Assumed as much. Although due to the PS3 user-base I was unsure for definite.
I'd guess it came down to feasibility as much as anything, they've been trying to make the game work on PS3 tech for years now.

It makes a lot of sense to release this as a launch title because it's going to be a very niche title directed at the hardcore.
This game had lofty goals and extremely high expectations so I'm not surprised to see that they're still working on it.

I'd like to imagine they've been busy building different towers and castles and rolling hills, an empty landscape with no enemies, but fields and canyons to explore and play in. as long as i get that, it's all good.
all this misinformation is detrimental to my health though. team ico hd collection and last guardian were a big part of my ps3 purchase so this information waiting game is getting tiresome.

I think it probably was more connected with crazy ambitions of Ueda.
Last Guardian is from design game about working with AI to solve problems and this AI has fully working body physics (mentioned in one of interview).
Last time they used physic to move body was Tresspaser and that didn't end well also AI in games stopped on 2001 Black$White in which creature hardly can compare to what Last Guardian can represent in therm of game-play.
Game look incredibly complex from design perspective to me and Ueda had experience with SorC horse animations (which are still incredible) and ico AI partner. Both of them in comparison to design of The Last guardian are simply inferior.
And then there is power problem. From trailer we saw that spaces are mostly open and don't really shy from good details.
I am fan of both ICO and SotC and i can't wait for TLG. If it will be lunch title even with 599$ price tag for console i will gladly buy it. Nothing in my gaming carrier could compare to beating this collosus with sword (with dat music)

They'll be awesome launch titles for sure, but announcing them for PS3 and releasing them on PS4 will make lots of people angry and hype might turn into hate etc unless they release them on PS3 too.

It makes sense for The Last Guardian to be an early PS4 title. Rumor was they needed more power for their ambition. They're also running out of time for a PS3 release, and the game would be much better off releasing early in a generation anyway.

If it is not announced for PS4 can we all agree to forget this game. As for Versus XIII this is the last chance. If it is not within Orbis first year, It's time to move on and pretend these games just never existed.

How so? Sales would be minimal on PS4 compared to PS3. After 6(?) years of development time it seems smarter to release the game on a console with a user base as big as possible.

I hope this and Versus both get pushed to the PS4. Now just an HD remake of Ni No Kuni and I'll be set! (sold my PS3 about a year ago).

I know applying the auteur theory to game making can be a dangerous thing to do at times, but yea, Ueda leaving seems bad for the future of Team ICO.
If he's happy pursuing what he wants, I guess that's fine though.
I think Ueda is a little more than just a producer.

That is unless Ueda begs Yoshida to keep him around and promises to use SCEJ's time & money a bit more wisely.
That said, he got a ton of freedom at Sony. Kind of like thatgamecompany, he might be hard-pressed to get the powerful combination of in-house support (i.e. Sony Santa Monica) and creative comfort on the open, multi-platform market while still expecting to make big, ambitious projects.
Might be an iOS future for "the man that never ages".
Jokes aside, I hope for the best, as I think Ueda is a rare visionary, but when TLG releases people should just be thankful for the 'Team ICO Trilogy' and move on.

I bought a PS3 for The Last Guardian and MGS4 (that ending... oh man), and I will buy a PS4 just for The Last Guardian. If it is a launch title then I will get a PS4 at launch.

Buying a system for 1 game, and for a game that doesn't exist, really is their own fault.
PS3 had enough great games this gen that I'm sure they got their money out of it and then some.
