Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

I think a sensible post-credits scene would be Martian Manhunter. Introduce an authoritive, alien character that will never get his own movie. People would be confused but then no-one knew who Thanos was either.

YESSSSSSSSSS

Post Credits Scene:

Superman meets with his military liaison, a marine. A green glow comes from the sky, and crashes down to Earth. A dying Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) utters the words, "Darkseid is coming" and then breathes his last breath. The ring leaves his fingers, "Scanning for suitable replacement", before flying onto the finger of the marine standing next to Superman. A marine named...John Stewart. "What does this mean?", new recruit John says to Superman.

Kal-El puts a hand on John's shoulder, "I don't know. But we'll find out together..."

Then they both fistbump and fly off into space.

Also on a more serious note, I wish DC went with another company for their action figures. They are so cheaply made, and lightyears behind the Marvel ones, in terms of design, articulation, and variety...

This film came out in 2004 and it is one of the greatest comic book film's of all time. Its penultimate action scene has Spider-man fight Dr Ock on top of a clock tower, fall onto a moving metro, rescuing half a dozen tossed people by making web hammocks and stopping the runaway train in a heart-pounding frenzy of jizz-shooting adrenaline.

Returns, which came out 2 years later and has features arguably the strongest, most dynamically powered character in comic book history had two notable scenes and the "big finale" has Superman pick up a big rock and gently let go of it in space. It's an unforgiveable zzz inducing movie.

I love Spiderman 2. Still one of my favourite comic book flicks.

You had me at Ryan Reynolds dying.

they probably wouldn't put a big Z on him.

I'd hope not, we know how that works out for villains on screen...

I still can't believe Reeve is Superman in a movie with Nuclear Man smh I try to wipe it from my memory, but I can't :(

Whoops! Mattel had the images removed from the original source but I managed to save and host some of them:

Looks like some of the toys are starting to hit eBay:
Man-of-Steel---Mega-Punch-Superman-1_1359047583.jpg

The original French site that posted photos from Toy Fair mentioned everything would be available in store February so hopefully we'll be getting some substantial in the next few weeks. Empire magazine will have their superhero cover story next week.....

An awesome (and impossible) post credit scene would be a jump forward, where we see Metropolis in ruins. Have Lois or somebody on a radio, calling for help, "This is Lois Lane. If you're out there, send help. The city is being overrun. There are people injured among us and I don't know how long we'll hold out. Superman...Superman is down. No one knows where he is, or what they've don...what? Someone's coming. It's...it's the guy from Gotham. And some others. I...think they're here to help..."

Or something like that. I'm gonna stop cause now i'm writing fanfiction. Lol

lol. too soon man.

... but you should compare that train rescue to the plane rescue in Returns. They're far more comparable in terms of sheer action, heroics, danger, and volume of people, especially when you consider both Spiderman 2 and Superman Returns end with the hero holding something heavy up.

You don't wanna argue the toss than don't dismiss comments you're not willing to back up with opinions.

And thats a terrible comparison

I'm still laughing at the speed cruiser and motorcycle toys for Supes. I know they make them for kids, but I would have totally been put off by them since I knew a lot about the character at a young age.

I'm telling you, season 3 man. Everything with Lex, his father, the asylum... gold.

That scene was amazing. If you were watching week by week, Clark had lost his powers (this was before it became a once-a-season thing, mind you) for three-four episodes. An entire episode was dedicated to him stopping a home invasion sans-powers, he got into a fist-fight with Lex, and lots of other genuine "fragile" moments. Capping it all off with Clark getting his powers back to stop a nuclear missile felt like a month-long reward.

Hm, I can't really remember the specifics of season 3. I only remember certain major plot points. Is that the season that started with Kal El?

It's nice to see some appreciation for Spiderman 2. That movie was amazing. The clocktower scene was I think my favorite in the movie. Loved how they were fighting with the clock hands. Amazing stuff back then.

It's an incredibly apt comparison.

Both scenes feature the titular super heroes saving a bunch of people destined to crash in a transportation vehicle. Neither hero can easily grab and stop the vehicle from the accident about to happen and each scene is considered to be the action moment of their respectable film. If you're going to claim Superman Returns was a snore fest and had no entertaining action I merely point you to that plane scene, but if you're going to say "that's a terrible comparison" then I don't know what to tell you.

This is why it's not worth debating Superman Returns online with some people. The arguments don't even hold water sometimes. I clearly backed up my comments with my opinion on the movie & its action content too, so you can chill out with the hostility or go find something better to do than argue super hero movies on the internet.

Kal El was the start of season 4. Season 3 had Lex being drugged by his father to appear insane & put into an asylum after he discovered the big secret of the show.

I wish that Dean Cain S shield never existed.

I really hope that this film features some
creatures or monsters or robots or..., SOMETHING else rather than 'just' Zod and his Krypotonite soldiers
or whatever.

I seem to remember some 'on shoot' spy shots that seem to show an actor standing in for a larger 'character' so perhaps that could be a sign that there is.

Hopefully it does and studio (and toy manufacturers) have been careful to hide it thus far.

I think there's going to be
some battle armor for Zod.

The funny thing is, that's one of the better scenes from the show that I've seen. I really don't like hating on anything, but I'm amazed at how much passive approval or love that show gets.

I can't stand anything about the show lol and I think people were just desperate for anything Superman at the time. I can't explain it really. I think anyone who likes or loves the show is a crack baby (no offense to crack babies)

lol just Zod? Zod is a Kryptonian himself and will have the same powers as Superman. Even if his powers aren't as developed as Supes, his army of Kryptonians and his military training should give us some action packed scenes.

I really don't want to see random creatures and robots just for the sake of more action... it would be redundant IMO. Spend that time delving into origin mythos, maybe some more stuff about Krypton and Jor-El or something. If Lex is the feature villain in the next film, I would like to see them include Metallo.

