Nintendo Direct Luigi special 2 2013.4.17 - 11 pm Japan Time (3 pm GMT, 10 am EDT)

So 3DS games I'm planning to buy this year ...

- Luigi's Mansion (still haven't gotten it)
- Animal Crossing
- Mario Golf WT
- DKR3D
- Mario & Luigi
- Mario Party 3DS
- Pokemon XY
- Zelda 3DS

Hopefully I didn't miss anything 'cause this is more than enough for me.

I'm confused about how the new Layton game is coming out in 2014 in NA, though. Haven't they usually been released yearly? Unless there's a Layton game coming this year that I'm missing?
I'm praying PLvsAA is that 2013 game ;______;

So the only option for Nintendo to save the Wii U is pretty much relaunching at E3. They really have no choice at this point.

They have been giving people a shit ton of reasons to buy a 3DS after its slow start.

Well Nintendo seems to be doing the same thing for Wii U that happened with 3DS.

Slow...Start....Slow...Launch.

E3....BAM! Games get announced, hype goes up, etc for Wii U.

At least I hope.

I'm gonna get shat on for this, but I think Nintendo are fucking creatively bankrupt.

This is ridiculous, god forbid they push some new I.P instead of spinning these same franchises again and again. All the while, the Wii U continues to flounder. I'm really disappointed in Nintendo, thank god for third parties breathing a bit of new life into the software lineup.
If the games are good and look fun, who cares? I'm pumped for everyone of those titles.

So that was it?

At this point in the systems life, you're still getting the main-stays -- the Mario spinoffs, the Zelda, etc.

Creatively bankrupt isn't how I'd put it, just, "playing it safe until we're back on stable ground."

You definitely are going to take a ton of shit but I agree 100%.

This was pandering at its worst. The new art direction for Zelda is atrocious as was Yoshi's Island. The rest of the stuff were rehashes and remakes across the board. The thing to be most excited about from this Nintendo Direct is Earthbound which says a lot honestly.

omg...

This is a good point, maybe L5 wants to have that out as the Professor Layton game in 2013.

I can only hope that doesn't mean AA5 is 2014.
though I probably wouldn't mind too much

so enough fans moan about a game and they make it?

get on f-zero and metroid dredd, make it happen!!!!!

shit so many games to buy, I think I can honestly say 95% of my gaming purchases will be for the 3DS, for the upcoming year

Nintendo's the kind of company that takes their new, creative ideas and puts them in existing IPs, as opposed to making new ones. I don't have a problem with it (I mean, they have a lot of IPs), but I can see why some would.

This is ridiculous, god forbid they push some new I.P instead of spinning these same franchises again and again. All the while, the Wii U continues to flounder. I'm really disappointed in Nintendo, thank god for third parties breathing a bit of new life into the software lineup.

They don't seem to show big, new IPs that's not eShop in Nintendo Direct. So... I think waiting until E3 would be the best option.

Problem is that you assume all those games play the same thing as though they are all the same. Last Golf game was years, same with Yoshi. etc. It's less offending compared to most games who tout "new IP" but plays suspiciously similar to their old IP.

Also they did make new IPs if you want to get technical. They somehow just ignore it in the eShop.

While I can agree with your point a bit (time span between the previous version of most of those games are over 2 years), I have to wonder what 3rd-parties you are talking about?

This is how I see it too.

Creativity /= taking risks.

There's nothing wrong with their creativity, they're just being conservative.
eShop is where new concepts are and will be at. Check Harmoknight, Dillon's Western or Crashmo out

These are all high quality titles and people who buy Nintendo hardware expect to play these franchises.

I really hope they bring something new at E3, my Wii U is never switched on, I want some interesting new games :(

This is it exactly, and people keep missing it. Many of the creative ideas would quite possibly flatline in new IPs, but throw them in say a Mario RPG, and more people are inclined to get it.

I really don't get the people complaining about lack of Wii U stuff, though. This was a 3DS Direct, not a Wii U Direct or a general Nintendo Direct.

I'm guessing AA5 is coming 2014 tbh. That and Bravely Default though damn ... 2014 is already looking great.

I think Super Luigi U looks pretty great. Speed running, different character physics, levels designed for only one player, and higher difficulty will make these levels feel very different from the ones in the main game.

Mario Golf has confirmed online with the features I want? *puts aside $40*

Oh, and new LoZ, YI look great, too. (Insert obligatory "I should get a job" comment here)

The 3DS started out sort of like the Wii U and now it's got more then enough games to compensate for the lack of during it's early life...

Nintendo can turn the Wii U around but expecting them to do it in less then 6 months is crazy talk...if by this time next year we're still talking about the lack of software then yes Nintendo have really really disappointed. This current drought was expected...

I don't really understand the call for new IPs in relation to Nintendo being "creatively bankrupt." I mean, would Dream Team be any better of a game if the Mario and Luigi character models were replaced with, I don't know, frogs or something?

Hmm, guess that green bar in the new Zelda is the magic meter? First I thought it was a meter for cartoon Link but it also depletes when he uses the hammer.
