But in all seriousness I'm not sure what you mean by "there goes". Rising and the HD collection were on 360, Fox engine is multiplatform and I think Ground Zeroes was announced for 360 or "current gen consoles" at least. It's not exactly new information.

Given Metal Gear's very diminished relevance over the last 5-7 years, it seems like a bad idea to cut these trailers that assume the audience knows what the hell has been going on in the series. I felt pretty bored and disconnected watching it all. There's a number of moments that seem like they are supposed to be exciting revelations and maybe they would be if I had any reliable recollection of what the hell was going on in the convoluted MGS continuity.

Firstly, we don't know when he enters the coma. The earliest it could be is right after Peace Walker which would set this game in 1983/84. In that case Solid Snake would be 11/12 years old.

Aside from MGS1, and I it's even true there for some cutscenes, is there an MGS where this doesn't happen? I mean, even the intro to MGS3 is hella long with little input from the player.

Hmm I'm a little disappointed. MGS2 and MGS4 are my favourite MGS games. I want to see the universe move forward, not more Big Boss prequels. Hopefully it's at least better than MGS3 was.

This was already forshadowed in MGS4 in a way. Eva mentioned that Big Boss was in Zero's Control for a time and because of that she married Ocelot. Everything points to the revenge plot of the original MG series. If what happened to the boss didn't do it if the PW incident didn't do it, what ever happens in this game will.

Yeah once rumors of the Phantom Pain being MGS5 rolled in, I assumed it was the same game as Ground Zeroes given how it would be crazy if KojiPro was making two new MGS games simultaneously on the Fox Engine.

I loved it too and it won GAF's GOTY 2008 twice by a considerable amount so a lot of the hate for it here on GAF seems to come from a very vocal minority.

Trailer was nice. I am beyond excited to get another Metal Gear Solid game, but I also don't want to be disappointed like I was with MGS4. Here's to hoping this is a return to grand, mind-melting, wow-inducing form.