What the hell mang

Superman is the champion of the universe and he never gets a Green Lantern ring. What's up with that hmm? HMMM?

Matrix said:
lol Captain America

Hunh. According to that chart, the Merchandising S really makes its first appearance in the late 50s. That's the earliest I see it popping up. There's a couple close shots at it, but I think 1959 is basically it.

What are you talking about? It's an great scene.

No taking itself seriously was the best part of Dean Superman.

Crack baby... no offense. You can keep your camp Superman, I'll do without it.

Show was straight shit with the worst Superman to ever grace tv/movies.

Audience like you is just lacking sense of humor. No need to take everything Superman related deadly serious.

After TDKR souring my taste of what could've been a near-perfect trilogy of movies I'm really hoping that man of steel does well.

Green lantern bomba-ing hard, man of steel needs to do well for DC to explore other heroes. Otherwise, expect everything to be batman related.

I can't believe anyone would say this while ignoring Smallville.

Where's Superman in Smallville? Nowhere. Welling couldn't even put the costume on once. He let the show become Green Arrow and the Superfriends featuring the Blur.

I liked the Kents, Chloe and Lois. The comics and DCAU did everything else better. Lois & Clark did have one thing above the comics, and that was the relationship between those two. The show actually forced the comics to develop their characters.

Superman would get a blue lantern ring.

well he actually got a black lantern ring.

oh gee whiz, the movie was great! that retroactively ruins the others?

but the show was never about Superman, it was about Clark's journey to becoming Superman.

I was really excited for the first few years, but it went on further than it should. Comics have covered more territory than the show in less time. Examples include Superman Birthright and Geoff Johns's Secret Origin. There was even a Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes cartoon. How is the story of The Blur any better than just making him Superman?

If they wanted to make a Superboy show, they should've just did that. To be fair to WB, I don't know how badly the Siegel/Shuster lawsuits were affecting the series. It sure effected Kon-El's comic presence years before Infinite Crisis.

I'm not going to get in an argument about Smallville vs Lois and Clark. Neither show was really about "Superman" (the last seasons of Smallville obviously changed from what the show was intended to be from the start and it had different people producing it which changed it's whole direction. That was most likely to keep it on the air since the CW had nothing else). The problem is Lois and Clark tossed Dean Cain in the suit from the very start and he was awful at portraying him and looked like a damn clown in that awful suit. The cheaper Superboy series had a better Superman suit which is pathetic.

You can take your camped cheese Cain Superman and enjoy him all you want.

"I wish Dean cain never existed."

I wish he never showed up on Smallville. The guy still thinks they should make a tv movie out of his show so they can finish it off... after all these years smh It was cancelled cause the ratings were awful. I'd love to see him in the suit now lol

I don't need a dark and dreary Superman (I love TAS, the Donner film, Returns, and Smallville for example), but Lois & Clark is just tacky to me.

Funny story: Gerard Christopher almost got the job for Lois & Clark - he ended up advancing through the audition process to the point where he got to read for the producers. They loved him - up until they flipped over his headshot and looked through his resume.

lol I recall reading that, would have been better than Cain at least at portraying Supes. I'm not sure why they couldn't use him :\ Only Superman geeks would have known who he was.

Fair enough, I should probably follow that advice. :P

I just really wish they could get something right and not have to wait years between good comics and movies. What are Superman fans gonna get after Morrison leaves Action Comics and MoS is done in theaters?

I liked what I read of Andy Diggle's intention for Action after Morrison leaves. Not familiar with his work though.

New 52 "Superman" is some average shit though.

Aw man so much hate here for Lois & Clark lol. HUB has been re-airing it so I've been DVRing the series as I never actually finished it even though it was a huge favorite of mine when I was young and I remember catching it when it first aired on every Saturday night on BBC1 during Noel's House Party.

There was some mid-first season break for some reason when it was airing the UK but when it returned I remember BBC kept airing commercials just showing the Superman tombstone from the finale and thinking "WTF happened?!" given the show was airing right around the time Superman Vs Doomsday happened in the comics.

Also Teri Hatcher>All other Lois Lanes.

MAKE IT SO

Erica Durance and Dana Delany, my friend.

Well Delany only voiced Lois but I could give you that. Durance on the other hand I wasn't a big fan of and one of the things that annoyed me as Smallville progressed and stopped watching around season 6....though I did check out the finale just to see if he put on the suit or not.

I found this via Empire magazine's site where they attended the London Toy Fair to check out the movie and superhero lego sets and revealed a little more about the MOS ones given an idea of Zod's suit(s) in the movie and the scene involving "Black Zero"...
http://www.empireonline.com/empireblogs/empire-states/post/p1335
. Man Of Steel will feature Black Zero
But which Black Zero? Well, judging by the ‘Black Zero Escape’ that features only Zod, Lois and Superman figures, it’s more likely to be ‘what’ than a who – perhaps the computer virus or Krypton-based terror force, rather than the psycho-molecule-creating uber-bad of pre-Crisis Superman. Still, if the LEGO is anything to go by – and it usually is – Man Of Steel will be a much more heavily weaponised affair than previous movie Supes, with Zod packing some heavy calibres and his own personal army. So what does the Black Zero kit reveal? Well, Lois Lane in a space pod, Supes in the air, and Zod behind some kind of complex control device. A different LEGO kit has Zod in body armour – perhaps that CG suit we’ve been hearing about – and a face mask, which hopefully won’t lead to Bane-like mumbling. “Knnel..fbffrr…zzod!”

Taken from the new Empire magazine so there should be more photos and info coming today...but I'm heading off to work! :(

EDIT: Or not. Apparently the issue features a 6-page preview but those 2 stills are the only new photos.
