The point is there are people who rave and preach about "american freedom" with a patriotic tear in their eye, while in reality it seems all it takes is to say "Patriot Act + hot pursuit" and the police can legally search a home. That's all it takes for just cause, and apparently they don't even need a search warrant. How easy this so-called freedom is nullified.

American freedom is a myth.

Honestly though I doubt anything they might find would hold up in court anyway.

Because last night I was trying all the cable-news channels with my wife and GAF was usually like 15-45m ahead of them on important developments. Guess the downside is you have to put up with tons of scanner false alarms but you get desensitized.

I suppose you could argue that this is a pursuit and so far they've followed guidelines regarding a suspect fleeing into structures/buildings. Meaning they've established a containment perimeter and have waited for specialized units to be called in to proceed. Just because it's a larger area than usual and is taking longer doesn't mean those pursuit guidelines aren't still being followed, if loosely. I wasn't able to find the pursuit guidelines for the Boston PD so I have no idea how well this situation would fit in with their local guidelines.

Just wanted to also point out that the searching of houses probably falls within exigent circumstances.
