Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Ok, I'm a good 2 hours into Persona 4 Golden, and I've probably actually played a total of 5 minutes. At this point, I never want to hear people bitching about the "Interactive Movie" that is Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's cutscenes and gameplay.

I'm enjoying Persona 4 Golden a lot, I just find the double standard kind of annoying. The game is finally starting to open up and introduce more game play mechanics, but it's a really slow starter. I love the art style, and the story is really intriguing, so that's nice, but it certainly takes its sweet fucking time to get to the meat and potatoes of the game.

Heh thanks for summing up my impressions for me. I'm about 3 hours in and really enjoying it. I am liking the pacing of it. I can tell its a slow burn.

Edit: Top of page. Buy Persona 4 Golden while its on sale for the next few weeks

Just bought a wifi Vita with Little Big Planet, 4gb card, Hori screen protector and Hori hardcase for 191€. Now let's refresh the email account until I get the delivery confirmation.

so you just ignored the issues he mentioned in the video.cool I guess.

and why I need to downplay SS when I'm already have a pre order of it? the game still got problems and I don't say any reason why we should not talk about them.

Toto I hope you realise the only 'issue' he brought up is that random players can be stupid. Friendly fire makes monster hunting games so much more fun. It ads a layer of complexity and teamwork that would be lost if everyone was instanced, wailing on the boss in their own little world.

Honestly, I wish people would stop quoting you so I wouldn't have to deal with your bullshit any more. Please, can we all just put Totobeni on ignore and move on?

How are they? I've been wanting them for ages. I have the original Pulse headset and I LOVE it, my only gripe is that it's USB/wireless only :\ I really want a pair like it for my Vita. I was reading that they're a little too tight on your head because of the banding on the top? If they're just like the original Pulse cans I'll be getting them soon.

They're a huge step up in terms of audio quality. The bass-impact isn't just a gimmick. If you set to about 25%, that's the sweet spot, any higher and stuff starts to sound distorted. The closed-cup design works really well. I find they do feel a bit tight, and will start to bother your ears after 3 hours or so.. Not the best for comfort, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The Pulse last about 5 hours, and takes 2 hours to charge.. Very good overall, some slight discomfort after long use. But you'd be hard pressed to find better sounding headphones for use with the Vita. The extra volume (games sound twice as loud) and the bass boost bring out the best in sound from all Vita games.

Congrats.

anyway 4GB is just not enough, you'll need to get a 16GB card at least.

and get Persona 4 Golden too.

Seriously, folks. Stop the quoting!

Have they fixed having no choice over whether the boss is sacrificed/saved in Soul Sacrifice online MP? Feel like everybody should have their own individual choice regarding it.

lol

Well in the interest of civil discussion, even if Toto's opinion is unpopular, he has a right to it and is still a member of the community even if you think he unnecessarily exaggerates negativity in things. Like if all you do is lambaste and moan when Toto makes a statement, all it does is force him out and prove negative stereotypes about the community. On the flipside though, Toto is not innocent and should provide critique rather then nitpicking/unwarranted complaining. Like if you feel dissatisfied with what is shown from the online experiences, what exactly do you have issues with? If you detail your grievances there can at least be a discussion rather then calling out based on rep. Personally while the game has issues (traps and golem balance apparently) positive impressions from RSG, Kyofu, and EpicNameBro also leave me positive.

Totobeni...I find your posts nearby always negative about SS to the point I think you're trolling people to get a reaction which is clearly against the rules. That said if you think SS is soooo bad why on earth did you preorder it. If you have nothing constructive or at least meaningful to add try refrain if you can eh?

I don't have a Vita (yet) but I'm considering buying it just for SS alone.

I'm probably one of the few people in this thread that will never play P4G.

I would, on the other hand, give P4A a shot

Any reason why? or you just don't like JRPGs?

not sure if P4A worth it if you are not fan of the stories of the persona games/characters.

Yeah but 48 euro for 16gb is a bit too much for me at the moment. Is there any chance of the price going down in the near future?

oh yeah that a lot for a mc.

no idea, hopefully they drop the prices soon.

It pains me to say, but I think I'm passed that point. After a full year of being subjected to the most ridiculous assertions, I've gone from thinking it was a quirky character trait, to wondering that might be wrong in his prefrontal cortex, to rarely being able to stop myself from vilifying him. I think the situation might've been different if he ever brought up substantial points, or didn't always comically hone in on the most minute negative aspects of whatever he's absorbed... but that obviously isn't the case and he's proven to be beyond reform.

