3DS Streetpass Experiences

I got two when I went to pre-order Fire Emblem Awakening at Gamestop yesterday. Both had plenty of Pink Pieces, one of them I've ran into at least three times before (now I know how).
I should go to Gamestop more often if it means more pink pieces.

I've had my 3DS about a month. I live and work in Northern Virginia in the USA (about 30 minutes NW of Washington DC) which is very densely populated and I carry it with me in my work bag.

I've received 2 StreetPasses. Once on the road at highway speed. And once in a Target parking lot.

You can probably get a ton more at Katsucon next month; not sure I'm going to go to that one though. Anime USA and Otakon are good too, but don't miss the next MAGFest.

If nerd gatherings aren't your thing you might try the Sakura Matsuri when it rolls around this year too.

All great. The latter would fit more into my world (35, father of 2, etc.).

Thanks for the ideas though. Appreciate it.

Has anyone ever opened up their 3DS and said out loud, "Wow, what a stupid name, Kittyastrophy!" and then realized that the two miis you steetpassed have the same haircuts as the couple standing right next to you in line laughing nervously to each other?

Because that totally happened to me at Disneyland yesterday.

Its a shame Disneyland isn't the same as it used to be. I went last Christmas and was able to get close to a hundred tags. Now I can only get about 15.

Absolutely zero during the two months I've owned my 3DS, and I'm taking it out with me whenever I'm going to town. I don't even know how it feels like to StreetPass with someone ; _;
Are there any game stores in your area with demo units? Before I went through several airports for Thanksgiving, all but one of my Streetpasses were from demo units at various game stores. Good for getting a higher-level character too, since it's pretty unlikely that the Mii will change.

Unfortunately you might have to go over and mess with the unit because sometimes the wireless switch or streetpass functionality has been turned off, so if you're short on time it's not always a sure thing.

Elitist much?

If it helps, I didn't read it as elitist. Just a commentary that 3DSs don't seem to be in people's pockets as much this year as previous years. And Disneyland is hardly the realm of elitists. :)

I expect with the likes of AC and the rest of the 2013 lineup, that may change though. Give people a reason to want their 3DSs around more often again.

If anyone plans on going to the Zelda symphony in Atlanta, we are going to have a 3DS/group meet up and eat dinner before going if you are interested in conversation and streetpasses lol here is the event page

I look forward to getting a lot more passes and puzzle pieces :)

Hey, Dallas GAF, we're running another MeetUp this coming Saturday.

We're working on finishing the pink pieces to the new Kirby panel before Nintendo bombards use with several new ones! If you have any, come on out. My fiancée and I have the bottom-left four, so you'll be able to cover some ground, at least.

We will probably run more Mario Kart games and I wouldn't mind some Theatrhythm or Code of Princess matches.

I can't promise any freebies, but last time we ended up with a LOT of good stuff from Nintendo and GameStop to give away (Paper Mari oposters, Oswald ears from Epic Mickey, Pokémon guides). The store we go to is really good to us, so keep that in mind.

Dang! Our Atlanta/Georgia 3DS Meetup has yet to have a meet up :( I haven't gotten many pieces on this one yet either, but I do have a lot complete thanks to conventions. Hopefully at Lexington Comic Con and Momocon I can get a ton of street pass stuff

Having some trouble finding consistent information on where certain hats drop - I have every last room in Find Mii 2 (regular and secret) cleared, but I'm still missing some 8 or so hats. Does anyone have a list of all the hats in the order they can be selected in-game and where you have to go to get them? Different sources seem to have wildly differing information =/

A few months back I was actually writing an FAQ for Streetpass and one of the sections was a list of all the hats and their locations. Unfortunately I ran into the same problem as you and couldn't complete it.

I would like to do a run of Secret Quest to document all the hat locations but I rarely get any tags and I do NOT want to attempt it with Wandering Heroes.

I've been using the above guide for a while, and can confirm that as far as I can tell, the info is spot on. Bookmark it.

