Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

Wow, just woke up to this. I live in one of the neighboring towns, used to live 2 minutes away from the Arsenal Mall (a pretty crappy mall, to be honest), and I went to MIT. This is all really fucking crazy.

Just waking up to this too, stay safe bro.

It's really difficult to think of foreign terrorists robbing a 7/11. Not impossible though, I suppose. Just very, very improbable.

It's a sort of blurry line, though. Some of the guys that did the 7/7 tube bombings in London were British, but they were also Muslims and also spent some time abroad being "trained". I guess it depends how you define "foreign", because to a lot of people it's about more than simply where you're born or what's on your passport.

And these people won't hear police sirens? or have heard guns shots? or be told what's what, on their mobile phones? texts? twitter? facebook?

news like that can travel fast. But I guess there'd be some folks who aren't switched on...

My mom would check news in the morning but I'd be too out of it to give a shit and usually just head out right after getting up.

Hoodies are popular attire for morning activities like jogging, walking, etc. It potentially could make for an even more confusing situation. I hope the police robocalls were able to reach most of the residents living within the perimeter, but with more and more people relying on cell phones, who knows how many have a landlines or bother answering them.

Yeah or how many people are going to answer at the time of night. Phones on silent etc.

Starting to feel the burn now. Might go "lights out" now and hope this is resolved by the morning when the suspect is as worn out as I am right now.

Damn. I was sleeping but woke up due to constant sound of sirens. Checked my phone and saw this. I'm in Boston. Hopefully they get the guy before I have to leave for work.

If I was a Bostonian I'd be damned proud of my police force. Excellent public service.

Cannot be overstated, the whole police force, heroes. People like to focus on the cases of police brutality and corruption, but there are also honest, brave cops. We're seeing them right now.
