Along with Takahata he is,no one else comes close(except for maybe satoshi kon R.I.P),both of them are one of the very few directors that know how to make original movies imo, that I can stomach and not only that really enjoy.
But that's just me am not fan of anime movies in general and I learned the hard way that it's not safe experiment with dangerous stuff like that, Studio Ghibli is reliably studio.

It seems that more and more people are going to the movies.
Nah it's all in dollars it's more to do with the rising yen(at the time) and maybe higher ticket prices imo.

It's weird that they are doing character development as well, but it seems like they pretty much end the franchise with this season, so I suppose they're trying to actually wrap things up with some of the light drama that happened way back when.

Well, theres a certain elf girl who does magic.
Something goes really wrong and she gets turned into an animal and to turn back she has to collect all the spell fragments that attached themselves to elf girls.
How? By joining up with a group of crazies and a sentient tank and stripping all the elf girls of course!

Eh, not seeing it to be honest. Gonna have to rewatch it after I calm down.
It's not just inflation. It's a semi-inaccurate list because Boxofficemojo lists everything in US dollars, which they convert from Japanese Yen based on the exchange rate at the time of release. The Yen has been climbing agsinst the USD for years, so some of those numbers aren't really supposed to be that high.
Here's one example of how the exchange rate totally misrepresents the rankings:

Howl's Moving Castle (2004) made 19.6 billion yen, Princess Mononoke (1997) made 19.3 billion yen, and Ponyo (2008) made 15.5 billion yen. Yet, because of the changing exchange rate, Box Office Mojo lists:

Ponyo - $164,565,997 (2009)
Princess Mononoke - $157,000,000 (1997)
This is for the Japan only gross. As you can see, from 1997 to 2009, the Yen has gone from worth-less-than-USD to worth-more-than-Obamapaper. Lol.

Oh god the memories, this was one of the first anime I bought on vhs. Try the english dub, the show's silliness fits perfectly with the over the top voice acting. Plus they cursed a lot which was awesome to my junior high mind.Yup.

Mamoru Oshii had a Nico talk titled Mamoru Oshii Pisses Off Half The World (no seriously that's the title) and he was asked, yet again, his thoughts on Hayao Miyazaki.
The following is a rough translation of the transcription of his talk. Oshii talks really weird and since this is an unedited transcript, there are alot of non sequiturs and jumping around. I'm using the yaraon summary of the talk versus the actual transcript because this one makes more sense and is on topic.

It's not worthless if we're talking about comparing worldwide figures in terms of earnings with other movies around the world. Using the USD as the main currency does give a good picture of how valuable an industry is at a given time.
However if we're solely talking about how popular a movie is in Japan alone, in an isolated sense, then yes, looking at lists in USD is worthless.

Also is the quality for android stuck at 480p?
There are so many series I'm surprised aren't on the site though like Chuunibyou.

So far the only thing I have discovered and liked is The Pet Girl of Sakurasou.
.I've only used android but I love my Xoom. I think the Nexus 10.1 should be awesome for reading manga online. There are a few great apps on android. I keep a few handy. I love the aspect ratio for reading.
I use MangaWatcher alot.
There is also the Viz Manga app
and this is one of the only other stores for manga I've seen on android. I keep it installed to check to see if they add any stuff I might like to purchase but they seem to be targeting DTL more than me.
I'm hoping that more stores more more digital comic stores add more stuff too like comixology.
There are plenty of manga apps on the android market and plenty of comic reading apps.
They'll simulcast stuff like CR does with subs and whatnot. As to what's good, that'll depend on your tastes.
Space Brothers and Fate/Zero are good places to start. Gintama is funny but long. Seirei no Moribito is spoken rather highly of too.
