PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I think you will get those trophies from the trials. I did the same thing with MK, the couple trophies i got during the trial counted for me once I started the disk version.

I started the disc version up today and I didn't get any of the trophies. Oh well, the game is short and I'm already past the point that I passed in the trial anyway, lol.

I'm assuming they want to put out something good around the Playstation event. I'm sure they'll mention the future of PS+, so they'll probably want to announce a big title (and/or streaming game service) to up the hype factor a bit. After all, the extra 3 months of PS+ deal will still be going on for a week after the PS Meeting...

This sounds totally plausible.

And I'm fine with Closure. I bought Sleeping Dogs day 1, like you all should have. I also got NG Sigma + day 1. I'm happier with some of these smaller games that I usually skip.

US Vita+ > EU Vita+.
It's one of the reasons I'll be renewing my US PS+ membership this month to take advantage of the 3 bonus months.

Also, I want to keep having my pre-IGC PS+ games :)
PS+ is worth it if you can find 2 full PS3 games or more that you didn't buy and wanted to play.

My second year cost me 30$ only (bought a cheap PS+ code on ebay) and this is what I was happy to get (since I started my subscription in March 2011):
- inFamous 2 -> overall I was disappointed in the game, but at least I didn't have to buy it.
- Ratchet & Clank All 4 One: it was a pretty fun game to play in coop, even if it's one of the worst entries in the series.
- Gravity Rush: great game (I still have to beat it) and one of the best games PS+ has offered (well, choice was pretty limited on Sony Vita games anyway)
- One Piece PW discount: I saved 20$.
- Resident Evil 4 HD 50% Discount: I saved 10$
- Plants vs Zombies: I wouldn't have played this game otherwise. Great tower defense gameplay. Really fun (but multiplayer is broken)
- Bomberman Ultra: One of the best Bomberman games ever. 7 players local multiplayer + 1 online = 8 players multiplayer.
- Castlevania SOTN: already beaten this game but now I can replay it when I want.
- Bloodrayne Betrayal: I haven't really played this yet but I heard it's decent.
- Borderlands: Oh, I was really happy I didn't buy this game. It starts out great but gets really boring by the half of the game. I still beat it though.
- Just Cause 2: I don't play a lot of sandboxed games but this one looks fun. Will definitely play someday.
- KOF XIII: I don't have many fighters and I like KOF. Good deal.
- Magic 2011: I recently started playing Magic, so now I can train using this game.
- Outland: Good game. Ikaruga as a platformer, basically.
- Pac-Man CE DX: Not the kind of game I'd play often, but it's very fun and I will play it again from time to time.
- Bioshock 2: loved the first game so I will play this one while waiting for Infinite's price to get lowered.
- Trine 2: my next coop game. Should be fun.
- WipEout 2048
- And some MiniS.

I would just like to say I am really enjoying Sleeping Dogs.

Bought a few pointless DLC character skins as well just to say thanks. Will probably buy on steam sale even though my PC ran the demo like shit just to be nice.

I feel bad for getting this game for free. Its really, really good.

That's kind of what I meant. I am happy I got it day 1. It really is that good.

Buy some DLC guys. There's a $5 Enter the Dragon martial arts tournament episode, and some neat costumes and stuff. They totally deserve the support.

Hmm...so the current EU PS+ promotion of £7.99 for 3 months of PS+ end up being about £32 for a whole year of EU PS+, which translates to about $50. Tempting to get a year's worth just for the PS3 games. You can buy multiple 3 months at that promotional price right?

is that One Piece: PW game really worth it?
getting it at $25 is awesomee... but with it being digital.. you can't resell it ever

if you are a one piece fan it's supposed to be pretty good. I haven't pulled the trigger myself... I am waiting for $15. Plus with the second game coming most of the first game's content might just be in the second game with improvements.... so I am kind of curious to see what is or isn't in the second game.

Indeed. Been planning to buy another subscription but the Feb games are just crappy (looking forward to Ninja Gaiden on the Vita though)

Don't. The 30fps makes it extremely hard to play. And I don't mean hard to play in the way that NG is a difficult game to begin with, I mean the control movement is crippled and you can't do precise turns to the left or right without stopping. Leave it to SCEA to finally offer a legit Vita game only for it to be one that doesn't work.