Ugh, I have to visit that bottom-right room two more times then... thanks! I'll probably go ahead and organize that list to match my in-game list so far. I have two 3DSes now so I could in theory run through this sending a sole Mii in 1-2 times a day, but more likely completing this will have to wait until PAX East...
I need to do three more runs of secret quest. I've more or less collected every hat (and every puzzle piece) using my girlfriend's mii on my launch unit, which I no longer use. Level 7 miis are boss.

Streetpass is getting a bit creepy. Two nights ago, I took my 3DS out of it's cradle in my living room to play some Theatrhythm in bed. As I walked over to my bedroom, I got a streetpass. I did the same thing last night and streetpassed the same person again, so it seems like one of my neighbors or someone else who lives really close recently got a 3DS. No idea who it is though, so I sent her a personal message.

I get that all the time, I live on a corner lot and my 3DS cradle is close to the front of my house. I often wake up to new tags from passer-bys.

I ran into 3 during a rest stop in North Carolina.

Walking around campus at FGCU ran into no-one.

From my experience, every single resource for hats on the internet is slightly wrong in one way or another, or when they mean "2nd" or "3rd" time through, it's all down to the path you choose.

I made a personal Excel checklist for myself and linked it in this thread way back using the most consistent info, but even as I played it myself I found more errors.

Well now that the last 3DS demo model has its streetpass switched off, I have no clue how to get streetpass hits unless I go to a big city. Last time I had more than 1 hit at the same time was when I walked over St. Peter's Square in Rome, Italy.

In just over a year the only 2 Streetpass hits I've had are my niece and the demo until at the local Game. I think my 3DS might be anti-social despite it coming to work with me most days.

My last couple StreetPasses (which I only get once every 6 months or so) have only had SM3DL data, and no StreetPass Plaza data :(

wait wait, about this - once ive cleared all the rooms, do i still have to finish each time through, or can i just get to the room i want & quit out/restart somehow?
Depends if you want the achievements. It seems to shame to get so far and not finish the tower...

Just a commentary that 3DSs don't seem to be in people's pockets as much this year as previous years.

I guess that's because, Mii Plaza aside, it's a feature still not fully exploited. Even a game that it's so filled with content and makes use of all 3DS capabilities like Kid Icarus Uprising only uses StreetPass to exchange useless weapons given how expensive they are. Funny thing it's that I seem to encounter a lot of people lately which wouldn't have the Mii Plaza activated, which pisses me off a lot.

I like to think that after Xmas more 3DS will be in the streets, but I don't feel any difference :(

Wow, our group had a pretty good MeetUp today. GameStop gave everyone Kid Icarus card packs (I got a Cellular Komayto YAYAYAY) and we collectively managed to finish and spread out all of the pink pieces to the new Kirby panel (of course, now Brain Age and Fire Emblem are going to start the process all over). I hope more Dallas area GAF can come out and see us, we need to keep growing.

Also, eight player Mario Kart 7 matches!

I was also at MAGfest a couple weeks ago, got hundreds of them there.

Just went out and got a total of 9. Got 4 at a NJ GameStop (one of them was the gamestop demo unit) and then I walked by a Play N Trade and got 5 more.

Unless there's some bizarre circumstance where the games are a failure due to shift from DS to 3DS, Pokemon XY will be when streetpass really takes off.

I´ve had my 3DS XL for 20 days now and only have gotten 10 street passes so far. Not too many people carry around their system it seems.

I now have two 3DS system to tag each other with with my purchase of an XL. You guys have any tricks with what I can do with two systems in hand? I was planning on getting Level 7 Miis of every color for Find Mii 2, but with you only being able to buy 3 old recruits at a time makes it seems rather pointless.

And can I abuse PuzzleSwap by constantly formatting my old 3DS until I get a pink piece? Or do you only get blue pieces at the start?

aw man, ive been through secret quest like 5x now...what achievements would i then miss? takes like a few hundred coins to get all the way through sometimes, i never plan for the "OH SHIT ITS HOT IN HERE GUYS, LETS GO HOME" rooms
