Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

How can people enjoy Mario an Zelda...Yeah it was fun on NES and SNES but come on. Same game/plot every time! That is just insane!

- I do and will always prefer to purchase physical copies of the games I play.

- I don't like PC gaming because I HATE the idea of purchasing additional hardware to make a game run smoother, and I find that playing console ports at higher resolutions/better framerates very, very rarely enhances the experience of playing said game. I will always prefer to just put a game into a dedicated console and press play.

- Demon's Souls is the Game of the Generation.

- The Half-Life series isn't remotely interesting enough to justify the enormous amount of praise it receives.

- I prefer 30fps over 60fps in almost all circumstances.

- The last memorable, emotional, uniquely inspired Zelda title was Majora's Mask, and the series has gotten progressively worse ever since.

- Final Fantasy died with FFIX and is beyond saving.

- The Mass Effect series is a very technically ugly collection of video games, and the human female characters (Miranda & Ashley- ME3) look like porn star/ blow-up doll hybrids. Also, Commander Shepard is an awful character and the ridiculous way in which the ME universe worships him (and how the plot is designed to make him out to be worthy of being worship) is extremely unconvincing and badly designed.

- Nintendo's handheld offerings have outclassed their console efforts for two generations in a row now. If the Wii U doesn't catch fire by the end of 2013, I predict Nintendo will eventually transition to handhelds permanently, most likely tablets of some sort.

- Persona 4 is an excellent game, but one more expansion/port/entry in that specific universe will destroy the any remaining shreds of charm left in the original. Much like what happened with FF7.

I think there's a lot of western bias against Japanese gaming. We all knows there's an agenda against Nintendo because they do their own thing. Nintendo screws up from time to time we all know that.

Western journalists judge Japanese games way more harshly and overlook western games with similar flaws. The fact that a bug ridden game like Skyrim can win so many awards whereas if that game was released by Capcom with all the bugs, it would get hammered.

Also this PS3, Xbox360 gen has sucked majorly. Not a large variety of games. This is the worst gen of gaming really.

Skyward Sword and Uncharted 2 were some of the best games released in the past couple of years. Uncharted 2 is pretty much the almost perfect action game that actually felt like a summer blockbuster movie.

I love Re6. I'm not going to hate on it because we all hate Capcom and it's dlc practices.

I'm so sick of all the violence in gaming. Shooters, shooters, shooters. Im actually hoping that there video game crash. Seriously, the industry needs it. Maybe it will bring some goddamn innovation back.

Sony is a company that really tries with their exclusives and to please their gamers, and it's pretty crappy that they don't get praised for that.

Online gaming while great, has also ruined gaming thanks to DLC.

I don't mind Call of Duty, I enjoy the games. But it doesn't deserve to get the sales it gets.

Dishonored is probably the most overrated game at GAF. It's a decent game, it simply doesn't deserve the accolades for offering nothing new at all.

The Smash Brothers franchise is not a real fighting game franchise no matter how much the kids that grew up on it cry that it is.

Oblivion was horrible.

- Western RPGs are as cliche ridden as JRPGs.

- The hardware race does not matter anymore, period, and the whole "Iwata destroyed Nintendo by abbandoning it" narrative is one of the most retarded, short sighted industry analysis ever.

- Console generational jumps will be centered around two critical factors: development ecosystem (steam, AppStore, etc) and imput control or "gimmicks" (wiimote, kinect, Oculus rift, etc). The old "better hardware + exclusives" won't cut it anymore.

- Some of the most interesting games of this generation have been made for mobile cellphones

- Civ V is a shitty game unworthy of bearing the Civilization name and has inflicted a tremendous damage to its franchise. And it is not a question of balance, but rather core game design. Gods and Kings (Its expansion) however, have restored it quite a bit of it

- Nintendo has lost this console generation, but they don't know it yet

- All Starcraft II's writters should be fired inmediately and locked in a jail with David Lindelhof

- The indie scene is incredibly anglo-slanted due to the overwhelming dominance of the English speaking gaming press

- To complain about Kid Icarus control scheme only to play dual analog controlled FPSes is the pinnacle of hypocrisy

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Apparently it is possible to hate the games you love and wish for a video game crash to destroy the industry. Who knew.

Duke Nukem Forever is HIGHLY underrated. Fantastic game, tons
of fun from start to finish.

Wanna beat the stupid boss under the dam for me? (Octaking?) I ragequit after my 15th death and it kinda soured the rest of the game for me. I was really enjoying myself up to that point.

-The Wii is Nintendo's best console since the SNES. There were so many great games that I never felt bored with it. It really sucks that Nintendo killed the machine so soon. What sucks more is that the Wii U moved away from the pure simplicity that made the Wii great. I find myself turning on my Wii more than my Wii U even now.
-I think Animal Crossing is Nintendo's second best franchise (first being Mario). I also think it could have potential to be something as big as WoW if Nintendo put in the effort to make it an online experience.
-Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are boring as shit. They have really good aesthetics and dungeons but the horrendous pacing makes it a chore to play. Constant non-optional filler for the sake of having more content, with excessive tutorials spattered throughout. The overworlds in both games are pretty pointless too. Not enough to explore and so much empty space which you have to wade through.
-Call of Duty games are terrible.
-The 3DS is hideous and is terribly built. I just started playing on my friend's DSi XL and when I went back to my 3DS I was so disappointed. I really wish we get a 3DS redesign soon. The XL is okay I suppose but it has no good cases/accessories so I never carry it with me.
-Persona 4 is the best JRPG since Chrono Trigger.

