Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

Rather incredible that he has elluded capture thus far, particularly considering the resources devoted to it and after being in a gun fight with police.

It's a huge failure on their part, but I'll be they're feeling a hell of a lot worse than anybody else right about now.

Wait so they got tipped off because of an unrelated armed robbery. That is some crazy happen stance.

No. From what I understand this is what happened....

-They went to convenience story (photo)
-Killed MIT officer in his car (why?)
-Carjacked someone, drove around for 30 minutes -- allegedly stopping at ATMs
-Carjack victim is released or gets away and calls police
-Chase begins

The ONLY social media account that he had that was confirmed was a twitter account, that doesn't currently have any activity other than his friends commenting on how 'cool' or 'chillax' he was and boggling that it was really him.

Any other account is fake.

He has some russian facebook like account. Also i saw his brother's youtube.

I'm not surprised they haven't caught him yet. Look at the task: it's a massive city; he's one guy. He could be anywhere. Like people have said, he could have crept into a dumpster and shot himself for all we know. They're doing the best they can.

Chaos. There were so many explosives.

I've posted this several times, but they thought they had the second suspect after the shootout but it was someone else. That was not cleared up for at least 10-15 minutes. They also called off the search for a few hours overnight

Sorry I was making fun of the 20 reporters simultaneously asking that same question to the police spokesman

I'm not buying how some explosives somehow allowed him to get away. It's not like he was in a tank shooting rockets at them with precision.

Weren't there like a thousand members of law enforcement there, plus helicopters, SWAT and the National Guard?

WHAT?

And then what, when the police were trying to see who robbed it they saw they were there? And then did they panic..? Its just....weird.

Well the MIT cop got shot not long after. I think when checking the tape at the 7-11 for the robber they noticed these guys came in earlier.

No air support due to weather. Also at the time the police had his bro down with a bomb on him and lost pursuit of the younger bro while dealing with the bomb.

I can't believe people really think that the police would tell the media where the suspect is supposed to be hiding.

"Yeah we are sure he's hiding in *** Street right now. We'll catch him in about 60 minutes"

Nope. I think that would be a mistake.

Some 80 year old lady calls in and says she saw Sasquatch and they go check it. 99.999% chance it's nothing, like the rest of the lame ass scanner 'alerts.'

i don't think there was as much of a police presence at the time he escaped

Except they fucking HAD him. They were shooting at him. How did he get away?

At the time of discovery of the two suspects, it probably WASN'T that mobilized then. It probably were just police officers on a high speed chase.

They only showed up a while after the initial altercation. Remember they had automatic weapons, grenades, pipebombs versus a group of police that probably only had pistols and tasers.

Also there were no helicopters in the early morning due to weather conditions.

Watertown is far from massive. 4 square miles.

Agreed.

He could easily be sitting in an abandoned building starving right now but scared shitless to come out. He could be anywhere. But unless he has accomplices, he's eventually going to starve to death, commit suicide, or get caught.

Like the colonel said, when the initial contact happened they were understaffed and they couldn't establish a secure perimeter. They got one of the guys. That alone is great.

Boston. They thought he was in Watertown, he could have been somewhere else for all we know.

I just woke up from a much needed nap, is this asshole going to become a mountain man or something now? This sucks

I doubt can pull off an Eric Rudolph and disappear into the wild. Rudolph was an experienced outdoorsman, I haven't heard anything like that about this guy.

After so long it's a miracle in the first place they even managed to chase and engage the duo down after shooting the MIT officer.

He's probably not even moving anywhere anymore. Seems to be the best chance to stay alive for now (Aside from hunger and dehydration).

No there weren't, not at that time.

I really hope most people stay indoors. Youre going to make it easier for him to travel if everyone is out and about snooping and trying to get pictures..

Agreed.

I want to believe that considering the carelessness of the brothers - staying in town, carjacking, stirring up shit - that they wouldn't be smart enough to have accomplices, but who knows.

No. Dat hyperbole.

I remember during the Dorner Saga, the first night he was spotted at Big Bear Lake, they had this World Class Army Sniper on CNN, and he was saying that Dorner is a fat, unathletic pig, and would be found within hours.

If an overweight, husky person like Dorner was able to elude authorities for nearly 3 days, I think it's plausible to see how this kid has been able to stay hidden so far.

Been thinking of this all day. Who was this guy? Why make him get naked if it was the wrong person?

They had no idea if he was involved or not. When one suspect suddenly explodes after he was arrested/shot, you think they wouldn't take extreme precaution on everyone they collared? He was in the area where the suspects fled. Wrong place, wrong time.
