Gregg Miller live tweets from PS4 presentation

"Sees the controller, you guys move, splitscreen moves to be on the right side. #GDC"

Huh? What?
Presumably that means that if you're playing a game where the screen is split down the middle and I'm sitting to the left of you and looking at the left side of the screen, if we swap positions on the couch, the two halves of the screen swap positions on the TV too.

Huh? What?

I'm guessing if you sit on the right hand side, your gameplay shows on the right hand side of the screen. If you swap seats, it swaps on the screen too.

It sounds like it will adjust the position of the screen in split-screen in regards to where you are playing, so if you are left of the screen you get the left screen regardless of whether you are player 1 or 2.

Are we going to get videos of any of this stuff? Some of it sounds cool. Also, he didn't say it but I get the impression the camera will be in the box.

Live area is an interesting concept on the Vita, but one that needs more refinement. Will be interesting to see how far they have come with it.

One thing that should help is that the PS4 will automatically connect to the Internet, as opposed to the Vita which only connects when it has to.

#PS4 Controller buttons are going back to digital over analog because no one used it on PS3. #GDC

Hideo Kojima on sudoku watch.

Actually, MGS4 didn't bother with it. But really, MGS2 and MGS3 were pretty much the only games that mandated the use of analog buttons.

Really love the focus on the gamer & developers first and foremost - I hope Microsoft follows suit with the same messaging.

Seems that way. Seems like Sony is giving the devs a lot of control on what they want and don't want to use.

Luckily that doesn't apply to sharing really: Greg Miller ‏@GameOverGreggy 1m
All the #PS4 streaming and sharing: that's on the hardware. Devs don't have to do anything special to their game. #GDC

Remote play for #PS4 games is BOTH via local network and/or Internet.

So every PS4 comes with the eye but it's not mandatory to use it?
They've only confirmed a headset being included in every system. Guessing they're waiting on MS to announce pricing before committing to bundling the camera.

^ thanks

Thought it meant the screen could actually show fullscreen somehow like those 3D TV's -_-

Real names mandatory? Come on, I dont like that one bit

It's not recorded for the GDC Vault anyway, so if we are going to get some videos it will probably be directly from Sony.

Ha I love this:

Sony employees walked the floor beaming, playing games, talking to the press, and introducing everyone to developers. They're not co-opting indie culture as much as they're becoming entrenched in it. Everyone I spoke to seemed to be a true believer.

Oh well. Hopefully we get some scraps later on :P

Yeah, so Sony manages to split the userbase right out of the gate. That's just dumb. They have a chance at the start of the generation to offer one unified solution. To split it now is just stupid. Come on, Sony. Learn from your own past.
you overthought it. It'll be just this gen with move. Whoever wants to use it will use it, whoever wont wont. Because it's not forced (so far), the overwhelming majority will not use it. There zero wrong with making the use of the eye for devs optional.

Interesting, but hopefully you can choose not to see choices you haven't made yet, to avoid spoilers.

That's a really good point. Time to tweet that at yosp!

Still no confirmation if the PS4 has a dedicated Wireless-N radio like the WiiU does

This is Sony we're talking about, if anything they'll inexplicably support AC.

Which is one of the reasons why the PS3 was such a clusterfuck when it came to consistency (or lack thereof). Hopefully the basics like mute, cross-game invites, custom soundtracks etc. are at least standard features this time though.

I interpreted that as meaning the opposite. It's disabled by default, you have to enable it (if you want to)

@GameOverGreggy

#PS4 Remote Play: Screens are mirrored on PS4/Vita (Both on at same time). Hardware does it/not on devs. Start at any time; no special mode.

Very happy about that. It's only down to the devs to make a suitable control scheme then.
