Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Pretty much just Killzone out of currently announced stuff. I've been playing my Vita less and less as I slowly get through last year's stuff. Most of the games I have left are arcadey or something else non story focused like racing or sports games, not stuff I normally put a lot of time into.

I wouldn't even put it past me trading it in towards PS4 if gamestop offers something crazy like $150 credit for one.

Yeah you really only like console-style games which we're not getting a ton of, so console only would probably be best for you.

There haven't been any retail releases recently, have there? I think failing to obtain even brand new games would be the most damning. I'm not sure if they're at that point yet.

There were 2 or 3 games released recently no?
I know one was MLB The Show 13. That was like a week or two ago?

Hmm. Well I'm pretty sure the newest game on the shelf was Blops. If they really aren't stocking new games, that's bad...

Yes, in Japan. You can always try out the demo from the Japanese PSN Store if you're interested.

I know, lol. It's just the one game I really want at this point. It's going to be a long-ass wait till fall.

My current buy list

Killzone Merc
Guacamelee
Muramasa
Dragon's Crown
Tearaway
Soul Sacrifice
FFX HD
Machinarium
Lone Survivor
That's more than enough for me to be busy for a nice long while.

And DoA5+ and NGS2+. I think that's it, though.

The Walmart I work at didn't get a single Vita game after launch. And they wonder why the games weren't selling? So stupid. They ended up getting rid of the whole Vita section (about 8 games and a few consoles) about two months ago. They also have about 5 3DS games and 3 Wii U games. The whole thing it quite pathetic, actually.

it's normal for traditionally console/PC gamers who got Vita, last year was empty as hell so It was normal you were playing Vita, this years there is some decent games and games worth playing, I'm also more on Steam than Vita nowdays.

Yeah there's just not really much coming this year. I might jump on soul sacrifice since it's coming at a dead time of the year but I really can't stand monster hunter type games. I know this is supposed to be a little faster and action oriented but it still seems like a multiplayer focused game with not much else around it.

isn't the story mode 25 hours long and locked to only one player?

Got Fifa 13 from GAME for £16 today, seems like a good price.

Pretty good game though, I know it's identical to Fifa Football but I hated the defending on the 360 version so I'm pretty happy with this.

If anyone also has it and wants a match please add me on PSN, same name as here.

If you read the import impressions thread, apparently the story is really good and the Avalon missions (single player) feature NPC bots that you "saved" earlier which function as much better team mates then say, your cat pals in MonHun.

Brutal. Target is currently in the process of expanding to Canada, and a few stores opened in the Toronto area last week. When I get the chance, I want to see how much these brand new stores are investing in a Vita section.

I think it's like demon's/dark souls in a sense -- want help? go to multiplayer and get other people to help you with specific bosses. Don't want to play with others? Run it solo. Easy enough.

Personally, I laugh at the idea of buying a PS4 in general right now, let alone the idea that the PS4 will have more to play on it than the Vita, but then again, I'm not very optimistic for the launch window at this point so that's probably just my bias talking. :)

I dunno, I'll assume it is since I don't really know anything about it. Right now it's nothing more than a game I'll keep 1 eye on before it comes out to see if I'll cave and get it. I have a lot of gaming stuff to save up for this year so the budget for unexpected releases is really really low.

I like a lot of things. On PC lately I've been jumping between the new Xcom, Crusader Kings 2, The Witcher 2, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and I'm starting to get into Planetside 2 which is a bit out of my element being a F2P MMO shooter and everything, but it looks like it could be fun once I stop sucking.

But one thing I don't like at all are indie games. So a platform that's slowly turning into an indie platform or 90% indies is naturally one that I won't have much use for.

My buy list for the rest of the year:
- Soul Sacrifice
- Tearway
- Killzone
- Muramasa
- Ys
- Guacamelee
- Dragons Crown

Plus some already released games that I plan to pick when they get cheaper:
- DOA5+
- NGS2+
- DW Strikeforce
- Smart As
- Little Deviants
- Maybe P4g after I get Reality Fighters and Spy Hunter

Any Capcom game

Indeed. Ducktales and D&D got announced, both are PSN games, both would translate well for portable play, both are presumably being coded with PS4 in mind, and yet no Vita version. I am not sure if the relationship between the 2 companies has soured or if Capcom was completely unhappy with sales of their games on vita, but, at least for now, they seem to be completely done with vita development.

