Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Just wanted to show off my trophy basket add gravity rush too I feel like I'm the only one that got sold on the idea of "console quality games in the palm of your hands" because I find it weird that people are getting hyped for old indie game ports. Where is GTA for ps vita Sony/Rockstar? Where is GT and Siphon Filter? Where are the big 3D games that the psp got? I hope Sony and third parties do not give up on the idea of console quality games on the vita. I hope the system will not be relegated to some kind of indie dump-where ports of old indie games are disposed because the vita deserves better.

Nah man that's like the only reason I ever took an interest in the Vita. Sadly it's not going to pan out except for a couple of games from Sony every year and I doubt they'll put much more into it than that. I'm actually glad I got rid of my AC:Liberation game because I just happened to notice the AC vita bundle was trading in for $195 on amazon when I only paid $180 for it, and I'm pretty sure I would have caved if I still had the game. The lack of support, which to be honest I did see coming last year, still hurts.

Started up a playthrough of Gravity Rush on my new vita. I'm liking it alot the traversal of the world using the gravity powers and the artstyle is fantastic. I hope it gets a sequel.

Agreed, Gravity Rush is one of those games that has a lot of potential and could really benefit from a sequel. Imagine how much better GR could have been if it had tighter controls (gravity slide) and ran at native resolution...

"Kawano suggests there could be more F2P games in future – with Social Games, being an influence in this switch of focus."

Allows Japan's biggest F2P game go to Nintendo platforms even though SCE publishes that company's games internationally.

Sony
Do you mean Puzzles & Dragons Z? Typical Sony.

Sony

Sony should load up a stack of F2P games on bundles that have a memory card (or a future Vita with some storage built in)
Then advertise it like a huge value bonus.

Savvy people would realise all they're saving you is the hassle of downloading, but to casuals, seeing that buying a system gets them a bunch of shit "free" could be a big motivator.
Like the PSO2 bundle, why is it limited? Chuck that shit on every bundle!

Speaking of social games: Where's that Toro app? RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE. I want it NAO. :|

Anyway, got past Amature rank in MNG/EG/HSG6 now. Hoorah, Pro ranked tournaments unlocked. But I gotta play some matches to get points for some clubs and the characters to unlock. :/ Ugh. Grinding. D:

You aren't: It's what I bought the PSP2 for: A continuation of the PSP library. Unfortunately it seems Sony doesn't care about that and wants to pump no1currs indies out. :/

Oh well, at least I have DOA5 on the go, so it isn't a total wash.

Darn, on the Japanese PSN Store I can totally see MonHanPo3rd for just ¥2900. I really shouldn't buy games I already own, but I wish I could buy this without knowing I can't use it without swapping accounts and stuff.

I know that feel, bro. Put over 300 hours into MHP3rd, yet I still want it on my Vita.
May end up just buying an extra card to dedicate to my Japanese account. With PSO2 for free and things like Soul Sacrifice on the scene, it doesn't seem like a bad investment...

Gravity Rush was my GotY

You're not alone. I too want this despite some people just being vehemently opposed to the idea. Some of the best experiences I've had in gaming in recent memory (Super Mario 3DLand, Stranger's WrathVita) where on a handheld. Having them on a TV wouldn't have any difference.
So yeah, crazy excited for Killzone but am scarred that it's pretty much the beginning of the end and then the Vita turns into the Indie/PSN darling

Alright guys. I finally got done with work and tried out the Vita again. Everything seems fine now. With that said, I am now equipped with a 32gb. :)

I guess people can only get hyped up for what's actually coming, and there's surely a lot of indie stuff coming.

Console or handheld style doesn't make much difference to me if the game's good. Nintendo has for a long time strongly advocated that portable games must be tailored to being played portable. The reality now though is that portables truly are capable of delivering console style games, and suspend features mean almost anything can be "bite sized".