What would you guys say are the best PSM/mini games?

I've personally really enjoyed:

PS Minis:

Wizorb
Tetris
I must Run!
Zenonia (it's not too bad for fans of 2D action/rpgs)
Scary Girl
Age of Zombies
The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus
Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess

Mobile:

Aqua Kitty
Haunt the House
Life of Pixel
Lemmings
Beats Slider

Oh yeah, I'm definitely enjoying it, I was just taken aback at how much I just pressed the "X" button for the first two hours of my game time.

I've actually cooled off a lot on JRPGs due to some of the absurd tropes that plague the genre (like every other genre, to be fair), but games like Ni No Kuni and Persona 4 have been pulling me back in. I'm really enjoying the characters and narrative in Persona 4. I'm getting more into it now that it's starting to feel more like an RPG (I can finally start looking at my stats and Personas, for example).

Thinking of grabbing Capcom Classics Reloaded for Ghosts n Goblins, 1942, Gunsmoke, etc...

Can anyone confirm this works on Vita? I've heard you have to download it to PS3 and then transfer it over.

I wouldn't say I dislike the genre as a whole. I just find very little interest in a lot of the aspects in the persona series. I own 2 and 3, but haven't played either one longer than 3 hours.

Well I am pumped for SS, day 1 purchase. Actually the video you linked made me even more hyped for it so thanks! Oh and don't worry toto I wont sacrifice you, I promise :).

I do, but I haven't gotten that far.
Ok, no problem :)

Not sure if you figured it out already but when you drop down onto the ramp, hit the brakes going as fast as possible without falling. The ramp isn't static and it'll shift with enough force.

Wait am I thinking of the right one. Let me load it up.

Edit: Yea I was thinking of the right one. Just keep trying and eventually you'll apply enough force for the left end of it to drop all the way to the ground.
Great, thanks! :) I got it to work now.

you are the best <3 <3

Saving your friend is the only way to go.

As annoying as Toto's negativity can be, I could never put him/her(?) on ignore.

Why? Because he/she(?) loves Folklore. And anyone that loves Folklore is alright with me.

Yes please. I've always liked the look of this one.

Basically for me it does what I liked in the PDAir for PSP. It adds some 2 layers of nice leather so I find it much more comfortable to play with my huge hands.

I got the premium leather which feels great and smells like a good shoe store, but took 6 weeks to produce.

It has the obvious flaws of no access to the rear touch and no access to headphone jack/USB connector when closed. The sides are a little better protected than with the starter kit case.

Vita is easy to take out but held firmly enough to not slip accidentaly.

Funny thing is you can put in the Vita in both directions. I chose the "wrong" one at first. That leaves the headphone jack/connector free when close, but covers the camera (which I never use). It also covers the volume buttons that way, but that is no problem using headphones with volume control.

Don't really know if it was worth the price and the wait. It feels great (I am a sucker for good leather cases) and I might just get a bluthooth headphone so I dont care about the practical problems - will take it out for loading and put in the cradle anyway. Only time will tell if the missing rear touch will turn out to be a problem.

Wait... what? Are you really sure that game works on Vita???

I didn't bought it because it isn't on the Vita Store and I don't care about playing those games on PS3.

Edit: Sorry, I see you're talking about PSP game... I was talking about Capcom Arcade Cabinet... :(

"We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order."

Damn you Amazon.com!!! We Canadians exist you know. True story.

well there is Amazon.ca and I heard that Mary Elizabeth Winstead deliver the packages for you.

Unity engine support coming to PS4/Vita. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/03/21/unity-tools-coming-for-playstation-developers/

Kind of hoping this brings life to a bit more Kickstarter support.

interesting, since many of kickstarter projects uses Unity(it don't mean these people will automatically developed for Vita or anything..but still a good thing)

P4G Pro-Tip (took me 45 hours to figure out)

Press "O" to center the camera. I had been using L and R to slowly rotate. So much time wasted!

It was announced a while ago, yeah. I think there's only been a small number of screenshots for the console versions released. Wouldn't surprise me if we saw little to nothing in the way of Vita shots until launch, though. :/

P4G just keeps on giving! Did an all-in attack this morning that didn't finish the opponent and then
Twin Dragons!

Fuck yeah, this game...
