Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

Father and aunt believe they were framed.

This is hilarious. "Framed" but there was a shootout, and they were using explosions and tossing them out of a car.

Regardless if they are the marathon guys(which they have been confirmed) they were still fucking with a neighborhood and fighting with the police

Im still waiting for my crow from the Sunil conspiracy nuts.

This is still going on? I've got no problem saying I was wrong. Like the late great Jerry Orbach said at the end of Dirty Dancing: "When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong." I made, like, three posts saying I thought there was a resemblance, and I couldn't understand how other people didn't see the resemblance. Media on the ground was reporting it could be that guy, and even his friends came out saying that it looked like him. Other people didn't see it; that's fine. But I didn't go out with a pitchfork hunting for the guy.

To that end, I don't know if I fall under the category you're saying (I assume it's more along the lines of the Reddit guys?) but this kind of hunting for people that were wrong is at risk of being as rabid as the behavior those Reddit guys were putting on show.

And what if the renewed interest in Sunil help his family find him?

Look the FBI ASKED for HELP. People tried to help. 99% of the leads called in where probably wrong.

I don't get the hate for people legitimately trying to assist police in tracking this guy down.

Because people LOVE to be pedantic on the internet.

I don't remember media coverage like this after any of these events. It's like America has been waiting for a 9-11 part two, and this little ounce of it has people foaming at the mouth. It's a serious situation, I know, but the mass amount of attention to this is getting ridiculous.

Hell there's a bigger situation in West, Texas going on right now, people are still missing, yet no one gives a fuck. They prefer this live Hollywood movie instead.

I'm in Canada and remember lots of media coverage for Oklahoma.

Chechnya has the highest concentration of radical Islamists of just about any area in the world. It wouldn't be too sweeping a generalization to unilaterally declare this ethnic subset to be the scourge of the earth. They wreaked havoc against school children in Russia not too long ago. I'm usually a proponent of multicultural postmodern relativism, but fuck Chechnya. Shitty fucking people.

I have many Chechnyan friends, refugees who came from the warzone, they're really great people.

FBI asked people to contact them not start a witch hunt.

Any chance that the suspect will make it into custody alive?

I have a feeling the cops will make that scenario from happening impossible considering what this guy has already done.

Unbelievable he hasn't been found yet. I guess he must have made it out of their perimeter in the confusion after his brother was killed.

They explosives (both real and false alarms) really slowed down the initial pursuit. Helicopters were useless due to low visibility. He must have got lucky and slipped out unless he is still holed up in a house. They have searched most of them so chances are getting low that he is still in the perimeter.

Oh, CNN has to trot out Rep. Peter King because of muslims. I can't that guy.

He is always on stand by to spew his bigotry and hatred in case a Muslim commits a terrorist act.

How the media allows him to always be on tv is beyond me. He belongs only on FOX news and not on networks trying to retain any credibility. And then how they don't question him about his own terrorist past is beyond words.

I haven't been keeping up with this that much. Would they have gotten away with it or not get caught so fast if they hadn't robbed 7-11?

I think they really want him alive. There are a lot of questions that will never get answered unless they get him.

And every American knows what he looks like. Millions who can identify him and report the authorities.
I wouldn't go that far. I think you overestimate the number of Americans who A) are following this closely and B) who regularly watch news. Not to mention that a good portion of Bostonians are still in lockdown.

And none of which makes any difference if he's holed up somewhere and not moving.

Flir works just as well during the day. They should hopefully have the choppers up with flir already.

It does. But what I'm saying is at the point where the shoot out happened where the one scumbag got his, the other escaped, and if they had proper helo support up then with FLIR, they wouldn't have lost him, he would be detained, or dead right now. Their helo was grounded due to low visibility/clouding.

Right now this guy is in cover, either by structure or vehicle. Or, possibly dead and the body not found.

Sorry Sir, I must have forgotten my limits.

Honestly, who the fuck are you to quote dozens of posts in an attempt to post a derogatory comment towards juniors?

We know what has happened. We know who is behind it. We know what risks there may lie. But, perhaps, some of us just hold the right to be free from intrusion in your own house just that important that it makes us wonder, if it is truly worth it. It's a matter of principle, and there is no right or wrong. So don't tell me not to question certain things.

Back to the topic, your comment just annoyed me.

Are the police forcing their way into homes now? Since when AREN'T people ALLOWING them to search their homes? I'm sure you are going to provide the evidence to back up your claims and prove your fears to be legitimate.

The distinction, of course, is that there isn't someone in West, Texas at large with guns and explosives. That doesn't render your point moot, but we're really not talking about equivalent things.

Police scanner said there will be a 5:00pm (EST) "Interview" at the makeshift headquarters in front of Target on Arsenal Street, Watertown.

You were an "idiot" if you didn't think it was Sunhil last night. Team #NoSunhil deserves their gloating.

Most of us weren't even #noSunhil, it was team: stop it with the all look same and stick to confirmed facts. People were even thinking some random old white guy in a photo was his uncle. It was so dumb.

How's that? From what I've seen Flir can give false reads on just reflections of heat off glass. Seems like using that during the day would be a pain to work with.

It is just shows temperature differences and is extremely accurate. They can discern temperature differences of 0.07 deg F. During the day stuff will absorb heat from the sun and may mask some details but you still can easily pick out people, vehicles, and buildings.

I would not have even DREAMED they would have closed the entire city.

Well, they didn't really close Boston either. The only place closed is a specific area in suburban Watertown, that was an active battle zone (automatic gunfire, trail of explosives, bombs thrown at police) last night. Boston's status is really just that people are encouraged to stay inside, and most are. Public transit was shut down, and that causes most businesses to shut down too. But this isn't some martial law quarantine where cops are forcing citizens to stay in their homes.

Not particularly you, but I do remember lots of brazen posters in here last night proclaiming how "ridiculous" all of us Sunil defenders would look when it turned out it was him.

Some poor family got shat on yesterday for no reason at all, thanks to internet armchair detectives. Though the girl was in all her right to tweet what she did, as the FBI does ask you to come forward with any infomation. People just took it waaaay overboard.

I honestly think theyll take him alive if they can. Theyve already shown theyre capable of not opening fire on anyone that looks suspicious.