Downloaded inFAMOUS 2 and Darksiders the past couple of days. Two games I wish I had not traded in, especially inFAMOUS 2, as I never got to play through the good path. As for Darksiders, playing II reminded me of how much better the first one was.

Bottom line, can't beat actually getting something in return for being a member of a service. In the case of games I have played, it's nice to be able to maybe score back a game that I wished I still had or would like to play again. Can't complain about Plus, myself.

Ive only got an 80GB now ive just got to get used to deleting things, i find it hard for some reason.
Gotta complete Infamous 2 to free up 15GB.

I'm purposefully not upgrading my 120GB model with the intended purpose of making me actually finish some of the many games I was enjoying and playing through before getting distracted by the next shiny thing that caught my eye. It's not working too well right now though.

Guess it helps that I have fibre optic so I can reinstall anything I've got previously without too much hassle.

Sleeping Dogs has really thrown a spanner in the works with the logic I was using on what games to purchase/rent from lovefilm. Kind of get the feeling that most bets are now off on what could pop up for free.

It's not that bad. I'm up to Chapter 17 on the Vita version, and I'm doing just as well in it as I ever did in the original, Black, or Sigma on the PS3 (playing on Hard). I'm so used to the game i can do everything in it automatically, though, so a newcomer might not find it the best version to start with. What you're saying about the controls is true, but it doesn't affect the combat much, if at all, which is the whole point of the game. The platforming has been toned way down in Sigma.

Anyway, if Ninja Gaiden had been the first game I played on the Vita, I'm sure I would have thought the framerate was terrible, but after playing through so many other games with bad framerates *and* sub-native resolutions, the fact NG looks as good as it does is like a revelation on this device. It's easily the most visually-appealing game I've played on the Vita so far.

I'm also going to get some of the DLC, and should a Sleeping Dogs 2 appear I'm certainly going to be more interested than I would have been otherwise thanks to getting the first game for nowt.

That's where I think the strength of PS+ is for Sony, they can release a game on it say 2 months before release of a new title in the franchise and drum up interest that wasn't there to begin with.

Every time I take a break from it and get back to it, I swear it looks better each time.
When it's night and raining....beautiful. Nice soundtrack too.

Agreed. I mean, what, only like 50 free games a year, plus hundreds of dollars in discounts?

Pfft, what a ripoff. SCEA is truly the joke of the industry.

Do you own Sony stock or something? You seem to get upset in this thread any time someone points out how poor the SCEA Plus offerings have been. The service isnt free and so I think it is perfectly acceptable to mention that the games they have decided to give us dont stack up when compared to the games Europe gets. I am hopefully that they are saving the big stuff for the Playstation meeting, but Plus has been really underwhelming for a while now in the US.

I'm seriously tempted to get a Vita after getting PS+. I mean FREE GAMES!!!!!
On the other hand Vita is doomed, etc...
What say you GAF?

Most people who have a Vita seem to LOVE it.

I don't know how many games you need to justify a system's purchase, but in my opinion the Vita's already there. And I'm looking forward to no less than five games this year from it.

And I don't think it's "doomed" in that it's going away later this year with no support ever again. If it's "doomed" at all, it will have a shorter lifespan than the PSP, like four years.

Couldn't blame you if you wanted to wait on price drop though.

Not yet/currently.

Huhhhhuhhhuhhhh... d-do you own Microsoft stock or something? You seem to say silly, indefensible things, like that the best value in the entire industry is "underwhelming."

Do you own stock in the companies of the games you love the most and defend against what you know to be misguided criticisms?

Plus is the best thing in the industry by leaps and bounds. If I only had $60 to spend a year, I would get Plus and not any game, and I wouldn't even hesitate in that decision.

So yeah, I like to stand up for the things I like and I think are worthy of praise. If someone were to say that VANQUISH were a boring shooter and a bad game, you'd see a similar response from me.

And you calling Plus "underwhelming" would be like a caveman calling the internet "unimpressive."

