Despite the constant "updates" this story has many unknowns to be filled in over the next several weeks and months.

I can't imagine how stressful and awful this must be for the victims, families, officers involved and people in the area.

I hope this ends with no one else hurt, including the suspect.

They killed an officer and severely injured another, these fuckers are not kids, even if they were, they stopped being such thing the moment they killed 3 people, including a 8 years old boy, and injured 100s of others with a homemade bomb.

Justice would be to finding him guilty beyond doubt in a court of law.

Even if it is just a show trial and no sentence can be handed out, it would be a testament to the justice system of the USA.

The testament to the justice system of the USA is "We don't suspend the writ of habeas corpus or the Fifth, Sixth, or Fourteenth Amendments even if it would make some guy on NeoGAF feel better." What are you gonna do with the verdict anyway? Pursue a wrongful death suit against a corpse who didn't have a pot to piss in when alive? We've suspended due process for enough people already by locking them up in Cuba and dropping missiles on them by way of Cylon Raiders. We can do this one the right way.

I wonder if these kids are somehow related to the Chechen terrorists in Russia. Those did numerous attacks in the past two decades, including taking an entire school hostage, blowing up two planes in the air, airport & subway bombings and so on. Although I don't really see how a group apparently supporting Chechen separatists would benefit from blowing up some innocent people in Boston. Besides, the one who's still alive has lived in the USA since he was like nine, so you can't really call him a foreigner.

For them personally it seems weird after living integrated in the US for so long.
But if they have ties to the separatists/militants its totally within their sphere of possibilities of something they might do to attract attention to their cause/attack their perceived enemies.

I think the difference is that this guy has already indescriminately killed the general populace. He would have a lot of easy targets for a shooting spree or another bomb if the city wasn't on lockdown. Its also way easier to spot someone on the run if the whole city is on lockdown.

The reaction of the family members is disbelief, shock, and denial. They've been open about their history and immigration. These guys have spent most of their adult lives in the United States.

Seems to me they're just another immigrant family, and these crimes have nothing to do with their religion or heritage. It has nothing to do with extremists or foreign terrorism. It seems to me like it's a Columbine type situation with a couple of angry young assholes who lost it. Pressure cooker bombs? Robbing a 7/11? A couple of losers, nothing more.

Trying to spin this into evil foreign terrorism is sounding more and more ridiculous.
