They are just relaying the scanners reports, reddit has jumped the shark but the mistakes are always quickly retracted. That's the nature of being on the bleeding edge.

No no, they didn't rob the 7-11, they jacked a mercedes there and the store turned up the video of them shopping in there before the carjacking. Hence why they're all nonchalant in the pictures.
For anyone needing some clarity, just look at this map and timeline that includes the carjacking, gas station and the original perimeter after the gunfight.

I think my favorite scanner red herring was when that random cop read aloud the fake tweets about taking revenge for his slain brother without any context or prefacing it. Certainly scared me and I'm sure others who were listening, cops included.

it's a little crazy to look at his twitter account. you go in there trying to find some clues.. he just seems like some random punk kid. hanging out with his friends, bitching about girls, and trying to think he's a cool thug 4 lyfe.
i wonder if he is holed up in some buddies' place somewhere in Watertown or thereabouts. He could easily have (another stupid 19 y/o) friend or friend of a friend who is covering for him and waiting a few days/weeks for the heat to come off before moving out. Maybe they smuggled him out before the lockdown was setup. There's no way to tell anything.
If he his actually injured, depending on the severity of things then of course that puts more of a point on things. I imagine the feds are tracking down his buddies at this point and trying to decide who might be helping him and where. These characters seem not to be not terribly bright and there's a bit of evidence for the geniuses to pick apart. That they expected to be able to get away with bombing something like the marathon and not eventually turn up from some surveillance sweeps and STILL stay local following all of that speaks to their thickheaded-ness. Something deeper is obviously afoot here.

Yeah but if a boston bombing occurs, you'd expect the FBI to at least look through their own files about people with extremist ties that reside in boston.
There was terrible reporting in the wake of 9/11, Newtown, the marathon bombing itself, etc. This will be no different.