People who complain about Plus in comparison to Europe are like spoiled rich children at dessert time. They live in a beautiful house with a wonderful family and not a care in the world, but when they see that big sis got an extra scoop of ice cream for her dessert... it's tantrum time.

I have Plus and I do think it is a good service but there have been a lot of weeks where there wasnt anything I wanted. I dont see how it is spoiled to look at the other regions and compare what they are getting. If the releases were just uniform this wouldnt be a problem, people would still complain during the weak weeks, but they couldnt point to other areas getting better stuff. I was just surprised by how strongly you seem to react to the people that complain.

Binary Domain is okay as replacement. Played the demo and didn't have big cons. Playing Sleeping Dogs anyway atm so this is a win/win.

Here's the past few months for:

Oct:King of Clooneys '13 (which isn't as good as '98/'02 UM because SNK/Suckmore isn't SNK. :()
Nov:Uncharted: Golden Aybss
Nov:Wipeout 2048
Nov:Gravity Rush
Nov:Jet Set Radio portable
Dec:A bunch of shit no one cares about, so Infamous 2 time
Jan:PS3: Shit no one cares about/Ninja Gaiden 30FPS Shit Portma.
Feb:Shit no one cares about.

Sales:

-50% Tokyo Jungle
-98% Dungeon Hunter Alliance PS3
-50% Dissidia Duocidim 012/Prologueus
-50% Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Rest:

shit no one cares about.

So for the 3 months I've been on this rental service? A total wash.

I'm still waiting until the 4th to see if Sony puts up more shit I want to play than shit no one wants to play (Bioshock 2, really?) to see if I should resub. Probably not since I've always hated the service since conception and anything they've offered I either have or plan to get and since I can't buy through the rental service to keep it after my rental sub ends, it isn't worth it to me.

You can say I'm a spoiled brat if you want, but the service hasn't offered anything in weeks to make it worthwhile. Meanwhile, EU gets modern/recent games in comparison. How is that okay?

Shinkiro didn't do any official artwork for KoF XIII!

Seems like a Catch 22 really. EU has more PS+ subscribers so they can get better games. US has less so they don't get as many recent blockbusters. People don't see value in the games SCEA is putting so they don't subscribe.

That said, it is definitely SCEA's job to make better deals with those publishers to get their games on PS+. Otherwise they may as well offer more of their first party titles like Twisted Metal that just went on "sale" for $30 or hell, even Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time since that isn't exactly getting any marketing and will flop badly in sales anyways.

Quantum Conundrum theme is awesome. h8rz.

TBH I'm liking it for the most part, but I may get a clearer idea of why its disliked so much after I play Portal.
As is my main gripes are the screen tearing and the frame rate seems like it could've been better.

I can understand and tolerate and even agree with criticisms that are thoughtful and presented like an adult would. Saying there should be only one PS Plus is a reasonable desire (though I do hope you realize that means the US would have to PAY THE SAME as EU too). Saying "lol US is a joke, what a ripoff" is fucking moronic.

Of course I react strongly. Look at Seks' post right after yours. He's just ranting, like a child in a tantrum, saying stupid shit like "shit no one cares about" and the embarrassingly lazy "X, really!?" non-meme, about Bioshock 2, no less, one of the best games to come out on Plus on either the US or EU. It's... nonsensical. An entitled baby screaming about how many scoops of ice cream he deserves.

Yes, I react strongly to people who act like lunatics and/or children in criticizing Plus because I, 1) Care about the industry a lot to begin with, and 2) Think PS Plus is more valuable than any game.

Though it does strike me as noteworthy that you've noticed how strongly I react, and not how strongly the decriers do...

Haven't you heard? Nobody cares about Darksiders.

Change your analogy so it takes into account both people are paying for the ice cream and the big sis consistently gets better ice cream and then maybe you'll have something accurate.

I don't think anyone will deny that the PS+ service itself is not of great value, if they do they're either lying or frustrated. Since I joined in late November of 2012 I've already gotten one game that I was interested in but never bought (Darksiders) and a whole lot of games that I was interested in but would never think of buying. Combining those with the extra discount on sales I've taken advantage of I would say the $50 was worth it. Looking at the EU lineup though, it's not hard to see why people who are NA+ only would be frustrated.
