy coming up with elaborate subplots and back stories for video game characters/ movie characters (Ada has an imaginary friend in RE6, Dom and Marcus are secretly lovers in gears of war, the scene in princess mononoke where the pigs paint themselves in mud involves a special pig no one wants to be painted by, because he does smiley faces (also he doesn't understand the death charge thing, it's quite sad.)).

OMG! I'm not the only one!
I do this for every game I play.

Pokemon was about a post nuclear apocalypse and that's where all the pokemon came from but everyone in Unova was mental handicapped from all the radiation and only the protagonist has an IQ above 70. That explains why people are like "Dresses are fun!" and why gym leaders think that 3 pokemon vs. 6 is a good idea and why the Professor has only three pokemon and makes a chicken sign with her hand.

Metroid was about Samus secretly being a corporate spy who is tasked with stealing the competition's technology and eliminating their leadership.

Skyrim all the dragons ate the lasagna and the protagonist was an italian chef who was determined to return things to normal.

Megaman was a once cop that was transplanted into a robot body and given hallucinations about an evil doctor Wiley. The robots he defeated were actually drug lords and Megaman was being controlled by Dr. Light, who sold Meth and wanted to get rid of his competition.

i think i'm in the running for the annual "whitest guy on GAF" award, because fuckatan

I was the anti-bully, using my chub strength to take care of the actual bullies. Or does that make me the actual bully? I don't know but I haven't been in a fight since and people stopped making fun of me after I transferred to public school.

*high five* man we'dve read comics and NES manuals at the lunch table my dude

You read NES manuals too? Shit, I used to have a fanny pack full of them when I was younger that I would just collect.

I always read the NES manuals. I loved it. I remember going to the city with my dad, buying Super Mario 2. Afterwards we went to a cafe to drink a coffee for him and a cola for me.
I opened up the box there and started reading the manual....loving all those little drawings of Mario.

I still remember the little drawings of Link in the Zelda 1 manual. Pudgy little guy...

Fun Facts about me:
- My great x6 grandfather was apprenticed as a baker in Scotland he came up with a shortbread recipe that has been handed down from generation to generation. The recipe has been modified a bit to accommodate the finer flour we have now but in essence it has remained the same. A tradition began that at christmas time the children of the family would get shortbread for their gift. They were originally more like cakes but my grandpa started making them into cookie size. My grandpa took the tradition to the extreme by making thousands of cookies (eventually hundreds of thousands of cookies) not just for family, but also for friends. The tradition was very important to him so before he died he taught me how to make them. I am one of the handful of my family members that are trying to keep this 300+ year old tradition alive (not to the extent of my grandpa, but still I love being carrying on the tradition).

- When I was born my family lived on a dairy farm. We had 164 cows, and a bull named "Gorgeous George"

- I studied to be a vet tech

- I'm currently working on my art, I do painting, photography, crafts, etc.

- I once taught piano theory to my mom's beginning piano students. But I can't play the piano. The parents never knew

- I once worked as an elderly aide in a home for alzheimers/dementia residents.

Hmm... fun facts. I'm terrible at these, but let's see:

* I was once a guest on a daytime TV show in Japan, where I ate a scone and talk about it (and myself)
* I once almost drowned in the ocean, and now I get panicked whenever I'm in deep water because I'm sure it wants to finish the job *heh*
* I am also deathly afraid of ferris wheels
* I made the first English-language Persona fansite in existence
* As a very young child, I made my mother take me to see Star Wars at the movie theater 28 times

I will make a 'Fact about me!' confession:

I think I am somewhat accidentally responsible for the popularity of the song Bring Me To Life. I (and someone else I won't mention at the moment) made a kinda shitty music video for it before it was released (like, 4 months before it was released), and it was in the top ten downloads on Kazaa.

For a year.

So Ronito and I are sitting here playing Dragons Dogma( well, he's playing I'm watching). It's supposed to be this serious game but we can't stop laughing because while creating the character's facial features there were some that resembled Derek Zoolander and his magnum look. We decided to make our character look as closely like Zoolander as possible and play the game as if it were him meaning, he's dumb and no left turns. So far so good, except whenever there's a cut scene we start laughing, and ronito says, "I can't help it if I'm really, really good looking." in a Zoolander voice and we miss what's happened because we're too busy laughing.

Bad character creation is always a joy.

It's terrible, but here it is : http://gomorning.com/velvetroom

Maybe I should submit it to Lissar's bad 90's website fun.

NICE. That's not that bad considering the era.

I had a website for a Japanese band I doubt anyone here has heard of (they were never popular and disbanded some years ago.) I translated all of their lyrics and a bunch of their interviews. It's now completely wiped from the internet though. No one even remembers it existed.

Oh yeah, shameful fun fact:

I translated all of the FFXIII novel.

D:

Why did I have to translate something for a game no one liked?

That Evanesence song?
That's a guilty pleassure of mine actually

Oh man, I want me some cake, oh and Jalapenos. Odd combo I know but I dunno why I am craving both today for some reason.

I should really stop playing Soulcalibur since I literally pull my hair out in frustration whenever I play it.

I don't know why I bother, it's the only game that makes me get this pissed.
