Anybody else craving more sports games on the Vita?

I'm having an itch for basketball, and my only options are NBA 2K11-13 for the PSP. Not ideal, having watched gameplay videos.

Soccer's not my thing, so FIFA isn't for me, but baseball is nicely covered with MLB 13: The Show.

And I'm really hoping EA releases an NHL game on it, too.

Yep. I am loving MLB as it is also teaching me the sport more. But I would love an NHL game, even if it was a glorified management sim based around Ultimate team. Just something to kick back with on the Vita.

It surprises me that there aren't more already. Sports games (like it or not) can be a bit part of a consoles success. If the Vita had FIFA, PES, Madden, NBA 2K, MLB, NHL at the very least it would see the system to fans of those sports, especially if they had some kind of interactivity with the the home console versions.

MLB 13 shows what can be done, being able to carry on your season, etc on the Vita by cloud saving is an excellent idea.

More Vita sports titles please...please.

Edit: My first top of the page... Buy Pinball Arcade and all of the tables.

Seems like Jak and Daxter HD Collection is coming to Vita:

Stranger's Wrath gets pretty difficult later in the game. I have given up trying to capture the bosses alive now that they are shooting rockets back lol.
I played on easy for the live bounties (and most of the other trophies). All I need for platinum now is to murder everything that moves on hard.

EDIT: Jak Collection on Vita? Hell yeah!

Yeees, now get the Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Ico/SoTC, God of War collections over Sony. And whilst you're at it get Square to bring over the Hitman Trilogy and Tomb Raider trilogy and Ubisoft the PoP/SC ones.

I'm not sure where to post this but I thought this thread would be best. I love the Vita but the thumbsticks never felt comfortable, they were too small and slippery. I recently bought some thumbstick covers off ebay and the sticks are now much better.

Maybe there's other people out there who have similar issues. The pack I bought had a bunch of different designs. The picture below shows the one I've settled on. If you're interested in these just search ebay for Vita thumbsicks and you'll find a bunch of different sellers. These covers get my seal of approval, very comfortable.

Considering all the recent awesome news surrounding Vita (Walking Dead, Jak) and the upcoming release of Soul Sacrifice, I just wanted to utter a big:

FUCK YEAH.

Been a good week for Vita!

How are the new P4G owners enjoying the game?

Also, early Nov. P4G spoiler/question (stay far away if you have not advanced this far):

So I just defeated the 7th floor mini boss in Nanako's dungeon. It was by far easier than any of the other bosses in the game, and I have not done any extra leveling or grinding. Is the game easier from here on out? Not that it is too hard to begin with, but some boss's are much more of a nuisance than others

I am still kinda pissed that 2k released nba2k13 on psp but not vita.

(tried psp version but looks like ASS on vita).

Would it have been that hard to just take the psp version and then use the 360 controls/texturess?

BAH!

So I got a 3ds for monster hunter and love the game. I curse it for not being on vita. Game would have been immaculate. It will tide me over till ss though.

Yes. Well, if you are like me and want to fight every enemy you see and attack every golden hand then yes you will be over leveled and the rest of the game should be fairly easy. Especially if you are completing the side requests from npcs since you have to farm drops.

Sweet thanks. Usually I would be upset, but the story is so good that I dont even care. Honestly one of the first times that a story has been my primary motivation for wanting to finish.

I'm all for NHL on Vita, but I suppose there's definitely doubt on if that market would ever own a Vita. Posters on NeoGAF are the enthusiast market, not the casual consumer. The PSP had entries in every single one of those sports franchises, and the casual consumer pretty much turned their noses to them.

I do think it's a market worth pursuing, and Sony may have to resurrect their NBA, and NHL franchises if no one comes to their aid.

Tell the bastards your going to tell the 11 to send there vitas back. Sony should come through if they promised too.

I'm not sure if you're being serious, but the promotion was to encourage Vita owners to get their friends to buy a Vita. A lot of people simply registered Vitas they (and their friends) owned long before the promotion started.

I just tried out the Deathmatch Village Beta (PS3/Vita) and puked a little.
Please, no one look forward to this.

Maybe, but Take Two actually released their MLB game for the PSP last year, and Sony didn't bother to release the show. So I think someone must have bought them, even for Take Two to care.

Want Skate on Vita

Have a question about P4G:

I'm just in the first dungeon. When I find a stairs when I hit square I can move up a floor or move back a floor. If I go all the way back to where I can save/visit the Velvet Room, will I then be able to return straight to the floor I was on (I'm on the 6th now) or will I have to fight my way back there again?

There is a consumable that brings you to the entrance. Once you come back, you will have the choice to start from the first floor or wherever you originally took the consumable (6th floor in this case).

edit: its Goho-M!

Ahh good stuff, I have a few of those, was afraid to use it though as I didn't know exactly what it did. Thanks.

Yep, in comparison I git way over leveled on Fire Emblem and the story there was not so good. Luckily the chapter layout and battles didn't make it a slog to get to the end. Actually was quite fast.

More detail?