Animal Crossing is the best game on the Gamecube
Truth.

The Halo sequels are very colorful and in some ways moreso than the first game. Halo 4 is beautiful but at times can look like cel-shading. Also, we have the green ships and they have the purple ships and then there's the white and gray stuff with lights and Tron architecture by the really old guys.

It looks like Star Wars prequels sometimes.

Funny and ironic too how the live action trailers and movies are made to look dark and gritty.

Yeah, I don't mind colour in my games, but Halo was really just far too much for me, considering what kind of game it is.

Wanna beat the stupid boss under the dam for me? (Octaking?) I ragequit after my 15th death and it kinda soured the rest of the game for me. I was really enjoying myself up to that point.

Are you referring to the Energy Leech boss? Because that boss fucking sucked. I did eventually beat it though, but it was just a shitty, tedious boss.

I hate Skyward Sword
Some "good" indie games are overrated (like FEZ or Minecraft)
Story is more important cause i have nearly seen everything in games gameplay wise.
PS3 ports are bad because the devs are lazy as fuck.
Bethesda makes really really bad games.
CoD BO1+2 are the only CoDs with an actual story.
Real Valve games beside HL are overrated (last good game was L4D but that wasnt Valve)
Nintendo should do something different with their games (like a new IP or Zelda SciFi)
No AAA titles means more good games.
Xbox360 is shit.

The idea of a Valve manufactured "Steam Box" running Linux is fucking dumb. They can't even run a store competently sometimes (try getting support, especially in Europe. Hooooo boy) and they want to move into hardware?! Why fragment their own market?

I say this as someone who loves Valve!

Nah, believe it or not I suck so bad I got stuck on the boss before that, the Octaking. One day I'll give it another shot, I can't possibly be demoralised for more than a couple of years surely lol.

Oh, the Octaking. He's mildly annoying, but just use the Devastator (I think you get one when you enter the platform Duke is situated on) and unleash Hell upon him while strafing between the 'safe spots' on each side of the platform.

• Most big AAA games give me a "meh, I have played this before" feeling and I have kinda lost interest.

• Online gaming is getting kinda boring and samey. For years almost everything I played was online but now I mainly play offline stuff.

• smartphone / tablet gaming is pretty good, constantly improving and for the most part, touch controls are fine (they can be implemented badly of course like any control option).

• Vita has lots of games.

• Monster hunter is a pile of arse.

Think thats all I got for now.

edit

• Oh yeah, I find that almost all nintendos franchises don't interest me at all. Mario Kart is the only one I could ever get into.

Oh boy, where to beggining...

- Skyward Sword is awful and its gameplay is everything that is wrong with videogames today. Despite what Nintendo fans claim, the Zelda series is pretty much the epitome of casualisation now and there isn't any "hardcore" experience left.

- A lot of Nintendo franchises such as Animal Crossing, Pokemon and the most recent Zelda games get away with a lot of shit just because they are made by Nintendo.

- Persona 4 is an overrated game, hardly one of the "best games ever". It's mostly famous between casual jrpg players that didn't play any other megaten or many jrpg and its only popular because of waifus.

- With the exception of BG2, Bioware has always been awful. ME2 and DAO are hardly good games or wrpg and are only popular because most of their players didn't get to play older rpg like BG2 and Planescape.

- ME2 isn't that much better than 3. In fact, it's probably worse.

- Ever since Oblivion, Bethesda has been terrible. (Does this even count as controversial?)

- I wouldn't mind go back to 1 console portable like with GBA

- FFIV was good only back then, today is pretty much awful. Stop re-releasing it, SE.

- Ouya is fucking stupid.

There will be very few graphical enhancements that will make people say "Holy shit!" The jump from the NES to the SNES to the N64 to the PS2 to the PS3 did it, but it's over now.

Animal Crossing is the best game on the Gamecube

I dont know if "the best", but is one hell of a game, that started an incredible franchise (in the west, at least)

Everyone 27+ feels that way.

I bet (but i cant proove) that any comedy website like cracked could write a feature called "15 old school games that are a lot more complex than anything thats released nowdays"

Most gamers over 25 play out of habit, not because of actual enjoyment or excitement.

Kids who are growing up with today's generation of gaming missed out on the golden decade in the 90's.

Excitetrucks/bots are the best arcade racing titles in recent years. Nothing comes even close.

I straight up bought Excitebots after seeing your post; I completely overlooked these games.

I hope Excitebots supports the classic controller.
Should I pick up Excitetrucks also if I'm already getting Bots?

The kamiya worship is worse than any worship I've ever seen as far as gaming goes. Guy acts like a tool constantly on twitter and all most people can do is get starry eyed and wish they'd be given just a brief chance to kiss his asshole.

I strongly dislike Valkyria Chronicles and don't understand the appeal at all. The combat is tedious and needlessly frustrating - pretty sure I switched off after a bout of missed lancer attacks at point blank range. The story is completely uninteresting and I after a few hours of playing it, I even began to dislike the art style that had basically sold me on it.

Just, ugh. Easily the JRPG I consider most overrated this gen.

Rockstar are spectacularly overrated, and have never made anything but painfully average games.

I don't like GTA...almost at all. The best part of GTAIV was seeing how far you could launch your car. Hated the actual concept and thought it was an easy way of appealing to juveniles.