Given the spread of console style games on portables, i've been having less enjoyment with portable focused entries (like Super Mario 3D Land) than those games deserve, because i find myself wanting more when i know there's no reason why they couldn't have made an expansive console style game.

I personally think these days it's more accurate to say that console owners don't want to play portable style games on their consoles (puzzlers, short games) rather than the opposite. I wouldn't want to play Pushmo on the TV but i'd have no problem playing console Batman Arkham Origins on Vita.

I guess from the developer/publisher point of view, it's a lot quicker to make a port, but they risk scathing for being too downgraded and people are less likely to buy 2 versions of the same game if they have both machines. A dedicated handheld game takes longer to make, but they'd have more people buying both versions, and they get praised for the extra effort.

In a perfect world, if they were both good games i'd want the port AND the dedicated handheld game on Vita!

So that Urban Trials Freestyle game has been downloaded over 350k times in Europe alone. I wonder why Ubisoft hasn't ported the real deal yet ...

Just received SFxT (US Version) from Play-Asia. Nice price.

Tried to redeem the DLC Code on my EU account, didn't work. Had to redeem it on my US Account. Will I be able to use it with my EU account in one way or another ? ( I know that paid content doesn't work on other accounts, but free content does ... what of the redeemed DLC ? ).

I didn't like Soul Sacrifice, so apart from FFX-2 I have all the games I wanted for the Vita. =]

Though I REALLY wish I could play MonHanPo3rd here.

Speaking of Dragon's Crown, am I the only one who doesn't like the comically huge knockers?

Get hype!

Also you can but I have no idea how
Trust me, I'm hyped. I'm playing through it on the PC to get ready. Do we have confirmation of Cross-Stuff for Hotline Miami?

I see a disturbing lack of a Virtua Tennis bubble on there, my friend. I think you should fix that ;)

Will that referral voucher come in email? Im locked out my psn email... :(

think it got hacked
Im convinced those things will never come.

Someone here said the 12th

Weird that EDF came out on the PSN store Jan 8th in NA but the PSN Store says Feb 5th as the release date.

Just something I noticed as I worked through my spreadsheet.

That's for the "spend $50 in march" stuff.

Oh... I'll give it a go right away.

Good, soldier! But seriously, that game has LOADS of content and is a lot of fun. I'm no a tennis fan at all and I've racked up 96 hrs in the game. Just going through the campaign over and over and still unlocking things is entertaining.

Found Virtua Tennis 4 for 3,33 in a bargain bin.
Great Scott, this game is fun!

I hadn't thought about it until I saw it mentioned elsewhere online, but my Vita signs me into PSN automatically now. I don't have to do it when launching apps anymore.

Is that new?

Nah, I've had it like that from day one. Pretty sure it's a setting you can switch on/off.

At least you spent $50 last month. I didn't buy anything. I usually can spend that much easy but March was pretty dry on games.

Oh I just like to. And I plan to collect them all eventually so it makes a quick checklist. :)
That's a good idea. I remember I wanted to collect all the Vita games in the US when it was going through the "no games" phase...that idea quickly vanished after I figured out how much i'd be spending.

You're a good man! VT4 is one of my favorite Vita games. Anybody know if we'll get a follow-up to VT4? I tried playing the Android game but it just wasn't fun.

Same here. Haven't fully checked, but while playing PSM it's true.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed that. I'll have to check. Is that with the new update? Or did it happen before you updated?

Hotline Miami will probably come out next month. Yesssss.
Hopefully we'll get a PlayStation Plus discount or at least another "spend X and get Y back"
deal.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. You don't have to go to your friends list or sign on PSN, yet you get progress update constantly with who's online now. Not sure wether you're always connected online or just for a short period of time in specific moments?

Yeah, it's pretty cool, although there always was an option in the Settings for it to update your PSN status automatically. That never really seemed to do the proper job though. However I'm still not getting messages turning up very quickly? Group messaging still seems bent on only updating every 15 minutes.

Still, if it is part of the update, it's an appreciated improvement.