Capcom's complete apathy towards Vita really makes me question why Deep Down was chosen to be announced alongside PS4. You'd think Sony would want a partner who isn't going to cut and run almost immediately.

You have to understand that they gave the Vita too much support. One late port of an expanded re-release of a fighting game and another late port of a not very well liked fighting game (and basically bankrolled by Sony, it seems) were very expensive projects.

Capcom still on PlayStation and still has strong relationship with Sony and will put all their big games on Sony consoles, however Vita come between them and their exclusivity deal with another company and its handheld and Vita getting healthier (and doing better) may impact that exclusivity deal and they don't want to lose that and all the money, and Sony will not want to lose Capcom just because of Vita so yeah pure business.

What? This makes no sense to me.

If Sound Shapes had only that one mode it would have been the worst game I played on Vita, and one of the worst games I played ever.

It randomly generates levels that can't be beaten until, by luck, it generates one that can. That's awful game design. :(

I agree 100%. With that said, I actually platinum trophied that fucker, and I hate Trophies.

From what Sven's said on Capcom Unity, it sounded like they did have other Vita projects in development. Seems they met the same fate as most Mega Man games now a days.

many companies killed their Vita project in Vita bad first years (don't blame them really) and I think we know ehat control Cappcom decisions toward Vita.

however what annoys me is the flip flopping publishers like Namco and SEGA who can't decide if they want to support Vita fully or not and don't have a clear strategy.

did we know it was coming in October ?

Tearaway confirmed for 2013 is great. Killzone in September, Tearaway in October, lets hope Sony has something for November, too and my personal holiday season is fine.
Hope those "new and innovative" unannounced first party games really exist.

The Walking Dead announcement is way too late for me. Wanted it on Vita but they kept quiet to long so I caved at the Steam holiday sale and will probably keep playing season 2 on Steam because of savegame import. Sucks that there isn't some possibility of cloud save between these platforms.

Another problem will be the pricing of the game because you can get it cheap for almost every platform it is released on.

Omega: What's the idea of getting the Kitetsu's 1000 kills achievement? I can't kill the ghost fish with it to save my life and I need a nice area to get these done.

Kitetsu = Doku's sword?

Ghost fish is probably the easist, I'd think...

After you defeat Doku (Chapter 15), check around the Zarkhan arena and you'll find the weapon. Trophy will unlock after your 1000th kill. List below shows a few places where you can farm kills with this weapon.

Chapter 15 - Zarkhan Arena (Fiend Challenge)
Chapter 18 - Beginning where you fight Ghost Fish (Best essence farm place)

nice, plenty of time to improve the gra..actually not saying this because VanWinkle will be all over my poor butt if I say something.

hope MM deliver.

I'm playing P4G for the first time... and ohhhhhh boy should have NOT started right before exam season. I can see why people are raving about this game.

I would imagine if sony has anything for novemeber it won't be something big... logically the ps4 will likely release then and sony's focus will be on that.

Good news for Tearaway. Nice of MM to plan around my birthday. :)

one of my worst PSN purchases ever. i thought it would be similar to my Journey experience. it couldn't be farther from my actual experience

I actually haven't played it (looked boring so I skipped it lol), it was just the first thing to come to mind when I was thinking about what sony was trying to push as interesting an innovative recently.
It starts off well enough, and is an interesting concept, but the game gets progressively worse for me. Less exploring, more videogame-y.

When will y'all realize that physical media is the only way to guarantee that you will always have your content. Who says that you'll always have that digital content promised to you in the future?? It could be here today, gone tommorrow. Its as easy as switchibg a light and your $1000 dollar digital investment is gone. Take heed

EDIT: Ill quote the post I responded to later. Gah, always refresh before you post

What makes you think that will or could happen?

Not really :(

Well you have to admit that's your own darn fault in that situation lol.