I knew its going to be F2P, but its the worst kind of F2P with senseless waiting periods to "strengthen" your character, which also affects the ingame balance, a HORRIBLE menu design and overall tons of stuff that seems like it would be perfect to cash in on customers by less waiting or giving unfair advantages in a match.

Yeah, no thanks. Those are exactly the type of game that I prefer staying on Facebook.

Damn that's a pity. :(

The future of gaming. :(

Yeah I was at first too, however (very very minor spoiler):

You get a skill later in the game that allows you to escape and return in the same fashion as Goho-M

Maybe, but Take Two actually released their MLB game for the PSP last year, and Sony didn't bother to release the show. So I think someone must have bought them, even for Take Two to care.

Sony were likely hoping to leverage The Show to get people to buy Vita in North America. As for 2K, they likely don't care how poorly the PSP SKUs sell since I imagine they're pretty much pure profit at this point. They're just roster updates.

If Sony San Diego could give The Show treatment to NHL and NBA on both PS4 and Vita, I'd be happy.

SCE San Diego did basketball games before. NBA: The Inside was their series. The team who made Gretzky NHL were bought by Zynga.

@ QP3: I did that dungeon just last night and the boss on the last floor gave me a bit of trouble. Just make sure you have four different Personas each with a different -dyne spell, and capable to reflecting, draining or nulling that same spell (reflecting is a plus). Another Persona that nulls physical attacks (NOT reflect) is also very recommended. It shouldn't be too hard by fusing Personas in the upper 50's and lower 60's. He'll use an ability called Quad Convergence that makes a certain elemental spells much more powerful, then proceed to use its -dyne or Ma- spell for the next 3 turns. If someone if weak to that spell, always have them guard since the boss getting an extra turn can ruin you. To be safe, just have everyone with a weakness guard at first before you know which spell he'll be using. Mind Charge is optional since you'll only have about 3 turns to do as much damage as possible. Just change to the Persona that's immune to the spells he's using and bombard him with -dyne spells. Oh, and he'll control random characters (sometimes all three) so switching to your Persona that nulls physical attacks will save your life. (oh, and if you really care about the Hardcore Risette Fan trophy, there's a lot of unique Rise lines in this battle)

I got lucky and he made Agi spells more powerful halfway through. MC, Naoto and Yukiko spammed him with Agidyne, and Kanji used a Power Charged Vile Assault. A quarter of his HP gone in one turn.

I bought these same thumb grips just the other day, and should be coming in the mail sometime early next week. I do find the thumbsticks sort of uncomfortable and slippery, and the edges of the thumbsticks are also a bit uncomfortable as well. I settled on the trigger grip as well. I'm excited for them to arrive.

Awesome, Ill keep this in mind. Thanks!

Hm, hopefully we will see the Ratched Clank Trilogy ported after Jak.

Wont buy Jak, played it ten years ago and its one of my most beloved series. Bought the Ps3-Hd Version but sold it unplayed, dont want to spoil my memories.

Never played Ratchet though, so I would love to see it on vita.

------

With the EUPs Plus Okami annoucement I wondered why Okami HD wasnt ported to the vita. Wouldnt that have been a perfect vita game? Chances of a port?

Anyway, looking forward to play it on Ps3 .

Finished Gravity Rush yesterday. Omg, what a great game. Kat, overall character/dialouge writing, story (How the story evolves from random, relatively nonsense events to the whole thing is just great), artstyle (these comics? wooow), gameplay. I loooooove that game. Had my problems in the first hour (Had to edit the Camera speed settings), but after that it was pure joy.
Thats whats wrong with most reviews: They play the game 15 hours straight in two, three sessions. There are games where such a thing destroys the beatiful experience. I played it in maybe 30 10min-2 hour sessions.
Had I known what a great experience GR would be for me, I had bought a vita much earlier just for this game allone. Seriously. I think Kat is one of my most favourite characters ever, if not the most.

Why would there be a cover for Vita's d-pad? Why would someone do that?

.

Because Convex analog sticks are basically cancer in controller form.

As much as I love my vita the ergonomics on this thing are god damn awful. The sticks are way to small, and convex like a crazy person's design. Also no analog triggers, and placed awkwardly sucks as well. Not to mention a back touch pad that is basically touched whenever you hold the thing unless you make a claw shape or have child sized hands.

Would have been much happier with an uglier but comfier handheld.

Convex vs concave stick controversy never ends :D
For Vita, I thought there were some "adapters" to make your sticks concave.

In that case I have no sympathy for cheats.

Ok, so I was going to wait for DOA5+ to drop in price but decided to treat myself. I can't find a copy of it anywhere - Game, HMV, Sainsburys, Tescos, Asda. Not a single copy or even a space where it would be. Am I the only one who buys physical?! (Not that it's up on PSN either)

Europe is next week.

I had to Google to see that it was even out :/ Most of the supermarkets don't stock Vita games (or only a couple). Surprised Game didn't have it though.

I asked in game and they said they had limited stock so it was only available for delivery to your home address direct from the warehouse! Not a good sign....not far off being a AAA title., 82% on metacritic, stupidly cheap and no knows or cares its out! And having looked at Metracritic - none of the big websites know its out either.
