I really hate all the UI stuff in every corner of the screen. Still hyped, but damn. Let me move that shit away on the gamepad if it's not doing anything else.

Photoshop has an animation feature. It's basically layers played in a sequence. PS includes Imageready which I prefer.

Photoshop/Imageready allows the importing of Quicktime files while other movie files have to be converted. Adobe AfterEffects can output GIFs directly, but I don't think it has as much quality control.

Completely aware of that, but you never know how long something is actually going to be around when it comes to file sharing, and not everyone can download the physical copy of the video, so it doesn't hurt :D

Looks pretty fabulous in 1080p, though. I really can't wait to see more of the game.
 
Something I didn't notice in the original, but guns discard bullet shells. Seems to be standard in FPS's now, so a nice touch.

We are talking about a studio that has not developed HD games. Look how long it took most studios to develop their own first HD games. I think a lot of nintendo 1st parties are having longer than expected development tmes due to this.

It took them roughly 3 years to develop Xenoblade. I'm betting they are still close to two years away from releasing this game. (At least Summer/Fall of 2014)

They would have to be, I don't see Monolith Soft as a studio that could fund this under their own power. A game of this scale needs a group with deep pockets and a fair amount of trust/faith in their ability backing it. So far this looks like something that has a fair amount of money being poured into it.
 
Yeah, I suspect Monolith spent a lot of time in the R&D stage after Xenoblade's completion. Developing a completely new engine from scratch for new hardware would've taken some time, especially since it's their first foray into HD.

I guess that's the reason why we haven't seen much of Nintendo's own WiiU games so far, since they're in the middle of a major transition from SD to HD, unlike the case of the Wii where most of what worked on the Gamecube could easily work on the Wii. That'll all change at E3 though :D

Just watched the Wii U version of the trailer. Pop-in is very noticeable, I think we're still a ways off from a finished product here (spring 2014?). The color palette seems to be more vibrant, though still muted compared to Xenoblade. Some of that may be my TV, obviously.

I believe they are. Iwata calling X an 'important topic', announcing this game last and in all three Nintendo Directs I think confirms this.

Yeah I was thinking summer 2014 japan fall 2014 NA/EU. It is washed out quite a bit. Kinda shockingly when you compare it to the colors that were in Xenoblade.

Yeah 2014 seems like a good bet. Trailer was using stand in animations, and the streaming engine could use some work with regards to the pop in. I hope we get a new trailer at E3, really blow the lid of this game.

Makes me worried that they conceded E3 to Microsoft/Sony because they figured they would already be outdone by new console announcements. I really don't fault them at all for that decision, mainly because they need to find some way to boost sales in Japan/Europe in the near term. Both areas sales are dropping like a rock currently.

But then again, what if they showed 720 PS4... no one would care as much especially if it was playable.

Plus it was nice to get a megaton on Tuesday that was actual gameplay and not a CG teaser. CG is great, but if you dont have gameplay to follow it up, you might as well have just send out a press release or a tweet (unless your Square or Blizzard... they can make CGI movies for all I care[sogood.gif])

Hyrule historia has been readily available for preorder on amazon for weeks now unless im misunderstanding something
 
They're saving Retro's game for E3. That's the one big Wii U announcement, I expect. The other announcements will probably be regarding 3DS' holiday lineup. Of course, the new 3D Mario and Smash Bros. will be unveiled as well, whose importance should not be downplayed.

Considering how average Xenoblade looked compared to Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime for example then damm i can't wait to see what that 3D Mario game or whatever Retro is working on looks like (Fingers crossed for a return to Metroid).

Considering that they have ~6 months between when this trailer was probably cut to when the E3 trailer will be,
if it's shown at all
, I am hoping for a Pikmin/W101 style tweak (or greater) of the graphics and even more exciting trailer that shows off more than one area. This was really just the beginning of a tease - less than 50 seconds of actual footage, if I count correctly.

The limited edition only has 4000 copies. Amazon already shot through their allotment. Barnes and Noble had a preorder, but canceled all the orders because they oversold it substantially, and sold the LE for around $25ish. All the places (other than Nintendo world, which you would have to go in person to the store and they are having an event) and Think Geek (and perhaps Barnes and noble assuming they canceled ALL the preorders) are the only remaining places that will have the LE version available.

That being said the LE is only a "leather-ish" cover and pages have gold on the edges, which is not a huge deal in itself, but still a nice addition if you are planning on displaying it in any way.
 
3D Mario, Smash, more X, more Wind Waker HD, more Yoshi's Epic Yarn and possibly Retro's new game?

I'm not gonna get hyped for E3 but holy fuck that's an impressive lineup.
