Iwata implies he may resign over poor business performance

You are what's wrong with the industry.

You defend the dude but refuse to buy his console. Even I own a WiiU. Get out of this thread man!

I own a Wii U... I meant fully support it software wise moving forward. I already own a Wii U and Wii and Gamecube and every other Nintendo system made.

I agree with your post for the most parts.

Since skyward sword, they have had game drought on the wii and they don't use the time to make lots of games for wiiU? or try to get 2nd parties to make lots of games? TBD TBD drought right for 2-3 months after console launch...

and before everyone says nintendo games take time to perfect; they're doing a lot of rehashes and even then, sometimes they're not great games when they come out.

Exactly

For the past 5 years we've been getting the worst of both worlds. We wait ages for them to make games and when they come, they're rehashes with fuck all content and weren't worth the wait.

Mario Kart...I'm looking at you!

And ghost trick released on iOS who has only a single screen?

oh wait thought we were talking about ds as a whole and not just the dual screen?

my bad but whatever! anyways Brera also wanted the next handheld to exclude touch screen for whatever reason so im sticking to that

haha what

did you even read his post at all man?

I root for Nintendo but I haven't really liked any of their software in years, hardware in decades.

I hated the DS and touchscreen gaming in general, really I think the Micro was their last compelling product. It just played games (and fantastic games at that).

This guy gets it!

Micro 4 life yo!

Would it have been developed for iOS in the first place without the DS' sales projections to support it initially? Unlikely.

That's a totally different question. My point was that you didn't need 2 screens for Ghost Trick. I think only cing games would require a dual screen setup, the concept was rarely used for something more than maps or UI.

Very much agreed. Mario Kart has been a bit of a bore to me since the Wii version.

Damn right.

Stick your smelly over priced under powered dual screen!

Or at least give us a 3rd pillar. A smaller single screen gameboy. Download only. 3.5" screen. I'm willing to compromise...you can even make it touch screen but DO IIITT!!

The last few pages of this thread:

"Things I like will make Nintendo more relevant to everyone and put them back on top. Things I don't like have no value or merit in the marketplace."

I think some of you guys should submit your resumes. Obviously, Iwata is going to commit seppuku in just a few weeks. Gotta strike while the iron is hot!

Nintendo: just make a 4 button Micro with a bigger screen. Call it the Macro. Sell it for $100 at a profit. Get back to what you're good at: making deep 2D games.

So you want Nintendo go backwards and focus on a handheld with no redeeming qualities except for the fact that is cheap and that will play 2D games in a time the industry is moving entirely from it and only the indie community and some developers cntinue supporting it but those developers would rather go iOS/PC since is probably a better idea?

*breathes*......uff....yeah, that would be smart.

I can't think of a valid reason not to release a Gameboy with 16gb of flash memory that downloads old video games and costs $100. It'd be better than 3DS for sure

Well just adding screens where they don't belong isn't working.

They can make their shitty Wii Sports, Music and Play all day long as long as they give us the good stuff. The real stuff.

If that shovelware is taking up so many resources that their real games suffer then Nintendo need to learn how to Project Manage.

Or Sack Miyamoto. It's sad that Iwata is taking the fall for Miyamotos failings. Does the guy even know how to program??

No one wants 3D on handhelds. Look at the 3DS. Look at the Vita.

Give us 2D goodness! It's been forced on us.

3DS sales, while not incredible good, contradicts that.

The market is very small for such a device, and I'm sure the 3DS should be able to emulate most old handhelds...but yeah, Nintendo and their sucky ass eShop.

It's completely ridiculous. I'm vehemently against the idea of going the mobile development route, but even THAT would be better than this shit.

It'd sell enough to validate it's existence, surely. This is the company that released the Gameboy Micro.

yeah no one wanted Mario 3D Land

god did you see the sales?!?!?! 8 million and counting?! pfffft!!!!

As experienced end consumers, we know what we want.

oh sorry you're right

the mass market totally wants GBA 2.0 because of a bunch of angry internet posters!!!!

Last few pages? try page 1. It's funny even the more serious posts do exactly the same thing, we are clueless about the market and what is good for this company, thats for sure.

So...decades = 20 years minimum = 1993. So you stopped liking Nintendo hardware with the SNES? Might I ask what was wrong with the SNES?

Mario 2D Land would sell just as much.

No one cares if it's 2D or 3D as long as it's a good game! Hell it could be a load of old shit and still sell 8 million!

It's true, but at least some of them actually merit discussion. Most of this is just shitposting.

I agree: NSMB sold as much or more than the recent 3D Mario games (despite not being very good).

Maybe, but I think there's no really need for such a device when the 3DS can do that, just needs Nintendo to get onto it and start releasing more good priced VC games.

I think the problem is more and more people JUST DON'T WANT handhelds, rather that 3D handhelds.

Some of the biggest success on iOS are 3D...

The 3DS isn't portable though. It's too big, I'd never consider taking it anywhere. Release something phone sized that has a SNES style button layout and I can play Super Metroid on and sell it for under $100. It'd sell billions.

The 3DS is too big and too expensive to be a handheld virtual machine.

So I didn't put it in my pocket and take it with me for the last week or so? (And the XL at that) Wow, I must be going crazy...

And SNES style buttons? What, like the DS had? And... Wow, look! So does the 3DS!

That would require Nintendo to actually care about the VC platform.

I would buy the hell out of a Nintendo handheld that could play every old Nintendo game ever, but people are already doing that with emulation and Nintendo would never get it right anyways. They even delisted the entire Donkey Kong Country franchise from the VC for no apparent reason.

The only real solution..go third party on iOS.

clearly you dont own the 3DS secret revision that has 6 face buttons like the sega saturn!

But they made Mario 3D Land and it sold 8 million copies.

What the hell are you trying to argue?

I'm saying the game was going to sell that much anyway! 3D had nothing to do with it.

It's a fucking awesome game though...because it's practically 2D in it's design.

I just don't like the 3DS for what it represents.

It shows that Nintendo are out of ideas and out of luck and throwing every gimmick they can at it.

The Vita is what Nintendo should have released if they were gonna go for the whole 3D thing.

If you have a 3DS XL in your pocket in public people are probably making very strange faces when your back is turned.

And I said SNES style as in not a Gameboy Micro.

Don't worry Dave, these guys are being obtuse cos we're shaking the hivemind.

Nintendo has been attacked and must be defended at all costs!
