Not only is it padding but the suits have highly airbrushed shadows and highlights to fake the appearance of muscle definition. The OG Spider-man suit is pretty good example.

Well, Returns clearly acts as a wrap-up to the Donner films, so it only stands to reason they went in a Reeve direction. I still bought Brandon as Superman and thought he brought some new territory to the character. His conversation with Lois about the city alone was pretty important to finally see on-screen.

Welling really had a modern Superman look to him. His acting was so-so and was honestly at its best around the third and fourth seasons, but he had that role-model, good-guy demeanor down pat. Seeing his beginnings on the farm for so long really sold that down-to-earth factor for me.
